Try this. Have your flying unit selected, and zoom in and out from cloth to 3d map with mouse over the chasm tile. It will allow you to select the tile and then move the unit.

I flew my young crow demon into a chasm and then he couldn't get out. He was trapped. After a period of time, he cut off his right wing. That didn't work. I tried to save him, I did. In all seriousness, looks like flying creatures into chasms causes problems.

Man, all this hate and love flying around... I think people need to relax and blow off some Steam! Sorry, lame, I know. For the record no issues with Steam here. Installed it again for SOASE after 10 years or w/e and holy crap, all the old games I had on there from years ago were available for download. I had a library of games on there I completely forgot about.

Bought it. Also ran into the bug where I tried to purchase using the link. It then said I didn't own the game. I had to relog back into stardock's website and buy manually.
