Back in FE, I thought the Gold Mine was only available in the scenario. I never once encountered it, until my most recent LH game.

Most good traits are generally useful. That's why they are good traits. The first 4 races/traits you discuss are my favorites as well, for example. Some choices I don't really understand, like Armorer or Warlord: I would pick those if I wanted to use large armies. All my other picks would reflect that as well, so I would still be pretty s#d if there's no Iron and/or Crystal.

Thanks for fixing this, Derek! I did notice this line in the notes for 1.5: '' Familiars will not get bonus levels if their summoner get bonus levels on his summons'' As far as I know, those Summons never had extra levels? At least not in my last 1.4 game. Or did you change that after reading this post, and removed it again directly afterwards? While bonus levels might be cool, they could be OP. With your fi

Ridiculous is the second highest level. I prefer Inspiration (water) over Enchanted Hammers, as it's relative bonus is a lot bigger in the early game. EH might be more useful in the long run, but I usually have access to it by then.
That big nasty Fire Drake guarding the only Iron resource near me, and all other iron resources is too faraway, so I suicided lots of Militia armies just to get at that sweet sweet iron just to upgrade the weapons. I mass like ten armies of militia and auto resolve them all. After they all done suiciding I send in my bestest armies on same turn and attempt to finish the drake off, it usually succeeds. yeah, those militia only had wooden clubs and clothes. The

Phew, I am glad there's some discussion about Fire. Because all the consensus in this thread is making my head spin. Come on people, this is a forum on the Internets! Where's all the flaming and trolling? Geez [e digicons]:troll:[/e]

The trait Sovereign Bond grants the ability to summon a Familiar. That Familiar always starts at level 1, even though you are a Summoner or have Summoning I-III. For example, Ceresa is both a Summoner and has Sovereign Bond. However, her Familiar will always be level 1. This is in 1.4 and has been this way since the beta. It seems like a bug to me or is it working as intended?
One of the best mass combat spells of all is pull of the earth which causes enemies in an area to lose their next turn. But again, this is not from a spell school, but rather a promotion on the mage path. My sovereign will take the mage class with prodigy(?) route to reduce spell resistance until the promotion that reduces combat casting times by 1, picking up pull of the earth on the way. Now he can cast

With so many different uses for spells, it's hard to rank the Schools. I guess that's a good thing. Let's see, there are tactical damage spells; tactical utility/CC; 'economical' city enchantments; military city enchantments and strategic spells in various forms. I could rank the spell schools in each category and add up the results...although each category's worth is highly dependent on play style and preference. Also, some schools have (virtually) nothing to

I fully agree with Crastiloowa. I'm running (FE and) FE:LH on my laptop as well. Never had any issues. My pc is more optimized for games than yours, but it has an ancient graphics card, yours is much better. Your card and the game must really have some issues that need to be solved...
If all the abilities of the race and all of the abilities of the sovereign were picked randomly, it would probably be just as good as Resoln is.
Haha, take a good look at all the Faction traits again. Specifically the ~15 traits you have never considered selecting before. Anyway, even though your report is fairly long, I would still like to know the pace of your game. How many turns did it take

As in the old days, try to turn off as many programs running in the background as you can. On my pc, that really makes a difference.

Just like in real life, there's no absolute truth :) High Essence is great for Conclaves, because they can get a building that provides +1 research and mana per Essence (that's apart from any spells!) They even get bonuses to Research, so yes, high Essence is great for Conclaves. However, the warlords on this forum will point out that high Essence spots are great places to build troops, as you can use very powerful +1 bonus-per-Essence city enchantments to build elite

Could people stop quoting me out of context? Thanx [e digicons];P[/e] I don't like the passive part of the Wraith trait, because I loath the dodge/accuracy model. The HP penalty really hurts Ceresa. The active ability, Wraith Touch, is flavorful and very useful. You are right, I did not mention the 3d part of the racial feature: the unit options. I could say it's because you should never build units as Resoln anyway, or I could say I did not want to e
Critical hits cause twice the normal amount of damage to be dealt to the target. However, since individual figures in a unit each make their own rolls to hit and for damage, it isn't terribly unlikely to get damage within the normal range.
Are you sure individual figures also roll to hit? So if I see 'dodge' after a 6 figure unit attacks, all 6 of them missed? That sounds a bit hard to believe...
Quoting deathcoy, reply 10Spells to destroy, Elemental/Summons are disposable tanks to protect your Champions/Sovereign. Am i playing it right? Yes, pretty much. Blizzard with -1 casting time is your army killer. The Earth line is currently much better than the Fire line, but make sure you get Skeleton Horde first. Most summons are better cast Tactically; for example, a tactical Earth Elemental damages surrounding unit

I am afraid there is nothing but the in-game help. No manual, no FAQ anywhere. But you can always ask anything on this forum :) Scholar: the bonus is universal and applied automatically. Armorer: the bonus is universal.

In my experience, AI's will declare war on you if you are weakest. On higher levels, they will 'automatically' start to dislike you every 100 or so turns. My best guess in your case is you probably have one or more AI sovereigns who are 'manipulative' and have bribed others into declaring war on you. So it's nothing personal, they are just greedy bastards [e digicons]:erk:[/e]

Interesting topic. There are probably too many factors to put it in a nice formula, but I applaud the effort! Basically, the new city must be 'worth more' than the burden of unrest on all your existing cities. The problem is, like Apheirox already mentioned, that older cities are more developed and a reduction in their research and production will hurt your kingdom much more than a new city will add when founding it. (Global) unrest reduction buildings can

Alexan the Beetle has the same issue. Level 3, mage, 2 spellbooks but not a single trait. He even has a weakness. I can only assume it's intended and a (apprentice) spellbook counts as 2 traits, just like creating a Sovereign. Although he still shouldn't have a weakness, if you compare him to level 1 heroes.
Fireball is still 1 and Horrific Wail is still 2. I don't know which spells you are talking about, but these major ones stayed the same, and by that I mean before the -1 cast time. In LH, mages using these spells do tons more damage than the FE mages using these spells and these were arguably the two most powerful in the game in FE. Note also, these spells didn't get a damage nerf at the same time everything got a
Funny, since the defender was nerfed moving from FE to LH. Dodge used to be 2/3/4 and now its just 2/2/2. Shield Wall used to be something you could get early on when it mattered most, now it's at the very end of the tree. It used to have +exp, but that was moved to commander instead. Mages which were already the most powerful were made even better with -1 cast time which, btw, is far earlier
