From the OP -------------- A solution: Give everyone money, the same amount to every man, woman & child, to the tune of at least $500, but no more than $1,000, going – with U.N. supervision – directly and solely to the individuals, untaxed and secured against private or state confiscation. And keep doing it, on an annual basis, so that everyone can make rational economic decisions based on it. ------------- It would

I don't have a really risky play style. Usually, if one of my heroes dies then a large chunk of the army it was in probably died too and I generally try to avoid that. I just won't fight if I think I will lose 1/4 or more of my total forces.

I had the big 4 early PC games for me would have to be Master of Orion, XCom, Doom 1, and Warcraft (1) Orcs and Humans. Duke3D was pretty good too. - Edit - MechWarrior 2 was also really good. I had a Commodore 64, but I never really liked playing anything on it. All I remember playing on it at all was Defender and DigDug. We had a lot of stuff for it, but I never got attached. It wasn't until I got my 486 DX2 66m

I think the earth is a whole lot more resilient than we give it credit for. If we had ice ages and we thawed out there must be some sort of nature based cold defeating thing out there and vice versa for if it gets too hot. Whatever kind of vicious cycles exist it is obvious that they can be put to rest. The earth is a whole lot more resilient than we are. If we do enough damage to her, she will wipe us out and get on with the healing process. Seriously, t

Answer me this: If the world has been moving along just fine for billions of years (or whatever) why hasn't one extreme or the other killed us by now? Surely in however many years the earth has supposedly been in existence, either global warming or global cooling would have gotten to the point that Earth would have frozen solid completely or burst into flames. Either one you want, why did it not happen yet? The answer to that question is that the environment

What I would do is set a min level of "happiness", either at 1/3. That would mean that the AI could never have more than 66% unrest for normal operations and the players would never be above that when conquering cities either. No player in their right mind would ever approach a 66% unrest baseline anyway, so all the advantage of this would be to the AI. If the AI could out-expand the players at 3 for 1 then production would maintain parity with what players are doing wit

GJ failing at constructive criticism. AFAIK, all AIs basically use the same general system to determine diplomacy. It is mostly the types and sizes of modifiers that differ. You are free to suggest a completely new way of doing things, but 99% likely your suggestion won't be taken seriously. Instead, you can figure out which modifiers should be increased or decreased and give justification and GC3 might just be closer to what you would like to see in the end.

Actors of action movies really only have to cover the gaps between action scenes which he did well enough. If people are measured by how much they have helped others or how many will mourn their passing, I am sure Paul Walker will be far ahead of 99% of those trash talking his corpse.

Frogboy provided the funding for it, that could very well be his share of the workload. It may be up to just the Civ 5 people to come up with everything technical. He is still the CEO of Stardock and still has the responsibilities there to worry about. As far as there being no tech demo, it probably hasn't even been completed yet. You can't just bust a brand new top of the line engine out in a few days of a few people's time. I do want to note

Clear forest helps you move around in your own areas better. Whenever I play without Master Scouts, I usually do it to every possible space after I build a lumber mill. Also as he said, I have deleted buildings from conquered AI cities in order to be able to snake with them before as well if there were closeby resources not inside the walls. As Crastiloowa said, the borders of your city don't change if you delete a building, so it can allow you to snake really far...

I think I need to re-examine the Sion if there is no exp split with it. I never made them before because I always imagined them to suck, but being able to upgrade them like a regular unit might not be that bad after all. I am also trying to think of a way to mod the game so that +init boots have priority over +1 AC boots. Maybe the +1 init boots should also have +1 AC? That would make it strictly better, but I don't know if the game engine would see that.

Every time I have ever met Resoln when they had more score than me and when I was a good side race they always DOWd me 1 turn later. I don't take that to mean that the diplomacy system is broken, I just assume that Resoln has some kind of modifier to DOW early. I have not had the same experience when my opponents have been, say, Krax. Krax seems not to DOW very early or easily even though they are also a dark side race. I just kinda assume it is supposed to b

Frogboy was spending his RL evenings trying to make LH better instead of hanging out with family/friends/whatever pursuing his own interests outside of work. Ungrateful people told him he wasn't doing a good job. He doesn't care to spend a lot of his evenings to work on LH if it is just going to result in people saying he is wasting all his time and there is no benefit. I can see why he would give up on LH in light of those things. GJ to those of us who

I would invest in getting them to level 8 and getting -5 unrest for the entire empire if it is reasonably achievable. That is what I do. I get money traits with the other extra levels which lets the unit pay for itself and some others as well.

Chess programs don't use AI. All chess programs do is direct a huge amount of computational power at "trying" every possible combination of moves and counter moves. There is a formula built into the program that gives the computer a basic understanding of how much each piece is "worth" compared to each other piece so when it is done calculating the first long string of moves it saves the "state" of the game as the best possible result. It converts the pieces o

No. I had 6 units counting the hoarder spider and I was running around using it. Then I went into a city that had 2 units in it and I lost 2 units in my regular army, the hoarder spider and something else I don't remember what it was. So I did have the army size capped before I went into the city, but the city should always be able to hold an extra 9, right? I thought extra city defenders weren't ever capped, but if they are capped just like the army then I

I disagree with making female have different stats than male units. Slaves are fine. There is no reason to change those either. It's not like you can't order a slave to suit up in plate mail. The accuracy penalty is barely noticeable since roughly everything has low dodge and the buildings and commanders give tons of accuracy. The initiative penalty does hurt a lot, though. I just use them for city garrison units.
