[quote who="Eiralin" reply="294" id="2786410"] Quoting Ahroo, reply 293The sad thing about it all is both games had a pretty bad start. But everyone is going to praise Civ V for being amazing while continuing to trash this game. When they both suffer from the same exact problems. CAVEAT: I've only put about an hour of "fiddling around" time into Civ 5, so I have yet to see some of the more potentially braindead combat AI and diplomacy issues, so I'll address neither in comparison to

[quote who="FadedC" reply="287" id="2784689"] Quoting GaelicVigil, reply 279Well I've heard that the AI and diplomacy is actually far worse in Civ 5 than Elemental. I've also heard that the late game is a mess. Civ 5 does appear to have a bad combat AI. But it's not anywhere close to being bad at the level of elemental AI. The diplomacy system on the other hand is not innately bad, it's more of an information/interface issue. Again it's definitely better then elemental b
I don't see a problem with it.. plenty of counters to use against them. If only the AI was smart enough.
I'm really shocked how not many people care about something this interesting. The defualt heroes were kinda bland. Mostly being ugly peasents or farmers. And a rare powerhouse like Rilis. I dunno if people tried your character set yet, but I was wondering if you knew you had their images set to: "C:\Users\James\Documents\My Games\Elemental\units\icons\Greg_0_-670364115-25.png" Which has your name in the filepath, wouldn't that not work for everyone else? Maybe

Yeah incsest isn't much of a problem. But having kids go to a faction that no longer exists, essentially putting them to waste and bugging the game, is a major concern.

Yeah a tweak on the name generator would be nice. World, city, children names look like a garbled mess of letters. But somewhere down the line I'd rather just have the original factions have premade citynames. And have the names custom made to fit in with their lore. It'd give each race a bit of depth and make them more believable. When I go out to conquer another faction I haven't the slightest clue what their capital is since every city they plop down has a randomly generated
Has anyone run into a bug that does exactly this during battles? A battle will start, and I click the ground where I want my unit to move. And he instantly goes there in a blink of an eye. If I'm fast enough I can move everyone else before the bug stops. But after clicking end turn it stops and goes back to the normal snail pace. So it seems to me that the code is there in the game to make it happen, it's just that they're trying REALLY hard to force things to move slower.

But we all know that the problem you named isn't a art style problem but just an item design one. I'm pretty sure they can fit in more intimidatin
After beating the AI into submissive pulps, I let a couple of them live to play around and explore everything the game had to offer me. Noticed a few bugs while I was goofing off waiting for my family tree to expand. And playing around with spells I never learned before like flood and volcano . I'll put in some screenshots when I get around to hosting them. <span style="color: #99999
If it's still bugged you should've just declined the last fight, when you surrender the guy gives you Praiden's Sword. 50 attack and 10 speed for one hand. Reeeally nice.
Documents/My Games/Elemental/Units Go into your soverigns file with notepad++ and change stats at will. Only works in a new game obviously.

If this game had Sid Meier's name on the box then I would be sending it back for a refund. The only reason I'm sticking with it is because I like Stardock and I think they will eventually fix the gameplay to a reasonable standard (whether they will turn it into the classic that it could be is another question).

Lol at game balance being an 8. I love this game, I defend it on multiple forums, but come on now. What a joke. Infact the whole review's a joke, what is it with people putting meaningless numbers for things? That doesn't tell me anything. A 7 to me is different to a 7 to someone else. Some people think of it as an average, others think of it as good while 5 is average. What's the point? As far as I know 8 is two points away from perfection and the game balance is FAR from that.
All that's pretty nice, but I think armor shouldn't reduce attack power or intelligence. Intellitgence is useless to troops, and your soverign should be decked out in the most powerful stuff without being penalized to the one thing that makes him stand out. I'd make the heavy armor's just reduce speed. And make the leather shirt, chainmail, etc, all the "lighter" versions of those armors not change a thing. Or maybe even increase speed. That way you have a purpose to actually equip them. Othe

Something tells me this won't get fixed for a looong while sigh. I don't mind the bugs, or the incompletness of the game but it crashing 150-200+ turns into the game just makes it unplayable and impossible to enjoy.
I get a better fps but now I get hit by an "out of memory" around turn 150. I'm calling BS that this game requires 1.7gigs of ram. Most people are capped at 2.
Yeah I noticed it too. It's ridiculous. Everyone wants me to declare war on the Altar in my current game. But they aren't at war with them themselves. Hell they haven't even MET them yet according to the faction screen. Everytime I'm asking an AI to go to war with someone I have to offer 300-1000+ of value to them, but they can just freebie ask me. I learned to cheese the system in my favor though. Everytime I'm about to declare war on someone, I talk to a different faction and get them to pa

Yeah boots seem to be bugged or non-existant for some reason. I swear I saw the option for them when designing a unit. But instead it's just leg armor ending at the ankles where they wear some black shoe instead. Looks weird and unfinished. And the enchanted leggings has a graphic on the icon that should be a boot covering the shoe but the actual look it ends on the ankle like everything else.
