The DISK version of the game has absolutely no DRM and no copy protection. There's no disk check, no serial entering on installation, no nothing. You can make an image of the disk, load it up with Daemon Tools or any other virtual-drive software, install from it, and play without needing any crack, internet auth, or anything of the like.
And you forgot to mention things like this:

So spare us the hater bullshit that Stardock is somehow getting cut a break.
Oh really? I played MoO3 retail version, w/out any patches, and it worked. And MoO3 has muuuuuch more content and gameplay depth than Elemental. Maybe, someday, if Brad does not back out of supporting it

They rarely offer something genuinely new, especially a new option. Is this correct ? - I have no problems accepting that lairs are accessible only after certain tech is researched. It's about ancient lore, right ? It requires studies ? Lairs might require knowing a secret e

Bad mechanics can never be fixed by any amount of fluff. It's a simple fact of game design, and railing against the facts (even as verbosely and eloquently as you have) isn't going to accomplish anything.
I dont find this mechanic bad. Christ, I love this forum.
Maybe you missed the point, but it doesn't 'warn' you, it locks you out, refusing to start up. You cannot run modified exe anymore. And that totally qualifies as DRM.

I know that the author of that patch did it for the best, and I greatly appreciate Stardock allowing him to make it public on their forum, now they tell us that they would change the impulse check to take in consideration this homemade .exe (a thing that no company in the world will EVER do!) and there is still people complaining???

I dunno, I actually like techs. It needs more variety (I can never have enough techs in my 4X), but otherwise its actually one of few parts of the game which DO work. Adventure techs seem unnatural at first, but putting realism aside, I like this "get more goodies, but more nasties too" thing.
So far, Elemental is more Civilization with magic than MoM itself!
Its quite funny to hear, when MoM itself was dubbed as 'Civilization with magic'. Whole city system is a complete ripoff of Civ1, and even some sprites look VERY similiar. Just MoM brought MUCH more magic into civ world than Elemental does.

Am I the only one who feels sad not seeing any significant Magic improvements listed? Having minimal damage will make it a bit more useful, but thats not proper solution. As long as you keep doing rolls vs DEF, it will suck. And no Global Enchantments or any Magic Diversity either.

Same goes for the tutorial, I hate games that require you play through it by making it the first level. Just click buttons and see what happens, that is half the fun of playing with something new! In any case this game seems to play like every other strategy game out there, I had th
I just see this game as basically "GalCiv 2" with new JPGs.
Man, these are all 3D models, not some sprites. And textures and art are in PNG. So I'm not sure where did you see the jpegs. As for AI, its same as everywhere. "True" AI is impossible with modern hardware. Exhaustive heuristics too - it still takes a super-computer to calculate all possible outcomes in the chess, and games like Elemental have much wider and deeper tree.</p

Actually, what we need is ability to marry summons. Or have hero-like, permanent summons, which can be married. Its totally natural for Empire Sovereign to make a pact with some dark demon to empower his bloodline and have half-demon offsprings. THAT would be awesome.

Was thinking the very same thing. I'm not sure that we can hack proper resurrection with simple xml changes tho.

Yeah, its definitely one of 'must have' features for proper magic. There is no need to have bunch of different same-element damaging spells for example, you just should be able to adjust the power of spell upon casting.
was just 150 turns old, my best army was 170
You are doing something very wrong here. My last game I'm currently playing is at turn 180. I have over 1500 rating for main stack. Okay, maybe you dont like building armies. But even single 3x sword wielding unit will give you more than what you got. Heck, its easy to get 300-350 rating with just stacked peasants by turn 40.

On a side-note, I loved MoO3. It had a few bugs and a bit rough release, but gameplay-wise, its better than original MoO. I think its one of the best space 4X, dunno why everyone hates it.
