No. Beta testing is for the noobs (the ones who suck at strategy games). And to fix technical bugs. There are some beta testers who can do strategy, but they're very much in the minority.

The developers' plan is actually pretty smart: Players are MUCH better at breaking the game mechanics wise and coming up with good strats. Consequently their plan from the beginning has been to use pretty crappy AI at the beginning, figure out the human strategies and the game imbalances, balance out the game, and then hard code in actual strats for the AI like in chess. One of the reasons the AI is so good at chess is because of the centuries of development humans m
Once they balance things, they can hard code in actual AI strategies. I understand their plan: the issue is players are MUCH better at finding good strats and breaking the game than Developers. So the plan is to make a reasonable game first, see what the players are doing AND THEN code in the high level strategies for the AI.
AI colonization is actually really dumb. They send literally ALL of their slow moving colony ships in one general direction. This might be something Brad has to work on. The whole "sector" concept.
Atrocapus Viriles (+10% growth) is a little too strong on the larger maps. The problem is the AI doesn't prioritize it, so as a result in the Diplomacy screen I trade useless things like Snuggler Colonies for it. The net result is I'm getting +120% growth thanks to having 12 of those things. Combined with your changes to the fertility clinic and my population on many planets is growing at +1.0/turn. Also, change the Thalan AI to prior
Sounds complicated. You could instead, you know, just change LEP to -0.2 MONEY/Planet and tell the AI to expand aggressively WITHOUT going bankrupt.
Just asking if it's happened. I wouldn't know because it's never happened in my games before.
Naselus has made a mod with a simple change to LEP from morale to money. He also had to change the way AI did things, so I guess it wasn't entirely all that simple. I have tested it and it works. The AI expands a lot faster on Suicidal, and I expand a lot slower. IF YOU DISAGREE WITH NASELUS, DO YOU HAVE A MOD THAT IMPLEMENTS YOUR IDEAS? HAS SOMEONE TESTED IT YET? SO INSTEAD OF WASTING YOUR BREATH AND YOUR TIME ARGUING WITH US, GO AND MAKE YOUR O
What... what have I begun?
Oh, as in something to MAKE chicken food. Nah, eating chicken is against my religion.
$120 for chicken? Are you out of your mind?
Double post, ignore. Read the one above.
So, you've just admitted that the more planets you have, and more opportunity to specialize, that your version of LEP being money based can be completely nullified by late game? Praytell, whats wrong with a PERMANENT debuff? There are numerous ways approval LEP can be changed to lessen the impact to tall empires and more greatly punish wide ones. With the current penalty and approval/rawproduct
Bug report: AI has Durantium at -117. Also, one of the Iridium races is pumping out huge amounts of low tier starships... but they don't have planetary invasion yet. Unless of course this was their plan?
Reason: Morale debuffs hurt tall empires A LOT MORE than wide empires. The more population you have on a planet, the more the morale debuffs hurt. LEP should be -0.2 Money/Planet. A TALL empire with specialized worlds can easily afford the LEP, but a WIDE empire that over expanded would see its economy collapse. At about 40 colonies in the early game, expansion becomes a net loss. Expanding to 80+ colonies with the NEW and IMPROVED LEP system re
If you have to sink all of your points into money, your research/manufacturing/etc gets hit too. Try his mod on insane abundant/abundant. It works much better than any system you've hypothesized. Also, what you don't understand is that in the late game, the LEP penalty from -0.2 Money/planet is effectively nothing. One specialized planet with 50 pop generating income can pay for 50 other planets. However, the LEP from -0.2 Morale/Planet is a P
Such as, for example, changing LEP to -0.2 MONEY. This little change (and VERY easy to implement) does everything you want.
Sighhhhhhh....
It's time to 'fess up.
The problem with using a forum organization is there's no way to tell which mods are the most popular, and after a while they'll be so many posts it's impossible to keep track. Stardock should just make an official website like Nexus Mod Manager devoted for modding for ALL Stardock games. It can't be THAT hard to program something like that, right? I mean it's just a website. They can copy the website template from NMM.
So you're basically saying Star Destroyers are rather poorly designed? Or their passive defenses are so powerful that fighters on average are not a threat UNTIL the destroyers' shields are stripped away in a capital ship engagement? Which raises an interesting idea: a good idea to balance carriers is to make defenses a lot stronger than what the fighters can do. Also, make it so that as ship gets damaged during battle, its defenses weaken.
Ethics? What does the word mean? I do not understand. EDIT: But yes, I too am happy I built my first market center a few days ago. I have yet to build a morale building, however.
I'm sure the AI changes he made have a DEEP implications as well.
Yes. So test it out. I still haven't gotten to a proper war yet (sigh) but I have noticed the AI expanding A LOT MORE. The mod does make the early game expansion A LOT MORE FUN because on one hand you want to expand as quickly as possible and on the other hand you don't want your econ to crash.
