Hello, since last week, I’ve been able to participate to the beta of Fallen Enchantress. So I apologize if my experience with this game is not as wide and as thorough as other beta testers. From these first hours with FE, what struck me was the fact that a part of the game designs were inscribed into a trifunctionalist approach, but that this way of thinking and balancing the game has not been pushed into a complete transcription of this concept. But first, I must define w

Soldiers are rank and file grunts. You've chosen their equipments and teached them how to fight when you've designed their unit. When 7 out of 8 guys are killed in a battle and the survivor gains XPs, how do you explain bonuses given to them? Gains in HP and some attack/defence seems to be good enough. The solution is to rearm and drill again if you want to give them new attributes and this solution is already given to you. They are unknown and unnamed guys doomed to anonymous

But, that being said, the current game mechanic is fine, doesn't matter really either way. I rarely have a need for an army of more than 6 any way. He's wrong. As well as summoning, Fantasy is full of spells to charm, seduce, lure, transform. At this stage, have we any spell to force à creature on the strategic map to join our cause? Have we got a spell, to transform an enemy in a less dangerous oponent (frog or sheep transformation)? There could also be a possibility for new schools of magic that could be new disciplins without shards able to have effects: - Astral in link with stars, moon and sun as always be

A little explanation why FM won't be a game to remember at this stage. It is defined as an epic fantasy strategy game. For me it's not a strategy game of world domination. Strategy Is defined as applying instruments of power (military, politics, diplomacy, financial, religious, social, cultural) on 3 domains (physical, ideas, moral) to reach an objective or end term. It is declined in 4 scales (politicai, strategic, operational and tactical): sometimes the first two are linked

I think you're not alone feeling the same way with this game. I bought WoM in late december and I'm still waiting to have the right to enter the beta phase. So far I'm not happy with decisions taken. I've read the forum and you're the first one that seem to have the same expectations. I've played a lot of fantasy strategy games : Master of magic, lord of magic, HoMM, Age of wonder, King's Bounty and the only I'm still playing. Why because it has a system
