The asymmetry sounds interesting. However, the whole description sounds much more like a RPG with some management, then a 4x strategy title. Certainly there's nothing to know yet, and this is a vague guess based on a vague backstory pitch, but more RPG is not what I'd answer if asked "What about E:FE:HL should be changed?"

There seems to be no Demo version that shows the new(ish) game off. only the plain version from several years ago has a demo version. I stopped buying games that do not have a demo version. Most likely I'll forget about this games existence again soon, so I won't know when in several weeks or months a demo becomes available. I hope Ironclad/Stardock will think of me (and other customers like me) before they release a game next time.

The music seems to have strange disharmonies or reversed notes or somesuch. They happen in irregular intervals, about every second or so. Somehow I think the in-game music is not supposed to sound like this. Notes for the linked file: Audio starts after ca. 10 seconds with the music for the joke intro, which i then cancel by clicking. The problem I mean is with the other music, which is playing from second 18 forward (the menuscreen one). I did click a f

In my oppinion, both behaviours demonstrated suck, and neither should be in a finished product. Instead, it should be an amalgan of both. Zooming in and seeing everything shrink to half the tilesize just looks extremely silly. There should be a minimum size beyond which zooming in will not make the units smaller. When zooming out, the same problem. They should get larger up to a certain bound, to prevent them clipping into each other, etc. Meanwhile, simply making the units stay the s

I do not want a challenging AI. I like playing endlessly more then being challenged, Sim City style. However, in almost every game, setting the AI to be less challenging makes it less competent. So instead of having fun in beating the AI, while building the most excessive profitable economy ever, I get treated with endless streams of dumb decisions. I want an AI that is smart, but bound to loose.

There's a few these choice buttons on the "Create your world" screen (for example). it's hard to see all options when unfamiliar with them, so this might be a newby annoyance. I suggest them to behave like drop downs when clicked, so that one can see all the choices at once and then choose one from the list. A similar button exists in the unit builder, to choose an icon for the unit. I don't know how many units one is going to create during a game, but the prospect of c

I'm on 1280x1024 ( debug.err ). various text is strange looking, slightly moved down, or way too small to be legible. The white description text is generally unreadable, due to bad font choice and antialiasing. The "Add" and "done" buttons have a slight jaggy (only the add one), and are both moved slightly down from the center of the buttons. "available technologies" (at the top) is cut off at t

There are various places where UI elements are not clearly obvious in what they can do and what they can't (no particular order): "Victory conditions" on the "Create your world" screen have no disabled state (see also them changing the world name) there are buttons that are not of the white kind, but flat and see-trough in a brown/sepia tone. these always look disabled to me, and should have a

Edge scroll seems to behave rather erratic. It's fixed to the map coordinates, and the following hotspots don't work at all: left side topright corner bottmright corner bottomleft corner Finally the topleft corner moves bottomleft instead of topleft (direction only correct when one is aligned to the clothmap coords). debug.err <a href="http://pastebin.com/m3147

I had the same problem on my first try, and noticed that the starting position of the screen was in a corner. At first i assumed that the "no fun" part was a bit low played, due to no game whatsoever ;). Now I guess that the starting position is offmap somehow.

I too have these problems on the following screens: Save Game (from the Options screen) Load Game (from the Main menu) Load (from the "Create your World" screen) When dragging a Technology (Will covered by description text) I assume this is not a 3d graphic issue, and therefore have not taken any logs etc. but can attach screenshots et al on demand, as it is reproducible.

I searched the forum, and didn't find anyone mentioning Dwarf Fortress from bay12games. The game leads your first seven dwarfes to a mountain, and you're tasked to help them build a fortress under it. It's an economic simulation, but there is a small war part, where goblins invade (or if you piss the traders off enough, the humans or elves get angry too). So beware, and build traps, fortifications, train army dwarfes, build balisteas or

Campaigner : "then people would probably tell him to show some hard evidence. Now he did, and he gets blamed for it...." Doing things that you get asked doesn't make them right! Even less so for things you might get asked, if you didn't deliver them beforehand, how screwed up is that?? Maybe people should have asked him to jump out of a window, I'm pretty sure he would have done that beforehand too... Campaigner : "I be

DId you give it all at the same turn? I think there's a maximum of "appreciation" per turn, so try to give him some things, then next turn again something etc... I was neutral too and the Altarians where cool to me, and after ca 10 turns of massive giftage they allied themselves as the last race and ensured an allied victory for "acorn" the leader of canada. </fon

I Crank up my tax rate immediately, in the start I can go as low as a 50% approval, later on something between 60 and 80 is good. I usually buy 1-3 factories immediately, also one or two coloniser ships and/or constructers, depending on the map (It's said that none of the AI do buy ships early on though). It's way easy to colonise many planets that way, but normally they're useless without a factory and a starport and a market, and so on <im
