It makes me wonder if Kael and Jon Shafer maybe just can't see doing anything with EWOM and want to start from scratch. It also seems a bit early to be talking about heading up a new team for a completely new project/game when there still seems so much to be done to EWOM. I just don't really buy the whole, "we don't need expansion packs in this day and age" story. Who is going to keep an older, more inferior game installed when an updated, far superior version comes along and
As we're still looking in to things, can someone try to Reset the Impulse data. Here is how you do it: - Delete the UpdateSizes registry key for Elemental as described earlier in this thread - Go in to Preferences - On the General tab, click the 'Reset Data' button. - Impulse will go through a simulated self update - Let Impulse calculate the download size of the Elemental update.
Hello, I've been having this problem with the updates too. I originally bought the game as a digital download. I couldn't delete the first entry, but I deleted the 2nd entry and tried to update the game again but it's still trying to download 1.9GB instead of just the patch. Sorry about the size of this image! **Ed
I wish Brad would have broken the news first...everyone's kinda stolen his wind. I say it's great news and good luck to Jon! I can only imagine he will do amazing things for Elemental! .....kinda off topic, but....Wow! He's hot!
Big ditto....Happy new year to the Stardock team and fellow gamesplayers! Looking forward very much to reading the news!
The problem you're having is probably that Impulse wants to patch to 1.1 now, whereas you installed 1.09 from the archive. The patch is pretty big (like, really big).
I don't think 47MB is really big...unless you've got a really slow Internet connection I guess. The update bug can be bypassed, so it's really just an inconvenience and I think I'd rather have SD keep working on the game than devoting any time to fixing this.
Well done SD! I went back to 1.09e too and the file size to update to 1.1 is 47.55MB....nice!
Maybe make it a series of posts that slowly adds more info (if this was your plan all along we all look silly )and eventually it could be used as a template for a new PDF manual..
I was wondering if it was going to be one of those "to be continued" posts as well because a "walkthru" is usually a guide that shows a full campaign or summary of a complete game. This just seems to be a walkthru of getting to turn 1 or 2. It's af
This must be the longest changelog ever!! Great work you guys! [e digicons][/e]
I've been wanting to make more videos, but purposely waiting until 1.1 is released; as I see it, 1.1 will end up being as close to what 1.0 should have been and it'd be nice to see that represented via an online vid.
That'll be great...I'll look forward to seeing it!
Thanks Mhantra...glad it's not just me! I think like you said it hasn't clicked with me yet because I'm not sure how everything ties together. I've got some free time today so I'm gonna play some more...maybe start with the campaign again and see if I get the click! [e digicons][/e]
I wish someone would make a video playthrough of a game. I asked a while ago https://forums.elementalgame.com/401498 but no takers. I just seem to get to a point where I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing or what I'm supposed to do next. Like there are always options to build multiples of different types of buildings, huts, inns, workshops etc and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to keep building them until I run out of
This must be the most aggressive beta test ever...it's superb! Stardock rocks! [e digicons][/e]
Same here, I bought the game at the end of October via digital download. Updates were fine up to 1.09n, but when 1.09o came out the patch file size was 1.89GB, so I had to revert to 1.09e and then get the patch, and all the latest patches, by following the same path as described by others above. It's not really that much of a hassle, but it would be nice to be able to just update each patch on top of the old patch.
Is this a major crash?....I didn't even realise 1.09s had been released yet! Is there something fundamentally wrong with the patch?
The frequency of patches for this beta is amazing! Great work you guys!! [e digicons][/e]
Hello all, There are very few Elemental vids on Youtube and the ones that are there are very old. I was wondering if someone who knows the game really well and is good with making Youtube vids could do a tutorial with 1.09p as it appears to be pretty stable. I know most people will probably say wait until 1.1 is released, but even a vid with the basic gameplay with the latest changes would be really helpful to not just me, but I'm sure a lot of others new to the game too.
Good news about the stability! Downloading the update now, so hearing that people are playing without crashes is very exciting!
I'm kinda glad we had that level 3 crash problem now because we're getting another large patch within 24 hours! You guys are awesome! [e digicons][/e]
You're right...forgot that step...I'll edit my post in case this happens to others.
Yes, same here. Game crashes when you try to train after the city hits level 3. Real pity....was looking forward to playing it today!
I just installed 1.09o and tried to train a peasant in my first city and it was OK....no crash. Haven't got to a 2nd city yet.
Yes, same here...just went to download it, but the file size is 1.97GB. I currently have 1.09n Tried shutting down Impulse and restarting, but no difference. **Edit** Mine's OK now. Turn off "show pre-release" Shift + right click and then verify An 11MB update will take you back to 1.09e Turn on "show pre-release" The 1.09o update is then 16MB
Trying to play a saved game when they've made so many changes is just ridiculous!
Its not released yet, it will probably be fairly late. Maybe past midnight tonight EST.
In this digital age you have fans all around the world! I live in Shanghai and if I've worked out the time difference correctly then the patch should be out around lunchtime, which is perfect for me because I've got the day off today! (Dec 3rd...13 hours ahead) Just wanted to say the work you guys are all doing for the game and for the community
