Seems to me someone should sneak onto marigoldran's comp and make a custom mod for him. Triple the cost of colony modules should do it? Or should we quadruple it? [e digicons];)[/e]
I'll sell the Gal Civ III equivalent of junk bonds (ie. snuggler colonies and other useless resources) to the AI to finance my expansionist needs.

Yes. I agree!
You, cheat?? No, I don't believe it.... Nevertheless, hats off to you finding yet another exploit and abuse of a system. Any prelude to your next challenge? I believe baby seals will yet to be born until winter, but if you check in the southern hemisphere, I'm sure you can find some recent newbirths.
OK, I get it! Spam nothing but colony ships. Colony ship rush. If that's actually is the only way to win on large maps, then it almost seems like a game flaw... Yes, spamming colony ships as fast as possible is probably a good way to get ahead of an AI on territory, but you still have to actually do the research to get ships and weapons. Hmmmm. OK, I'm going to try both ways and s
This is promising.
Quoting marigoldran, reply 7 If you built anything else (with the possible exception of Hives or Gaia Vortex) YOU ARE PLAYING SUB OPTIMALLY. This is true, but also intensely boring. It's very, very dull to play this way,
Hopefully by then I would've built enough marketplaces and marketplace starbases. I prioritized the population growth techs and the interstellar government techs. Suicidal AI is actually HELPFUL with this strat because the AI has so much money. (I sort of cheated in the early game by giving myself half a dozen extra techs so I could still build tiny hulled colony ships to try and match some of the AI bonuses, so during the expansion phase the AI is probably only
Naselus's Insane/Abundant mod changed LEP from -0.2 morale to -0.2 MONEY per planet, making colonization past 50 planets virtually impossible in the early game. That is, unless you adopt the GREEK STRATEGY: IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH DEBT YOU GO INTO AS LONG AS YOU CAN FIND SUCKERS WHO ARE WILLING TO FINANCE YOUR ECONOMY AND BUY YOUR BONDS. [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicon
Those other silly features in the game like "farms" or "factories" are actually pointless and exist only to confuse the player. YOU DON'T NEED THEM. IF YOU BUILD ANY IN THE FIRST 50 TURNS YOU ARE PROBABLY PLAYING THE GAME WRONG ON LARGER MAP SIZES WITH LOTS OF PLANETS TO COLONIZE. The most optimal path to winning the game on larger map sizes with lots of planets IS TO BUILD NOTHING EXCEPT COLONY SHIPS FOR THE FIRST 50 TURNS. Use Colonizer to rush buy shipyards on
Custom race: Get Colonizer Trait (free Shipyard with each new colony) and Patriotic (no LEP). Get Fast +2 Speed and maybe Sensors +2, and +2 Military Production. Then on Insane do NOTHING except build colony ships and shipyards. LITERALLY: DO NOTHING EXCEPT BUILD COLONY SHIPS AND RUSH BUYING SHIPYARDS WITH COLONIZER. Choose Thalan Tech and prioritize Gaia Vortex. Get Benevolence Level: +2 Pop upon colonization. Then prioritize Benevolence
Yor tech is great. The problem is the "synthetic races" part. Choosing synthetic race is actually a DEBUFF. What you want is Yor Tech with a Non-Synthetic race. Food is a problem (Yor tech "farms" only work for synthetic pop) so get +2 Food Trait and trade for Monsantium +1 food resources.
Yeah. Shipyards should be updated to be able to build larger hulled ships. You start with the dinky shipyard initially and you go from there.
Yor tech with NON-synthetic races and God-like AI with "expansionist" and a few other custom tweaks and the AI is like totally awesome at economic growth. The key is Yor tech WITH a non-synthetic race on suicidal. Yor tech is surprisingly good with non-synthetic races.
Do you prefer wide or tall? Would you like it slow or fast?
Get the mods and your problems will be fixed.
I may have expanded a little too much. Now my economy is like Greece's. [e digicons]:-"[/e]
Change LEP to -0.2 Money/Planet and it should solve your concern for the very very large maps.
Get the better AI mods.
WHAT HAVE YOU CREATED??????? (Set all of the AI to expansionist. THEY'RE OUT EXPANDING ME ON SUICIDAL DIFFICULTY). How did this happen???? HOW????????? HOW???????????? THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!!!! I AM SUPPOSED TO BE INVINCIBLE. INVINCIBLE!!!!!
Damn you. I can't put Colony Modules on Tiny or Small Hulls anymore. [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]X([/e] That was an unpleasant surprise.
100% research isn't that much by the time you get it, though - it's like 2 free research buildings on planets specialized for research.
Which means that the OTHER level 5's are underpowered (the ones that give +50% morale and +25% production).
Ohhhhh. Well then. Looks like I have to start another game. Not that I have a problem with it. Which raises a question: if I download a new mod version, will it apply to an old saved game? There is a cheat called "resources" that removes ALL resource costs. Will that also apply to the AI if I use it for myself?
Also, how do you remove the Durantium Cost of Large Hulled ships? The problem is I chose a map with virtually ZERO asteroids, and thus no Durantium.
Quantum is still too powerful, I think, considering that the other Benevolent lines give +50% of something.
Uh, does it work with your mod Naselus?
