Ya, monster allies are worthless. Only dragons are any good. This is in fact one of those problems that has been around so long I've given up hope of functional monster allies. In fact they seem to keep nerfing monsters more and more, which is weird because they were never any good to begin with.
I have also had a L9 hero have about three different magic traits, and not much else. A L9 unit should have at least 11 traits (not including race trait).
This, a big part of the problem is that champions pretty much never come with base stat traits. Sure its exciting to get a wildling hero that has coalstones, but the fact that hes lv 5 and has no traits beyond coalstones, Air I, Fire I and Mage means hes worthless till you get him to some evoker at level 9. Even the l

Good to know its not just me. A couple of times I was experimenting with a life/earth summoner which led to some funny Bacco beatdowns. Bacco would drunkenly challange me to a one on one only to get mauled by a summoned bear.

Update: Pyre of Man is a terrible terrible caster in both terms of AI and stats. His fireball was thrown at a single wisp and failed to kill it, only dealing like half damage to it. Counterstrike doesn't work on abilities like impale, doublestrike and cleave. Severely reducing the utility of counterstrike. For the sake of balance units should counter when targeted by skills. Oh and sure, everyone feel free to add to the list.

The random event of stumbling upon Baco the Beggar, a lv 5 warrior hero who drunkenly challenges you to a dual never fails to happen to me. Kingdom or empire, in the early stages of the game the event happens. He is actually quite tough at lv5 and wins fairly often with hilarious results. Twice hes beaten me and roamed the world, destroying towns in a drunken rampage. But seriously, Ive run into him every game without fail. Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

Seconded
And woods and rivers still act as essence repulsion objects, where you'll NEVER get a good city with essence and access to woods and river tiles
I have on rare occasion seen essence by a river or forest tile. It is ridiculously rare though. It seems that any tile by a river or forest has a max yield of 7 instead of 9.

It's not difficult to build forts that can pump out any troop in one turn and give them huge bonuses (Ive done it with Altair and Magnar). Almost any lv3 fort can do it. Labor costs are irrelevant to anyone with a decent fort, even the mediocre one take only 2 turns. A 10% inc

Very nice analysis, makes me want to write one. Probably wait for 0.52 though. I like to create mounted chainmail paladin units with 3 traits and artifacts and steamroll the world. I only ever run out of crystal and can build them in a single turn. Thanks Cant wait to test it out. Your points 4 and 6 are very important Daynarr A good fort doesn't actually need more than 1 essence, for growth or material bonus. Spell stat boosts are good but just being able to pump out high end troops is enough.

Why? 3) Deadly quest with demon Kainen in his tower broken. When he dies you get like 20exp and its just over, no message or rewards. 4) Blessed hammer is offered as a reward f

Its OK, late game champions are terrible anyway. But ya seems like a lot of autosave problems are being noticed. I like the one where autosaves undo AI's attack phase.
