Stardock's support page is here: https://www.stardock.com/support/ Edit: Whoops, I see that SD already responded.

Personally, if I happen to have a Conclave with 1 essence (usually one I captured from the AI), I'll build a Scroll Scribe, because increasing the "multiply effect by number of essence slots" city effects from X1 to X2 is kind of lackluster. Otherwise (for Conclaves with 2+ essence) I'll build an Oracle. Zero essence conclaves should always build the oracle to unlock the essence required buildings (but what are you doing with a zero essence conclave? Raze it
There have been isolated reports of people losing to AI alliance victories, but it's very rare because they like to go to war so much. Usually it's something like people not paying attention when wiping out all of the factions under one ideology, and then "whoops, guess the remaining factions were allied".
IIRC, the selling point vs. Steam on Windows is that somehow Windows OS is holding back performance - so with a custom Linux OS, theoretically games would perform better. The idea is that by putting the weight of Steam/Valve behind it, there may be enough critical mass to force a) hardware manufacturers to solidly support the Linux drivers and b) game developers to actually release the games in a Linux compatible format with c) good controller support for the PC (no keyboard required.)
RE: the map pack - while it does come with some custom designed maps, what many people value it for more are the increased number of stamps, which increase the variety of randomly generated maps too. So win-win :) AFAIK there are no 3rd party random map generator utils or 3rd party created custom maps available. As far as mods that affect random maps, the only thing that comes to mind is sjaminai's: ht
So on that note, One handed spears or Athican longswords at start or neither?
Athican longswords don't appear until you research them (mid-game), vs. one-handed spears which are immediately available. So if you're looking for something specifically at start , you necessarily must choose the spears (which as a side bonus gives you immediately available better-than-wooden shields.) That said, If you're looking for a reason to pick

It could easily be 500 or even 1000 gp.... -- it's just a thought.
Seconded. Personally, I was very sad when I, while playing the CoS Golem faction, I spent a huge amount of effort dropping the AA's magic resists with repeated shadowblasts and then tried to use the "Machinelord" capability to "tame" the AA - but alas, apparently it's

Possibly with a quest answer - i.e. you have defeated the giants guarding the beanstalk. Is your umberdroth unit "greyed" in the unit circle in your stack? If so, then it would have happened with any city (not specific to The Dead's capital.) On the plus side, the captured city now has an Umberdroth as a defender unit...
If you like, you could have a go at implementing some of these yourself; Parrotmath's quest editor is this way: https://forums.elementalgame.com/443956/page/1/ Of course, it won't add the new models/units, but you could at least get part of the way there...
In principle, it should be feasible to remove almost all instances of spiders by creating a mod that makes all spider units, lairs, and quests, Binding tech, and Resoln faction, unspawnable. It would take a fair amount of effort though, and the audience would probably be limited to arachnophobes like yourself, so you might want to undertake it yourself, if you're committed to playing this game.
I believe abob101 had at one point created a mod to improve movement range highlighting visibility here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/448478/page/6/#138 ...though i looks like the dropbox link is no longer valid. Might send him a PM to see if he still has it around...

In addition, in tactical combat, the amethyst automation isn't that large...in comparison to his strategic map view. After fighting the Amethyst Automation, I was a little disappointed with the quest reward. I thought I wo
I haven't tried Lightning Bolt much, but for Blizzard, the confusing part is that the damage specified in the spell description is per member . So, say you're facing a unit with 6 individual members - multiply the damage by 6 and you'll get the actual value. Consider, for instance, a mage with 4 water shards, and evoker I + evoker II, fighting a unit with 6 members. Base Damage = 16 4 shards --> 4 * 2 = 8, now we'

I'd pick 2 at most. You won't have enough XP in a typical game to "fill out" more than 1 or 2 schools of magic (although if you can buy level 1 from Procipinee's crew, it can be nice to have "free" level 1 spells in all the elemental

The parts ("syllables", etc.) of the names are stored in the game XML, and as such are editable (I don't know if you'd have to edit them directly
For mods, nearly all of them (including Children of Storm) are linked in this stickied post at the top of the LH Mods sub-forum: https://forums.elementalgame.com/446461/page/1/ I would second that recommendation, though I might suggest you try the base game without it a little first so you can appreciate the changes (and the base game is quite enjoyable too - CoS basically just adds lots more content.)
