The IGDA in DC is pretty big and most of the people from when I lived there were college kids from MD. I will give them a heads up.

Why on earth would you want to lock it to FireFox?
One of my favorite things to do to Yithril on a city map is to put 1 or 2 really strong units guarding a choke point and have 1 or 2 heros sit there and both slow and shrink their whole front lines. While I am doing that, I can have some ranged guys attack their front line units and kill them off down to 1 physical body (down from 6 or whatever). Then I can just sit there and defend the whole combat while I have a couple units fire over their heads and kill all the enemy units o
I have switched almost entirely to digital distribution now and I wish I could hand over the rest of my CDs to get digital DLs of those games. I am the person that buys an old game off ebay and then when it arrives the CD is cracked and I wasted all my money. Digital DLs can just be re-DLd if the DL messes up. I can't ever get those CDs fixed. No way no how. Most of my library is on Steam, so unless Valve goes under those games are going to be available f
Jafo - My theory is that if MSFT would have changed the UI around so that it was markedly different every time, people would not have really cared about 7 --> 8. People got the expectation of relatively small change because that is what they were given for quite a good while. Nobody was owed small change at any point. Kinda funny how the nice to have's become things people get pissed off about when they don't have it. I don't see any good reason why

Mages with leather armor are just fine. In fact, it is good in a lot of games to give them the extra defense even if they traditionally only use robes in those games. I am more of a "cover up the weak spot" kinda player than a "beef up the strengths" kinda player, so keep that in mind.
Thanks for making a mod fix for this even if I probably won't use it.
Vista and 7 are essentially the same things, just 7 has less annoying UACs. All Vista really did wrong was the UACs were way too annoying. Nobody wants to have to answer "Are you sure?" every time they do anything. Windows 8 has no such problem. Windows 8 works beautifully across the board. It just doesn't have a start menu and people miss it. You should all hope that Windows 9 or whatever it is doesn't come with a start menu, because then t
Not true. Not even close. I would say 8 is less secure since most newbies to 8 have no idea how to install a decent AV program. I would say it goes by a case to case basis. Saying what you said is just plain arrogant. Like if MSFT just decided it wasn't going to get XP users to pay for a new OS anyway and just gave it to them for free, DLd and installed in the background like a service pack. One day people just wake up and they are using Windows 8 all of a sudden.

Windows 8 is a different matter entirely. Vista had a really annoying UAC setup, which I can understand because Microsoft ha
You can start by using capital letters correctly. It isn't polite to type in all caps on the internet. - Edit - Or in RL for that matter, just get used to not doing it ever. After that, you can perhaps try to explain a little better what is happening. Just saying "It doesn't work." doesn't help very much. Are there any error messages? If so, what is the exact text? If there are no error messages, try going step by step through exac
Warrior Culture or Savage Society would be better for what you are describing. Still, it wouldn't make sense for every member of a certain race to be a warrior. In the real world there are a lot of organizations one might say has a warrior culture, like the U.S. Marines. They say every Marine's first job is to be a warfighter and their second job is whatever they do outside of battle (cook, IT, administrative, etc). There are also various commando kind of g
Ah, yes 1UPT does not make sense if you have tactical combat. I was talking about strategic combat. Tactical combat should handle 1UPT and ZOC mechanics...which it does in FE.
Strategic = Macro Tactical = Micro 1UPT makes sense as in FE if there is a separate map you go to for combat. If all the combat occurs on the main strategic map then 1UPT is less useful. This game appears to not have separa
A caste based society never has everyone in one caste. That would negate the whole reason to have castes to begin with. The trait isn't named well, IMHO, but the only logical thing you can take from the name is that the society that picks the trait would have a specific warrior caste and give prominence to it. It's too bad that research speed has to be the same for all 3 types. Being able to differentiate themselves that way would be pretty nice if races coul
I only crash very rarely, but when I do hit a crashing point it happens pretty consistently. I think it is when research completes at the same time that an AI tries to do diplomacy with you. Try to pick a different research and pass the turn, one that won't be complete soon, when that happens. Also, if other people take your save, pass the turn, and then re-post the save, you should be able to start again from there. I had someone do it with one of my saves b
The point is that breaking the exp system in half is meant to require more than an investment of 2 trait picks. It is meant to take the whole race worth of picks that's why it costs 3. Altair gets only those 2 abilities and it is one of the strongest default races as a result. I could see making swords have its own trait, but then wanderlust wouldn't be that great. Better to just leave it like it is and let Altair have swords for free. If I were goi
You kinda shoot yourself in the foot trying to play Ironeer as a magic heavy race. They are totally not built for it. You would do better just picking Capitar race and the rest of the stuff the same as what Ironeer gets standard. Guard Strike is really good, but not good enough to make up for Ironeer blood. You might want to think about using Quendar blood also. Quendar lets you train slave units which are quite a bit worse than regular units, but they have
I have to use both Windows 7 computers and Windows 8 computers on a regular basis and 8 seems to be able to do everything at least as well as 7 can. I have used the start menu since it was invented and when it was gone I didn't really miss it that much TBH. Tiles are fine for everything most people want to do with the start menu anyway. 8.1 put a tiles icon in the lower right for people that didn't care to learn the old way to get to it.
Just get some more experience with the game. Maybe try a different race, it might suit you better. I wouldn't list Gilden as one of the best default races, personally, so handicapping yourself could have to do with it. I would say to make a custom race. Pick traits that sound like something you think goes along with how you want to play. I would say to avoid Ironeer blood if you do, tactical spells are really good, especially against Yithril. Sl
Windows 8 and 8.1 are/were both fine. People are just resistant to change, that's all. It takes a couple days to get used to, just like if you move from Windows to iOS or to Ubuntu Linux, then it's fine. ME and Vista were both horrible, but everything else in the lineup was fine. Once I learned to work in a slightly different way everything was fine and perhaps even better than in Windows 7. No need for Start8 or anything else except for people
1UPT I would say is an advantage for anyone with a strategic mindset because it greatly increases strategic complexity, but it does have a lot of disadvantages as well. I like FE more than Civ5, for instance. A lot of that comes down to race choice being more meaningful, but I also kinda like the more complex tactical battles which it is really kinda hard to do in a game like Civ5 where everything is done on the strategic map and there not even being any tactical combat. I
I have played many hundreds of hours, I assume that I have conquered at least one Deorcnysse in that time. I can't really say for sure, though, because I honestly haven't played that much FE since I became aware that a city named Deorcnysse was in any way special. I wasn't looking specifically for it before and I haven't conquered one with that name since I started looking for it specifically. - Edit - BTW, that is why I made the original suggestion to be
