What's the point of getting credits when you can build research or production directly? Converting credits to research or production is a huge waste of resources. And since maintenance costs are so low, it means as long as you generate enough credits to pay for maintenance, you don't need economic buildings. Also, for some reason the synthetic AI generates a ton of credits. I've seen the Yor with 300,000 credits. Which btw is totally worthless beca

They grow their population must faster and their power graph increases dramatically over their non-Synth counterparts. The reason is because the AI gets massive production bonuses in insanity, and they use it to build pop. And so they develop their world much faster in comparison. As a result, for a challenge I change all the AIs to synthetic race with Yor tech tree. I wish someone would create a "synthetic mod," that changes the AI to synthetic but

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. Well shucks. Off to plan B then. If they won't join peacefully, then.... Of course it would help if my ships weren't all -25% nerfed because of the traits I took. On the other hand I have 160 planets and leading the power graph on Insanity. And I have the Thalan tech tree. And I can tech anything in 1 turn. Currently on turn 50 or so.
I still get defeated by the AI on Normal. Perhaps you guys constantly reload or are using some other exploit that you happen not to mention?
Just use the strategy described above. Custom your civilization with Colonizer super trait. Easy mode. Get Benevolent Level 3 Prolific. Win.

The purpose of this thread is to list all of the cheesy strategies you can think of. So if you have some feel free to share. It'll help Stardock to balance the game over time. Here is mine (from another thread), three small cheesy strats combined into one big cheesy strat: 1. Colonizer super trait allows you to build a shipyard the moment you get a colony. 2. Prolific from Benovelence allows you to get a pop 5 colony us

"Tight clusters" is probably best. Super traits: "Colonizer" (free building upon colonizing). Other is optional, though "Patriotic" is probably best for the long game. For smaller maps get "Double Population upon Colonizing" super trait. Other traits: Fast +2. Sensors +1. Military production +20%. Growth +20% optional (but useful). Any tech tree. Thalan is probably best given your low population colonies. Hives is aweso

Turn 1: Colonize neighboring world. Pragamtism 3 constructor ship ideology. Upgrade constructor ships to colony ships. Turn 2-7: Colonize neighboring worlds. Gain Benevolence ideology and 1 free colony ship. 5 colonies by turn 7. With "Colonizer" super trait, every colony is connected to a shipyard. Turn 8-14: Spam out 5 more colony ships with minimal population. Key idea: colonize worlds to get Benevolence Level 3, free 5

Ok, so one of the major problems with the Yor is slow population growth early game. So the idea is this: 1. Be Benevolent initially, and beeline for the tier III bonus that grants automatic 5 population upon colonization. 2. Build your shipyards with constructors and PLACE YOUR SHIPYARDS SUFFICIENTLY FAR AWAY FROM YOUR COLONIES so that when they build a colony, your colony won't provide any population points to it (key idea! When the shipyard

I think they're trying to make it easier to invade planets. In Gal Civ II it took 3-4 AI transports to take a single planet of mine, especially if I filled that planet with farms and large population. The point is: the best planetary defense in Gal Civ II ironically enough was farms. I think they wanted to change that in Gal Civ III.

The great thing about Benevolence is how you can use it to create population from nothing. Using a colony ship with 0.1 people, you can create 5 people by landing it on a planet. And you get a free shipyard too if you choose the trait "Free First Building." And you can do this from turn 20 or 30 once you get Benevolence rank III. If you want, rush buy colony ships from turn 1 so you can colonize and get Benevolence rank III faster. On larger map

On the large maps (gigantic or larger) 7 colonizations to get Benevolent rank III is nothing. You can easily get 100 colonies during the expansion phase with my strategy. The trick is to pair up the Benevolent rank III (free 5 pop) with the super trait Free First Building. What you do is you colonize a planet with EMPTY (or virtually empty) colony ships. With the Benevolent rank III and the super trait, your new colony IMMEDIATELY starts with a shipyard (free

1. The rank III that gives you FIVE FREE POPULATION points in your new colonies. Once you get that, you don't need to put people into colony ships anymore. 2. Culture flipping. 'Nuff said. 3. Rank V research: FREE five research points for each of your colonies. Think about that. The key is to use the rank III FIVE FREE POPULATION ability to colony spam. In the early game you do NOTHING except build colony ships and shipyards

How become overpowered: 1. Choose one of the larger map sizes. Gigantic or larger. 2. Create custom race: Put positive points in population growth, ship speed, military production, research, food, and economy. Take points away from resistance/invasion/accuracy/hit points/evasion. In other words you'll have the crappiest warships ever. BUT you can expand super duper fast with your fast colony ships and fast production of colony shi
