really annoying, i agree. this makes manual improvement placement un-fun to have on. the solution seems fairly simple, don't automatically highlight any construction option until we've clicked on at least one of them

i don;t see why monsters are allowed to attack cities at all . i guess defending a city against a dragon can be an epic battle, but for the most part it just feels cruel and unfair. i'm rather fond of the Civ IV method, where barbarians would come in different types, the wild animal sort being unable to enter your borders, let alone attack your cities. Also in ffh, dragons were leashed to their lair, i'm not sure if that's the case here :/
why does the dragon hurt itself when it breathes fire. that definitely makes no logical sense. fixit D:
i second this. i;ve seen a few duplicated spells
i noticed that if you click on a caravan, it says something like: current road level: trail 19 trips to next road level and there's a little progress bar. what is this all about ? do caravans somehow upgrade your roads? given the rate that they get eaten by ogres, and the average length of a "trip", i'm not sure if i've ever even seen the second road level in a 300 turn game
i want outposts with built in defenders, like in kohan II. i don't like this strange idea of leaving empty fortresses all over the map like a big ghost world, it's creepy. And the way they change hands instantly, if so much as a pioneer walks on top of them, it just seems wrong. it would at least make holding territory easier, and not make outposts like whackamole.
a balanced game IS fun Not in a singleplayer game.
yes in a singleplayer game. i've written long treatises on this subject before, i'd rather not repeat it. i could open a new thread and spend 40 minutes writing an essay if you really want to debate this subject ^^
You can focus too much on balance, but a balanced game is more fun for all of us (Those that disagree doesn't count, obviously )
well ok, sometimes it does get a bit silly. like in dota/hon where you occasionally get entire updates to change 1 HP or reposition a single tree :p but we're not talkng about a competitive e-sport here, i doubt any level of balancing evffort on FE is going to do anything n

i don't think it's possible to focus too much on balance. a balanced game IS fun^.^ i agree that it can be time consuming though, as a compromise i'd like to just see hotseat multiplayer, if possible.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to mention it. this was one of the first things i noticed in my first play of the game, but i guess it's one of those things you get used to and tune out. the rivers in fallen enchantress are really, really ugly. it has to be said. Among their faults: -The water is a different colour from the ocean it flows into -The water texture is different (far worse) than the 3d-looking ocean waves. rivers
i always thought a bonus for being idle was silly to begin with. But i'm guessing the idea is that if you want to use it, ou have to actually stop building things. not just build everything there is to do, then idle. if necessary, use gold to buy things that are needed instead of building them ?
an ai using curgen's volcano on you would not be fun at all :p that spell should at least have some multi-turn casting time before triggering, and some maximum range away from the caster, so the victim can have an opportunity to stop it by killing the caster.
it boggles me why you would build a conclave on a site without essence :p personally, i think it makes perfect sense. Dop you know of anything your local chemist sells that will mend a broken leg in one gulp? The apothecary potions are clearly magical. and logically, you'd need to gather magical ingredients from a magical garden and recite magical chants over the cooking pot while drawing energy from the land or somesuch, conclaves are for essence! essence free sites shoul
Haven't yet raised an army of level 30 heroes though, obviously need to train more Bards.
you give them all the bard ability, shieldwall ability, and a spellsphere each of your choice. Altar. They are quite frankly, the most powerful by a very long way, and also the most enjoyable imo. You haven't tasted power until you've roamed the world with an Epic army of seven heroes, all of them >lvl 30. Make your soverign a mage (since henchmen have only limited magical capability) and use your army of henchmen as carriers for all the legendary weapons you inevitably pick up while adventuring. Watch entire empires fall to your little handful of people. For
i've said it before but i feel like repeating it, freeze and tremor are grossly overpowered spells. being able to indefinitely hold an army in place for such a meagre manacost isn't reasonable at all, imo. It allows you to completely ignore defending your cities, and to be able to just stop an enemy for as long as you need to call in reinforcements, thus removing a lot of planning from empire defense. It would be fairer if it was at least affected by magic resistance, so an army with
i'd love to see an ai that can actually stand up to my elite lv30 henchman stacks :D imo to stand a chance, they'd need to be making use of strategic spells before the battle. I'm not even sure the ai uses strategic spells at all, aside from Curse City occasionally. i've never once been hit with a tidal wave or tremor (And once the AI DOES start using it properly, i'm sure everyone will suddenly realise how overpowered tremor really is) They also need to st

Sincerely ~ Kongdej
ah a good point. well i got the details slightly wrong, but i think my argument is still valid ^^ as kantok says, the opportunity cost balances it.
maybe, but i'm not sure i agree. I usually either take the cruel penalty, or the clumsy penalty, the negatives from either are small enough to be inconsequential. And i exploit this to get one extra trait point. Doing what you're suggesting, you get your free tech and your 6 trait points. But doing what i do, gets me 7 trait points. Clumsy is essentially irrelevant for ranged or mage heroes, and it doesn't even trigger very often in melee. a free tech isn't ver
i'm sure i've missed a few times, and it didn't even say "miss", it just seemed like nothing at all happened.
You can also use it to deliberately widen your city, to cover gaps in terrain and restrict the movement of monsters and enemy troops
