Okay I'll take a shot what I can here. The y adapter can work but only if you have a motherboard/video card intended to be used with one enables multiple display. Dell made some of these, the cables have a special pin out and requires some proprietary hardware. Otherwise you are out of luck to do it with a splitter type of cable. I and others here play multiplayer strategy games regularly over many sessions which far exceeed 20+ hours in total length.
I'm sorry if this is already an option but I haven't found it if so. I find that at times if I am against a weak army, I could by playing out the fight easily win without the loss of units, if I straight out auto-resolve I end up losing the weakened units in my armies. So I enter the fights, take out the dangerous enemies and then would like to be able to click the turn by turn autoresolve to baby sit and be sure the 1 hp spearmen doesnt charge to the front and die. I can confirm that killing the boss does not convert the swamp, as I thought this would help with the plethora of Haunter armies. I went after the him asap. The swamp remained until I had explored the special tiles.
i'd suggest keeping the unique flavor of the faction and adding a cumulative chance to enrage each combat. While enraged the animal cannot be tamed and converts to the opposite side.
Been following the forums since 2010, also one of those players who enjoyed MoM multiplayer via the save game hack. Adding MP in any form to FE will only increase it's appeal and allow more players to enjoy the game.
