It's beating a dead horse. You have to look at it from all sides. It's also beating a dead horse reading post after post of how great the game is. The game has problems. On that everyone agrees. So it's time for both sides to
Thanks for the information. I don't if it's the proper place to post my suggestions for improving the game, but here is anyway: - Of course, AI, UI, Magic and such of things you know well. - Make all the units, monsters, etc. more different, with habilities, skills, etc. This is a fantasy game, so, go for fantasy and not only stats. You have examples like Age of Wonders or King's Bounty. <br
There should be quickslots, I was just thinking this last night...there is no reason these are not here.

We get, possibly, one of the best TBS games of all time, and everyone's acting like it's curtains? The key word there is possibly. It's not there yet and there are no guarantees of it actually getting there. And please let's be a little realistc. With Elemental getting bad reviews from practically every major review site or reviewer, i
Agreed, and to be honest I think I have read that before...however, I got a bit lazy in looking for it. You had a much bette post then me though.
Well, made my first map and it works great...now hee is a question...could this generate tactical maps so there are way more to chose from in the game?
Hmmm, maybe an increase in resource costs for things and what cities generate to make it balance out....or have monsters drop items instead?

Drop the strawman argument right now mister. I never suggested devs are lying nor that I know better than they do. I think the devs journals can be very colorful but sometimes not so informative. The latest dev journal is a good example. The Avatar comparison - while it may t
I'm liking what I see of the game so far, but I really feel it is missing the boat on resistances. For instance, a fire spell should do more damage to a water creature or even a mage who specializes in water. Some of the things that could be done with this is something like a water spell healing a ice elemental, or a fire spell healing a fire elemental. This could even extend to some creatures being immune to materials of weapons as well.
Quoting Rune_74, reply 10 I for one enjoyed his dev posts....I really don't want them to stop. We all do. It's just that some of us would like them to be a little more... factual.
Um, and you know what the facts are opposed to what they write? Curious response there.

I don't think dev posts should stop, it is helping even if a few on here have some developmental issue.
its amazing how many of you are gushing over the candor of the post - a post that still contains elements of being out of touch with the state of the game and what it needs and the reason for the way it is... atleast they are determined to speak frankly and support the game in the future whether or not the right decisions are made
So what do you suggest we do?? Keep beating a dead horse?
I agree Andon, however I think the magic system needs to have resistances added to it. A fire spell should do more damage to and ice elemental etc.

Rarely I wanted to fling my arms around the developers neck and simultaneously wanted to choke them. Elemental does some things insanely well: This consistent graphic design which looks all of a piece, the great unit designer, the combination of city building, exploring and fighting. And then there are things which drive me crazy. Suc

I think alot of you are being short sighted in saying is the best game he ever made. I think the only thing it really lacks is content, the engine is great and the ability to mod it is awesome. Now, fill it up...thats what it needs...it is very easy to add to the game, because of the way they developed it. So I think, and I may be wrong, that it is the best in regardes to what he can do with it. Now we only have to get to the point it realizes what can be done.
That is awesome...man those look great....never expected this.
That's actually not all that far from true. However, please note that it didn't start that way...
Maybe you need to step back a bit and not see it for what it doesn't do, but for what it does. A lot of times people get so worked up in their heads about what the expect and get down when it does not turn out to be that way. I accept the game for the way it is now, it
