@Yarlen - I am so happy!!!! I installed the VC redistributables from the ashes subfolder and then ran setup of directx and it works!!!! I have a feeling as more people buy Ashes you will probably get this issue more often unless the installation deals with this possibility.

OK update, I got all excited when I saw there had been an update via steam. However, excitement was short lived - no change. I decided to pay more attention to the error I was seeing when I ran ashes_dx11 directly which is 0xc00007b which appears to be a mismatch between 64bit and 32bit software. I followed all the suggestions ht
@Yarlen UID-579-56261 Brad A has been working with me on it. All the scans etc have been handed in. No rush, I understand it is a new product, I am just keen to get to see Ashes running.
No, so far I have been asked to send in logs of the software but no updates or suggestions that have made any difference. If I double click the ashes_dx11.exe I get an immediate access violation - i.e., no pause which suggest resources cannot be found or something simple like that. If I run direct from steam by pressing the "play" button I see the blue windows circle for a split second and then nothing. As if I haven't pressed anything.
Yes, no joy so far. I am waiting for support people to get back to work after the weekend. ;)
I have contacted support. It looks like my "accounts" are a bit of a mess.
cheers i will do
The original Bard Tales were awesome, back in the late 80s :) The new Bards Tale will be party based, but I got the impression that it won't be isometric, but POV with your party members around you - however, I could be wrong. The best place to find out more is simply to follow the link above to their kickstarter page.
In my opinion there are just two games. The first three and then Sorcerer King The first three in my mind just all run together in a blur. No major significant differences, they all look the same, the game play is fundamentally the same. Just small difference that in the long term just blended together in my recollection. Having said that I have played over 700 hours with the first three. Brad will undoubtably have very different ideas but I believe&nb
I won't put in a blurb, you know if you like party based RPGs. If are then you will be interested in finding out more https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/the-bards-tale-iv
RTM = release to manufacturing I was under the impression that it was available for the public from that date. I am hoping it is going to be worth it. I believe MS knows they can botch yet another release of windows - 8 and 8.1 were pretty horrid experiences for many people. The bits "missing" from Windows 10 don't really amount to m
Quite a few games provide the "been there done that" feeling. It is annoying when you get the latest and greatest and then your excitement quickly disappears. Civ 5 comes to mind and beyond earth.
@Trojasmic odd, I have the opposite feeling. I enjoy SK much more than LH. I also expect SK to become even better before release. But we digress. 90 hours is along time to play a game and then say you don't like it.
I agree - it looks better than i would have expected based on the last few installments
The lts are a bit of a push over later in the game. They need more henchmen to soak up some of your attacks. At the moment I can take out the Lts by simply concentrating on them for a couple of round of combat. I love the idea of the world getting gloomier as the doom counter goes up. It could be that the ground ruptures in places and smoked and ash spew out, the trees could start looking sickly etc I also like the idea that when the last Lt is re
SK is my favourite of the elemental series. According to Steam I have put in 171 hour on Fallen Enchantress and 49 into SK. Working out what I paid divided by time spent - very good value for money games - brilliant highly recommend SK and FE
I agree SK is currently my favourite of the long line of Elemental based games. However, the end game is a bit of a slog to say the least. usualy when I am ready to take on the lieutenants they are no match for my army. To be honest they have never proven to be a hurdle in a the 10+ games I have played, apart from the fact that I have had to hunt them down. It is boring trying to find them. I love the final battle with the SK, but I have never been in a situation
@ a0152570 that explains a lot My soldiers rolling out of one buffed city (extra hp, defense etc) seem to have same stats as those rolling out of a stock standard city.
HI Cbray - Thanks for the input I will follow up your suggestions and see how I get on
One of the minor civs quests required going to a cobra shaped location. When I got there I was told this was a notable location and that my level was 1 and I need 4. To reaise notablelocation score I needed to research adventuring. Or words to this effect. I get the feeling is a bug in the quest and the notable locations is a left over from Elemental. I can send in a saved game if it helps/
re-loading doesn't change anything - I don't think it is a bug per-see I believe that logistics calculations and contributions have been altered between the two beta 5 versions.
I have spent a great deal of time today playing a wonderful game of SK. Magician, normal difficulty level on pre-defined medium map. However, it has now ground to halt. At one point I had three cities one main army and bunch of units defending my cities. Logistics was in the plus, I was running out of build options. The enemy attacked and defeated one of my cities. I lost about 8 units and my logistics plummeted to -7.
wow seems a big update for opt in only
@starkers all good Back to beer... Back when I was living in Amsterdam, I was in a bar one night, This Aussie bloke came up to the bar and asked the barman, "do you have beer?" The barman poured him a beer into a standard Dutch glass, probably 200ml. The Aussie bloke looked at the glass kinda weirdly, sculled it back and said"yep, that 'll do, give me one of those.", obviousl
