I've been trying to upload an avatar but it doesn't seem to work. I tried multiple times both whith Chrome and Firefox but to no avail. When I click on upload, a progress bar pops up, fills up in less than a sec then disappears but nothing changes. Since I see some poster with avatars, the system seems to be working for some people at least. Does anyone have any idea what is going on ?

I used lower land extensively to create passage ways in mountain range and it worked great. For raising land I didn't try it personally but I read you need to do it twice on an ocean tile to go from ocean->beach->plain. You may have to start on the coast and work outward.
This way, I can build 7 barracks in my fortress and get my troops uber-trained and uber-specialized.
Don't forget that you unlock new improvement with research. You can't build 7 barracks but you can build the barrack then the command post then another one which names elude me. Then you have the other line of buildings that adds + defence to your troops. So no seven barracks but at least 6 (if not 8 I'm not sure

You don't get the city gildar production as income, only the % from the tax. If your taxes are set to None you won't get any income from cities no matter how many gildar generating improvement you build.

I find that one of the specific trait of this game is that the world you play in will dictate to a large extent what strategies you can develop. You have to adapt your playstyle to the randomness of the map. In my last game, I didn't have any crystal mine nearby so I didn't have a choice but to go for archers for my range troops. And even if you have some crystal mines, as Kalin pointed out you still have to make some choices on what to spend them on, range magical troops or t

I am not very experienced yet (only my first game going on) but so far I found that initiative seems really important as it allows you to attack more often of course but also move more often which gives you more tactical options and increases you survivibility. Because of that I stayed away from Mace type weapons and went with swords mainly. But since I don't like to limit my options too much, I would like to know what are good situations to use slow blunt w

You can also make mounted troops with wild wargs if you don't have horses around. Same priciple, build the kennel on the wargs, research the right tech and design your units with wargs.
