How about this. Get it to at least as good as Master of Magic was for overall theme, playability and ease of use (yes, despite the memory-hog problems of getting it started), and we'll talk. I've long hoped this would be a valid sequel to that game (which I still go back and play to this day), but so far, it's been a renewed let down with each patch.

Unfortunately I have to rather agree with the OP. And Rechnelis2's avatar rather makes my point. I recently got MoM from gog.com and I've been playing the hell out of it. You cast a perm spell on a unit, it glows. if you have magical weapons, mithril, adamantite.. you can see it in the unit-info. I understand the desire for a tech-tree. And to a degree it makes sense.. .But there is the feel that it's more about 'tech' than mag
And it's threads like this that make me somewhat glad I still only have v1.09e and magic isn't yet nerfed. But so far it really isn't the game that I paid for...
Unfortunately Impulse or Elemental won't let me have it. I'm stuck at v1.09e (and YES, I can see and technically update BETA versions.. Save it does the download, extract, copy, install... even tells me 'update complete'... and then it still shows v1.90e.. dammit)
Hey, sounds like Master of Magic... Which I've actually gone back to playing. I love where Elemental is going.. but it's just so not there yet sadly.
Because an army only moves as fast as it's slowest person. So if someone with 0 movement points left 'joins' an army.. the max speed for that turn is 0.. they're too damned tired to go any further. If you don't want him to join (and lose the points) then make sure you click PAST the group.
A 'pure' way like that.. not yet, usually requires knocking at least one other civ on their ass. though thanks to always having kids/grandkids who are channellers (and with that nice EoT heal & mana-recover(so far)).. I just keep a couple of them around to patrol my overall land area.. and nothing really survives. NOTE: Due to some screwup with Impulse.. or Elemental itself, I'm stuck at v1.09e (official patch).. It won't patch me up to any Betas even though
I honestly liked it the way it was first done (and still is in the full-release version) where it costs essence (lowers max-essence) for the Sov.. makes sense.. works well.. keeps you leveling the Sov j ust to keep the essence 'up' if you want to keep doing imbues. And it made perfect sense, and that you couldn't dispel it, which seems idiotic in the first place
And speaking of which, WHY do the shops stop selling the +1 move boots?
Well, it's in the manual.
+10 .. been wanting this a while too now It would also be nice to see on the 'for sale' screen what that champion has on/equipped (Even if not for sale). It can be easy to mix-up a bit if there's 3 or 4 champions in a group
Ditto here CdrRogdan.. I ALWAYS imbue the spouse (hell, i always imbue the first 2-5 champions I hire-on). And I've never had a kid/grandkid/great-grandkid/etc ever NOT be a channeler. They have that ability (plus the +1 or +2 health/mana recovery, and usually another perk too.
I was (re) reading the manual last night, and it says something about Sovereigns (and regular champions?) getting special-ability upgrades once they hit a certain level. Notably the level was NOT included. I assume it's possible I've won before they hit that level... I think I've only gotten up to around 9th or so, but I think I did get the double-digits once. Never saw an 'upgrade' or 'special ability' option outside of when I made the char. Is this even implemented ye
Ok.. I finally decided to get on the same page as many of you guys, and get the beta patches... Here's the problem.. it sometimes takes me 5 times to get one patch.. I see it prep, download, copy,install... and the patch-level doesn't increase. It's been at 1.09e for the last 6 tries now.. WTF??? Do I need to run the game first to let it all 'take' then patch again, or should I be able to run through one at a time? Also.. why the hell won't it just do from
Is that one trait/skill/talent that the campaign Sov has that lets EVERYONE in the same army move with him ever going to be in the regular game?
i just dont understand why not use the books in mom .. choose your set, and research from that, get lucky ingame and find more
+100000000000000000000000.. I'll be honest... I have yet to find a fantasy 4X game that compares favorably with MoM, even with the incredible snowball effect of the later game. For the life of me, I can't figure out why there was never a sequel made. Or
I think part of the bug I'm running into, is that if you get a... 'potion' quest.. lets say... by going to a lvl 2 hut (quest)... and the 'target' is near a different sovereign. you technically complete the quest. BUT, since the champion/sov who GOT the quest, never got the item.. it doesn't count as completed. and if you USE the potion (like an essence-gain one) you can technically never finish the quest. which seems rather silly to me
Honestly, I tend to just do a bit of round-robin for the non-diplomacy ones. So I can get techs across the board as quick as possible. Initial order: Magic (shards or essence boost)... This way I can get an outstanding resource fast, OR, help my sovereign with essence so that I can imbue champion early for more magickal OOmph in combat. 2nd is usually adventuring for goodie-hut boost (usually about 2:1 goody-hut/quest.. since the exploring side also opens up more
What school/book is it in? Is it empire or humans? Both? I've never seen it, or the entropy book. The ones I've seen: Air, Fire, Earth, Water, Enchantment (Base) and then Summoning, Life and Combat later
Quoting cfehunter, reply 3this should be fixed but in all honesty, why are you walking around with your sov on his own? That's asking for trouble. True but if not for tangle web I could have take them all in about three rounds with hardly a scratch.
Hell, could have taken all of them in 1 round with Infernal... and without a scratch. things like this make me now make sure I always
I'm still fairly new to the game, so only playing on the normal-range level, maybe a bit higher.. Due to this, i don't usually build huge armies, but have the Sov with some imbued champions out as my main attack/defense crews. What has now happened a few times to my great annoyance.. Is that while I'm out exploring, expanding, building, etc.. I suddenly get a message that X city just got defeated by monsters.... HUH???? Ok.. I go and l
speaking of the schools/elements of the magics... 1) If you don't start with all the books of magic (the 5 you can start with), what does it take to get them? I just unlocked the life/sorcery/combat books, but still haven't been able to study/research the 3 elemental books i didn't start with (I took enchantment and fire to start. as fire does just do good damage) 2) Yes, most spells do or should have counter. Not that big a stretch... also.. y
A few games I've started/played now.. I run into an annoying problem over and over. After a certain point (though I couldn't tell what that point is), sometimes the quest-giving huts (lvl 2 I think?) will deactivate..... staying visible, and not giving a new quest And as an aside... the 'hint of where to go' that supposedly happens with all multi-part quests... doesn't always move properly.. and get VERY EASILY hidden in existing cities. Especially other-soverei
Well.. .I have to agree. I've now played a good few games.. and even when I can walk around with 'just' my sovereign.. who CAN wipe out an army solo fairly easily.. it just doesn't have the 'epic' feel of MoM... with the world-altering spells. the few city-enhance/detriment spells ARE boring. deadly so. The only one I bother with is the food one, because I expand FAST early on. I'd never get far without Nature's Bounty. I also miss being able to design your own equipment like in
That's what I thought but, I have settlements one with 80 people with only 3 huts ( 3 x 25 = 75) and another with 90 pepole and only 3 huts (3 x 25 = 75)?
Even without huts, you have a max pop of 10... so add 3x25 (75) to that, is 85 cap.... Also, there is a 'housing' type tech, that actually increases all pop cap by 10% total (not sure if once, or each time).. So.. 10% of 85 is 8.5.. round up to 9 (or down to 8,
