Oh, interesting post! but i think it will eventually be possible to scientifically prove God exists despite the fact that God has set things up so that he cannot be detected scientifically (for various reasons of faith free will, and probably some aspect of Startreks Prime directive thrown in as well??!!). But God for obvious reasons cannot hide the fact that life exists, and i feel that it is life that must eventually scientifically

But... a couple things I'd like to say. 1) What do you think about the arguement that might suggest that: what you have said presupposes a Creator and then looks for clues to support that idea? 2) Who is to say that life would be impossible (although possibly very different) if the Universe's fundamental values took different values? 3) What is to be sa

And, most importantly, revision of your beliefs in light of new evidence. I personally think that they are polar opposites, but I would be interested in hearing your opinion as well.
In short, here goes my basic assumptions: If there
And I do actually agree with your two bullet points.... but what about personal bias that clouds soooo many people's minds? Why do people always treat science, theology and religion as enemies?
Bias is a constant battle. All we can do is acknowledge that each of us see the world through our own unique rose-colored glasses... and continue to try to be as objective as possible. I think theology and religion are generally considered to be antithetical to scienc

I think the solution is an educated populace taught to critically think. The more the merrier. I have a post on this here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/406807 No known work around other than auto-resolve.
I do Gildar 100% of the time, all cities. Never needed the guardians and the bonuses to arcane or tech aren't really needed imho.
Unless Brad throws in the towel EWOM will continue to improve. He could decide at any time to dedicate the resources to FE or other projects. I hope he doesn't do that - especially if the reason is because of negative forum comments. But at some point there are diminishing returns, especially once sales are at a point it's completely ridiculous to keep throwing money at it. Optimistically we get to enjoy an improving EWOM whilst FE is in development. Shortly before, or certainly once
im on day two of my new game and it has yet to happen again luckily. the only issue is all the memory crashes. this is off topic a bit but does anyone know if there are any mods out there based on wheel of time? units, factions, w/e?
Not any that I'm aware of with any kind of traction. There are some cool mods though in the mods section that help improve the vanilla game - give those a shot sometime.

Turn 88, fresh load, transition cloth/3d map centered on settlement Food1. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19969679/Elemental/120/120_UDFv01n_CAPITAR_dxerror.err
What I would do is start some new games using random vanilla maps of different sizes. If all of those don't experience the problem then you know for a fact it has something to do with your custom map. [Edit] You don't need to actually play them per se. Just start some games and cycle through some turns to see if you can duplicate the same error on the random vanilla maps.
Could be. What is the map size? I think the largest supported is 12 x 8 sectors.
I've never seen this (and I've posted bugs for months here). Do you have any mods installed? I would test a brand new game (turn 1) and see if you can duplicate it with any game, any size map, any faction, etc. [Edit] It sounds like it could be a corrupted save file or something.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 81Oh ok. Well, I'll just relax for the rest of May instead of monkeying with v1.3. i didnt say that its just better that 2-4ppl who are making 1.3 start working on FE
I don't agree. I like the fact that Brad & the small crew are still working on it. A few more vanilla tweaks, bug fixes, and mod support will go a long way imho. I'm excited to see FE too but EOWM's come
I can duplicate this by moving around on the cloth map or zooming in and out on or near settlement Food1. Just happened again, same turn. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19969679/Elemental/120/120_UDFv01n_CAPITAR_79.EleSav
But on the gripping hand, a proper sticky of known bugs helps us feel that issues aren't forgotten whey they dont get patched.
Yeah, that's where I was going with it. There are certain things I'd like to know are design issues vs. bugs (for example the city build tile issue). That could be a design intent (spawns of goodie huts) thus if I knew it was design, I could stop reporting it as a bug a
I've said it before but Edward Bernays' book Propaganda is a fascinating read. Bernays lays it all out in his first paragraph: "The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country." Here's another gem regarding World War I (the book is full

I have a ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series, current drivers. DX diag says I have approx 1,785MB of memory on it. From what I understand the ATI cards don't jive well with the Havok engine.
