Aiming for the stars is what killed Elemental in the first place. You have to build a solid game first. Look at Broodwar vs Starcraft, Frozen Throne vs W3, Any Civ4 mod you enjoyed vs the retail games. These games were great because they expanded upon great bases. Elemental upon release was in contention for the worst pc game i've ever owned. That is saying something. I fully support Stardock and hope Fallen Enchantress is worth the investment I made in its development. <

I've been making a few negative posts lately so I wanted to discuss one of the things I find to be the best part of Elemental. Random events keep the game flavorful and interesting. I want to start a discussion on the balance of the current events and ideas to get new events. Unfortunately there are some events that are just too good and some that aren't good enough. Best Events: 1. You start next to "bones of a creature". You receive a weapon that is not the dag

I agree with this 100 percent. I'll continue to voice my displeasure until the game is on an AAA level of quality for the 50 dollar price point I payed(and preordered). I could care less about 2 free expansions. In todays world/economy that means nothing. APB exploded in a matter or days, one could argue the game had twice the level of polish as Elemental just terrible gameplay(read: not an mmo). The sad fact is we'll all be lucky to see 2 free expansions. I would have
I'm still extremely disappointed with the timetable of releases. That said it seems like things are on the right track. I hope one of the devs understands the in game economy. I'm glad creatures now drop decent loot again it was impossible to have fun without city spamming for economy during 1.08.
Miracle Patch 1.1 will it be out this month as previously stated? Might as well temper expectations now if its not going to make September.
Comparing CIV5 to Elemental is an insult against CIV. "...ain't the same ballpark, ain't the same league, ain't even the same fuckin' sport..." 'nuff said.
I hate to agree with this sentiment. Civ5 is light years ahead of Elemental even with its flaws. I have not experienced slowdown or crashes on Civ 5. On the other hand I have experienced many crashes in Elemental. I know that the AI is terrible and multiplayer as I
Any of you bashing the OP are drinking the kool aid in excess. He has every right to expect whats on the box to be in the game. The developers are perfectly capable of defending themselves usually with more well though out responses. However, this issue really can not be defended. The game is completely incapable of recreating what you see in that screen shot. There should have been a decision maker with some foresight to say lets use screen shots that actually represent
I bought Aion on it. They took my order and didn't deliver the game. The customer service said they were out of game keys. They should have never accepted my order if they had no keys. They had no timetable for keys. I was able to cancel finally. I'm never using that service again. Money grab first provide content later. Kind of like day 1 multiplayer.
I recently lost an air shard to the dreaded fire shrill population. I guess they really wanted that non food resource. However unlike when other improvements get destroyed it was just gone. Where? Do the shrills eat these things? Don't you think they prefer FIRE shards? Am I missing the roleplay connection here. Bug or Feature?
Food isn't the only thing they nerfed. Metal is almost nonexistent in 1.08. It is very difficult to produce interesting units without metal; it was hard before because the game lacks anything resembling true fantasy units, but now you can't even have knights. Anyone know where the show hex option is?
Is anyone else dissatisfied with the one leader fits all and civ specific bonus system? I don't like having the leader forced on me. I want Abe Lincoln not Washington for example. I also want real empires not laughable 100 years of existence civs. Also the Civ bonuses seem horribly balanced. Ottoman empire bonus to capturing barb ships is terribad. In my limited experience navy is not an early game thing. Cities can defend themselves at range so there is little need to tech naval unle
I hate the game post 1.08. The only thing I enjoy is the weapon balance changes. I liked "dangerous creatures" while playing on a hard/ridiculous world difficulty. I liked creature economy, it could of been nerfed but not COMPLETELY MARGINALIZED. Why have dungeon master in the game at all anymore creatures are so few and far between now. In a post apocalyptic low fantasy world the richest entities in game should be strong monsters with the ability to protect wealth and resources.
1 unit per hex and limited horses/iron/uranium makes the game 10x more strategic. Ranged units and siege units are actually more practical now. It seems like workers are worth their weight in gold now. Improvements take a long time unless you grab the policies that help that aspect. Happiness as a global thing is strange. Unit movement isnt that organic on the map they all have to "get in formation" before each attack which is rather slow. I miss the complexity
Day 1 multiplayer sure is nice. Promised box features are also nice. Although like Elemental this is probably the base for a great game. Civ IV was always better once BTS made diplomacy and espionage more important. Using Steamworks is certainly a letdown.

I quite enjoy the early game exploration and expansion with early era (i.e. crappy) units. Whether you rush to take 2-3 AIs out early is up to you, I only do it if they declare war on me or I've totally run out of places to expand to peacefully. If the AI is aggressive and declares war on me, I don't feel guilty at all about pu
I use to take organize a lot, but recently haven't (felt that it was just too cheesy since the AI is hopeless with it), so that change haven't done anything for me (I play on a custom ridiculous difficulty without map hack for the AI).
How do you do this custom difficulty?
Never took organized. Never needed it. I play large maps with 9 ridiculous AI opponents. You can adapt to the slower movement speeds. Yes, it does sometimes mean some early game skirmishes with peasants and observers, plus some good summons to make sure you win the battles. AIs that are too close to you and declare war early is actually an opportunity to go take their main city, solving your resource shortage problem. The best defense is a good offen
Resources seem to be a little too scare in 1.08. I just played a game with 3 resources in my starting city. I started a second city near 2 more resources. First resource tech produced one mine. The next 3 techs gave me absolutely nothing. This compounded the problem that I was surrounded by marginal territory to every direction and expanding past two cities would of spread me too thin without organized. I feel like the game must be approached differently without organized in the game.
I also had my first crash today since the prerelease. It was on 1.08b(friday update?) and did not produce data either.
