I've finally been able to play a bit using a custom faction on the default maps or random generated ones with auto save turned off however auto save still creates a save if i try to use the default factions or campaigns though. I'd really like to be able to experience the story within the campaign, which is the main reason i bought the game to begin with.
As the title says i am unable to disable the auto save within the game while on the campaign or randomly generated maps. The options are there where they should be, and i can change the slider uncheck the auto save box.. but it saves regardless. Is there some file outside of the game where settings are stored i can try editing? This auto save every turn creates huge delays after each turn (between 5 and 30 minutes which was where i just quit) and makes this game really undesirable to play.</p
I have a fresh install fully updated through steam and am using windows XP. I've gone through the tips in the sticky about improving performance on windows XP, as well as disabling the auto saves at the end of turns. Whenever i press end turn, even at the start of the first turn i end up waiting 5-25 minutes for the game to move on to turn 2. I've tried both the campaign and the free for all (in combos of big-small maps with varying # of AI players) and this is occuring every time. Ev
