'hand writing' effect is a BAD idea. I want to be able to read what's on the screen and that should be done in a legable manner. Can we have some stardock comment on this one, as several have the same concern?? Thanks
Reduced tech costs
Woot! Woot! Was hoping for that reversal. Not reducing the resource improvement costs though?? Also, either pioneers have to be cheaper, or scouts need to be able to settle outposts...as is, pioneers take too much time in the build queue.
leroy105 has the right of it. Heroes level too fast and outshine troops. In addition, the longer research times further amplify this imbalance. Recommend dialing back hero XP a bit, and shave research times considerably. In addition, early game build times need to be reduced in order to produce your econo
Good catch.
They were useful in 0.92, but currently they are useless, because the Sovereign levels very fast.
That's exactly it. Heroes should NOT be able to level so fast, thus making these traits useful, or at least viable choices, once more.
Overall the font is better than before. However, in many areas like tatical or quest pop-ups there is an italic aspect added in. This is MUCH harder to read than non-italic and I respectfully request that that italic be removed. Anyone else experiancing the same???

Bumping this thread to ask the question again: In 0.980, has the 'no-snaking allowed' bug been fixed? Can we now build cities away from rivers and forests and snake over to build piers + lumbermills respectively???
While I wouldn't be as extreme as to say 0.980 has been a 'disaster', I do agree with Tuidjy in ALL his points. 0.980 has been a step backwards in production with the exceptions of AI and Monster strength. If I could have the city building/empire expansion from 0.951 (0.952 was too fast) and the

Added "Game Seven, Part 2" to the OP.
[0.98] Beta 5 Good Morning I’m going to continue my "comments series" as I play my games. Don’t know if Stardock is listening/reading, but some people are, so I’ll keep posting. This will be my seventh game to post. I'm going to run with Cersea again and see where it leads... Game Seven, Part 1: [Applause] :o WOW. Nice intro cut scene! Sound was a little too much base, but that might have been just my sound setup.
I do have a question/recommendation: Is there a tracker attached to the program? Something to record the made quests and send the information back to FE so that they can merge ideas into the final release?? Or, perhaps, is there an export function so that giving the raw quest data to Stardock is made simple?? Just a thought...
I loved civ 2. [e digicons]X([/e] THAT was empire management. If Fraxis tossed in resources and culture, like in civ 4, into civ 2, I'd never of played another civ again. In the end, like all TBS, the end game became killer boring. But there is still hope in FE, right? [e digicons]:-"[/e]
Now, I am happy to make my own balance to my own tastes. I can even release a mod to let other people play the game how I think it should go.
I may be calling you up for that if FE continues in the direction it seem's to be going. ;) Stardock could be holding back though....makes all the recommended changes we've all suggested, but not implementing them because they know it's balanced any works....savi
Anyone else think that city building queues are already too slow ?
See my first bullet. XD Can't queue buildings if pioneers are always there. In addition, improvements always got the priority because of they're relative short build time (usually the 3 turn limit), so city improvements always seem to be put on hold. Also, still no chance at squeezing troops into that queue too. It's just too m
The intent is that the player adjusts his strategy based on the randomness of the maps. Without that, where do you draw the line? Do you Ctrl+N until you get nearby iron or crystal? What about a nearby fire shard for your fire based custom sovereign? If you have good locations you have to have comparatively bad locations. If you want them all to be "good" then you probably want a starcraft type b
Woot! Woot! Many many good additions being added to the next beta. Looking forward to playing it. Am a little sad though. As I understand it, this will be the last beta and only balancing from here on out. That means the following may never be fully and satisfactorily modified or improved upon (I'm not going to say 'fixed' because there isn't necessarily anything 'broken' with the current system, just that, imo, it could have been better):</p
It doesn't look like you can mount pioneers to make them move faster. There may be a good reason for this, but it seems like something that I might want to do at some point.
This one is strange, cause I successfully accomplished mounting a pioneer in one game I was playing. Next game, no such luck. However, I was playing Magnar and now I'm playing Gilden. Perhaps certain factions have the ability to mount pioneers and others don't?
