PocusFr, are you sure you actually build the 'perk'? When you choose garden from the level up menu, you do not receive a garden. You receive the right to build a garden in that city. In any case, the cities are getting a rework in Beta 4, so we can wait and see what the developers come up with.

I play on different difficulty levels depending on what strategy I'm using, i.e. how I expect to win the game. If I'm using a custom sovereign and going for a conquest/quest victory, I play Insane (ever since I learned it existed) If I want to design and deploy troops, I play on Ridiculous (and lose 50% of the time if I play with a "No champions in enemy dominion" rule) If I want to experience the full range of the game - diplomacy, alliances, economic tug of w

Higher cost, the fact that you're not wearing a shield, and the fact that you're not dealing as heavy damage as you would with a 2-handed weapon (effectively, poor against heavy armor, good against light armor like you want later on in your post). Oh, if you do not add the second weapon's damage to the main weapon damage, then it's much better balanced indeed.

First, accuracy to simulate the extra hit chance. Then dodge to parry. Realism is not always a good guideline for improving gameplay, but in this particular case, both realism and balance are compromised. If dual wield gives a better chance to hit and a better chance not to be hit, it has no disadvantages whatsoever, so it's not that great from a balance perspective. From a realism point of view, dual wielding is only effective at a very specific point in mi

In my experience, different difficulty levels provide different levels of fun depending what kind of game you are playing. If you are playing for a Conquest or Master Quest with super-champions, the highest level (Insane, right now) is the most fun. If you want to enjoy designing and controlling your troops, Ridiculous is best, because at Insane your troops feel like wimps, due to high AI hps. If you want to enjoy the diplomacy, the haggling, if you want to complete fo

At this point (turn 89) a conquest victory is trivial. Boris is level 30, Hannis is level 29, and Urko is level 19. None of the AIs has more than three cities, which means that I can take any of them out in one turn. All three of the major champions can use Cloud Walk if necessary. The problem is that it's getting kind of boring. Gilden is probably casting the Spell of Making, but they only finished the Forge on turn 88, so it will be a long time before the

1. Absolutely not. There already is information attached to the cursor - information about the unit/building underneath it. If you display both, it gets messy. And of course, there are already too many games out there in which you cannot get information about the terrain unless the tile is empty. The way FE does it right now is perfect. 2. Not quite true. There's the tower of dominion, the cleric, the town hall, the palace, the gallows, the jail, the bathhouse, t

I would really, really like to hear that no one at Stardock will waste one minute on MP until single player is done. Already, there's no force in the universe that could convince me that there aren't at least a few bugs in Fallen Enchantress that are due to MP having been designed in. Things like autosaves loading like shit, the player not quite being able to move before everyone finishes moving, monsters jumping multiple tiles to attack a group that has been kicke

The champion wants negative money because you have constructed buildings that further reduce the price of heroes. Destroy them. The Tireless March stacking is iffy. Go to Govern->Ledger->Enchantments, and dispel enough enchantments to make the problem go away. By the way, yes, these are both bugs. All I'm giving are suggestions to rescue your game.

Address to the Confederacy (Spring of 177) Citizens of the Confederacy! Once again, we are at peace, with no enemy directly threatening us. But in the Northeast, the Kraxis Empire was been growing more powerful as it has been absorbing the Kingdom of Altar. Our scouts tell us that Altar will not last longer than a few years. It may be a long time the Confederacy c

Reply to Essence in FE Sneak Peeks

I wonder whether it has something to do with the strength of a city's influence. The control radius, the rate at which the nearby lands become fertile, the strength of the borders... Come on guys. Lets feed the troll, i.e. lets speculate on essence.

In my book, if I have to cloud walk for 80 mana or pay an extra 30 mana to nail someone with a Tremor, I've screwed up. Of course, I do screw up plenty, but I tend to value an ability for what it can do when I'm doing things the right way, as opposed to how it can pull my ass out of the fire I've lit. That said, in my .913 AAR I Cloud Walked twice before turn 100, and in my .915, I rushed for Cloud Walk before I started fighting far from home. I still think tha

Cave bears are dangerous, but lets not overhype them. I my 0.915 AAR , I have Boris soloing cave bears with 111hps (Insane difficulty) as early as level 5 and turn 23 . Haste and regeneration allow him to usually come out of the fight at full health, except when he kills the bear with a counterattack. He also had evade and stone skin at that point, which

The path tomes from enchanter are nice, but they're not its main strength. The arcane monolith is what makes it shine in my book. The ability to clear the enemy's outposts and place your own on the same turn. The ability to stick a monolith on top of fertile land, and tell neutral pioneers to take a hike. The ability to stick a monolith on a choke point, and deny passage.

It's clear that the Magelords strategy can be summed up in one (short) word: Boris. I have been trying to hint at his level up choices, but I think I should spell them out here: At level 20, Boris has: Potential I,II,III (Taken every time they were available, because assassins benefit from high levels) Strength &

Address to the Confederacy (Summer of 174) Citizens of the Confederacy! For the first time in years, our nation faces no direct threats. The neighboring Kingdoms may hate us, but they do not seem inclined to declare war on us yet. Whether they are wary of our champions, or whether they fear the backstabbing greed of their own neighbors does no

Hey, that's why we're playing the Beta, right? Fire up that 0.915, and try to see whether no-Fast-Pace makes a difference. I'm still going to finish Boris's game. The problem is that I thoroughly enjoy playing for about 10 turns, but then I have to stop and write some fluff, and go through all the screenshots for something to post.

I am not playing with Fast Pace, actually. The AIs have x4 growth and x4 research, so it looks as if they are on Fast Pace. My research is standard, I am still researching Education, and have nothing in warfare/magic except for horse riding. If I win Boris's game, which I believe is possible, I will try a game with master scouts, betrayers and natural leader, and try NOT to attack first. I will try to expand with free heroes and pioneers, make buddies with everyo
