Actually my complaint is from my side. I don't have to deal with killing juggernauts, AI does. And both AI and monster don't have a chance. My complaint is that once I get Juggernauts it is pointless to build anything else. Warg troops are useful for patrolling your borders and quick response to intrusions, but for straight up fighting there is nothing better then juggers, at least not at that tech level (medium armors and weapons). They should not have both maul and backswing, they g

I feel they are not balanced at all. They are so much better then anything at the tech level you get them. Built all units I can at that level using weapons and armors provided and Juggernauts just make them all look silly when fighting together. Warg riders and best weapon+armor troops do shit. Juggernauts have maul and backswing. They also get area attack. I manage to kill crazy powerful monsters with a Juggernaut 1v1 when another 5man (squad?!group?! - don't remember the name)

Metacritic user reviews are rather infamous because they're so easy to "review bomb" with unreasonably low scores which drag down the average. In some cases (for instance, Diablo 3), you'll have people registering dozens of times just to push a score down as low as possible.
Rare cases like D3 or Dragon Age 2 deserve it :D

Goty awards are always voting contests so most popular games always get it. It has nothing to do with quality. Even if FE was 2x better it would never win it due to not enough people enjoying these kind of games. XCOM was severely dumbed down for it to appeal to mass audience. Yes it fun in it own way but it is not half the quality of a 15+ year old game. BTW if ME3 didn't have such a huge outcry about the end I would bet it would win Goty everyw
I find tactical combat a bit too easy on Classic. Sometimes you can get caught with an unfortunate series of events, but my kill/death ratio seems to always be somewhere between 20:1 and 30:1. I guess things are moderately challenging early on, but once you get to the end game the only things that are even somewhat challenging are if you somehow aggro multiple sectopods. Basically aliens need to move around more. Most

I been playing in Classic Ironman from the start. I lost/quit like 3 games and then after an irritating bug decided to play Classic without ironman and only load the game when such a bug appears again. But I didn't :D So after a while I was so imba with 2 squad sight snipers with plasma rifles the game became boring and too easy so I restarted in classic ironman again. Only this time I knew what I was doing and I got a perfect game going where I lost 0 countries, I got full tech a

And that should also include Paradox's Crusader Kings II, East vs West, and Sengoku, all of which are roughly a year old or less. If you meant to ask, "Is FE the best strategy game of the last year?" they al

Thank you for your kind words Brad. I will be stopping my X-Com play to try the full version when it comes. Although I will be getting it for free due to buying WoM in 2010 so you don't get any more money from me I am sure to tell everyone who likes these kind of games to play it. And I hope some of my feedback helped a bit. I wasn't as active as I wanted, but that is only because of Path of Exile and giving feedback on their forums :D BTW X-com developers are so quiet
Yeah the random misses at high hit percentages can be annoying. For those life-or-death situations you either want to get it all the way up to 100% to hit (flanking is good for this) or use a rocket or grenade, or create more chances to hit (sniper standing by to execute using Squadsight, for instance). You can still shoot twice in a round, you just need to be a Heavy with Bullet Storm, or an Assault with Rapid Fire (granted it&

I don't even want to write a longer reply because I'm going back to playing it.
Maybe to you. To me the original is way better game. This game is still good and fun. I just don't really consider it a real x-com game. Also it being made for consoles and then ported to PC didn't help

I played the original game which I quit after I figured out it was a glorified version of rock/paper/scissors. Each mission you would start with whatever, see what kind of enemies await you and then load save before the mission and customize your fleet so it hardcounters what the enemy throws at you. And if you didn't do that (like me) you could not finish missions. I hate games like that.

Thanks for the writeup Frogboy. I know I been pretty critical in the past but it is only because I want this game to be the best it can be. And the game is way above what WoM was. Just squish as many bugs as you can and make the balance better and the game will be ready to go. It is already fun, not 90 or 85 metacritic fun, but it could get there.

No there are other way to play. Like take a faction with good fighting sovereign and take him around on leveling spree. Then you can clear the map just with him. SD first try at balancing heroes failed. I had an extremely easy time to win like this. And only died once during it when I was

I wanted to add a bit more why I think current food/growth mechanic is not good. Well maybe it is but not for my playstyle. I played all Civ games and always tried to avoid building many cities. Often my extra city would be what I would conquer. I would build many cities only if I needed resources to be able to build stuff. As I said current food/growth mechanics in FE don't support this. Let me explain by comparing with Civ (it needs to be done, just like any

Let me add more problems: 21. We need to be able to stop city and unit enchantments directly from city screen and unit screen. If I want to remove Enchanted Hammers from my city and add Growth I should not need to go to mana screen and dispel there. That screen is useful when we want to do general maintenance of mana spending but not for specific cases. 22. Also I noticed a lot of anti-unrest building at higher level of different buildings. Unless you conquer enemy towns

Also I don't want my cities all to get to 5 but once they reach lvl 2 most of them will stop, then you need to spend 30+ turns researching and building to move it a bit. And then a bit more. In my first game my main city was still lvl 2 150+ turns into the game. It was hilarious. And I really did do anything in my power. Built all food build
For the most part I think this is a fine post and I agree with nearly everything in it, but I do disagree with this point: quoting post12. There is not enough food per cities. Buildings give way too little and you have to wait way to long to build or research new ones. Growth is already a good limit on how fast cities grow, food should not be such a bit limit. Maybe it fits thematically but it is so stupid and boring to play with. K

Hi, let me be a good beta tester and give my collection of bugs/problems. 0. Let us see all the units in a stack. I often kill some weak monsters only to find another force of monsters there that is usually 2x or 3x stronger. Also computer likes to have 4-5 stacks of troops and I got no clue about it until I start killing them one by one. This is a must have. I don't plan to play a full version if this is not implemented. Sorry to say so and in such a way but it is a deal
