[quote who="EleventhStar" reply="46" id="3560297"] Quoting Frogboy, reply 14 I am very skeptical regarding him winning on Godlike. Surely, he can play a game on say medium to conclusion and submit it to the metaverse. During GalCiv II there was always "that guy" who said how easy the AI was and when we fin

Good, it's working. I actually like this game and I'm trying to get as many people to figure out the exploits that I've figured out so Stardock will start fixing it. To answer someone who is asking how to do it: Map settings: Immense or larger, 10 or so AI. Abundant, abundant, abundant. Godlike (whatever, doesn't matter). Don't choose tight clusters. This worked better btw before they totally nerfed the number of planets and star systems. Bu

To answer someone who is asking how to do it: Map settings: Immense or larger, 10 or so AI. Abundant, abundant, abundant. Custom race: Colonizer and Patriotic (duh). Put all of your points into useful things like Dense ships or Fast ships or More Military Product
Yeah. Well, once you get to 100 colonies with a power graph that's already twice as high as the nearest AI and still exponentially increasing, it's hard to micromanage to the end. Especially if you're pretty sure you've already won. I like playing on the larger map sizes. I haven't even had an actual SPACE battle yet because in all of my games so far I've effectively won before I even get to that point (Benevolence level III with Colonizer an
The problem with smaller maps is I'm going to attack the AI before THEY'RE ready. I've got the strategy all set up: Malevolence level 3, transport ships and free frigate. Yeah, maybe I'll play a big map with more AI. That'll limit my expansionist tendencies. Strategy will be this: 1. Super traits: Ideologue (ideology points upon invasion), double pop upon colonization (or maybe synthetic, will need to think about that). </p
YuZhongLu (real name). Do you know me in real life?
Then what's going to happen is I'm going to choose Malevolent and invade their planets before they're ready. With the constructor into colony ship trick, and Malevolent free frigate and free 5 transport ships, I can begin invasion preparations by turn 15. All I need is enough colonies to get 4 ideology perks and I can get 7 colonies by turn 10. I would also change out the Patriotic super trait with something else, like zealot or "more extra colo
The founders obviously didn't do a very good job. The reason is because most of the wolves will stay away until the game comes out to rip it to shreds.
I should market myself as some sort of consultant who breaks game mechanics for a living.
When they were testing the game, they should have hired me to break their game strategies and mechanics. I'm good at that. Why didn't they do that? Why?????? And now after 8 hours of playing this game I've figured it out. Godlike AI in tag teams don't stand a chance. No fun in that. Stardock could have saved themselves a lot of headaches and I would have had more fun playing this game if they hired people like me during testing to
I want to have more fun, but I can't. Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhh. They made the AI too dumb.
No the AI is too dumb. If I was too intelligent, I'd be a millionaire by now. Unfortunately I'm only up 8% after my first year of active trading. It's pathetic. (Made too many mistakes. Was up 50% at one point then I screwed up). And when I play Grandmasters in chess they beat me like a little red haired step child. Though if I'm lucky and they're not in the mood sometimes i can draw. It's very sad. <
What should I do? I'm a master level chess player and I day trade as a hobby and so according to my code of ethics, I CAN'T not min/max. I've tried to change the AI to Synthetics on Godlike and I make two AI to work together and be on the same team. Nothing works. The AI is too dumb. What should be done?
The problem is that I can't not min/max. It would break my code of ethics, which is to try and break whatever game that I'm playing (I'm a day trader too). What I'm annoyed at is this game is too easy to break. It took maybe 2 hours of gameplay to figure out how to win easily.
Exponential growth, and the power of Benevolence Level III and super traits Patriotism and Colonizer. Also, there's no maintenance costs to speak of, apparently. I look at the people who actually try to build up their world early game and I'm like: TROLLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Just build colony ships with different engines (slower and cheaper colony ships for planets close by. Faster and more expensive colony ships for the distant plants). &
I agree. Colony capitals should cost a lot more maintenance to discourage never ending colony spam. Players should be discouraged from doing what I'm doing (which is too effective). What I'm doing is getting close to 100 colonies by turn 30, with an average population of 2 on each.
Get Patriotic. Problem solved.
Custom race: Get trait Colonizer. And get fast, along with more military production. Settle planet, and get Pragmatic Level 1 3 free constructors. Convert constructors to colony ships. Put production into military 100%. No research or wealth. Use the colony ship you built and the 3 constructor/new colony ships to colonize planets. 6 planets on turn 9. And thanks to Colonizer (free first building) you will have a shipya
I mean, yeah. He took like a dozen colonies. A dozen colonies that i want. Mine. Not his. MINE. [e digicons]>:([/e] [e digicons]>:([/e]
The problem is all those stupid military techs that they're so fond of getting early game. Instead of getting Militarization, which they're not going to use anyways for a long time, they should instead get useful things like better engines or Manufacturing bonuses. In fact, due to Tech Cost Inflation, getting those useless techs is literally counter productive and SERIOUSLY gimp AI research for a loooooong time.
Some I've found: Drengin: Our shock troopers are tough and brutal at the beginning. But you'll come to see that you'll start to like them. (Ewwwwwwww). Yor: You're a useless sack of goo. How do you manage to make so many of yourselves? Response: This is a PG rated discussion. Let's not get into that right now.
I actually like the general economic system in Gal Civ III than II. More intuitive in Gal Civ III. In Gal Civ II, most buildings DON'T generate economy. For example, factories CONVERT econ into ships. In other words, building too many factories will destroy your economy, which I thought was really stupid. The problem with Gal Civ III I think is that maintenance costs are WAY TOO LOW. Once they can tweak that, the game will re-balance itself out.
Colonizing 15 planets on one of the larger maps is easy as heck. You can easily get 6 new colonies and a shipyard on each one by turn 9. The difficulty is that you need planetary invasion tech to actually invade planets. Sort of makes sense, but I thought that as long as you had the troop transport ships then that's all you need.
So let's say you got this nasty neighbor you don't like. And who blocks your expansion. Pretty simple idea: Grab rank 1 Pragmatism for 3 constructors. Convert to colony ships. Then use that to grab rank 1 Benevolence (free colony ship) and then: Rank 1 and 3 of the first branch of Malevolence grants a frigate ship (pretty awesome early game) and 5 fully loaded transport. So grab that military power and destroy yo
I explore with my colony ships.
