It is the nature of the internet and is the reason many, I daresay nearly all, the big name developers out there do not interact directly with their game's community. I'm afraid that the sad truth here. The more developers share with the community, the more the community feels entitled and expects their opinion to matter. In

If you buy a new car from a dealer and it has no engine you would be upset too. Some people care more about video games, than they do about cars, so to them buying a video game that isn`t all there is pretty much the same thing. I can understand that I guess...... I agree with you that many of the people`s attitudes on the forums is.... "un-productive". It doesn`t really help the situation. I used to think that it was just a simple disagreement, getting out o

I was answering his question how anyone could possibly enjoy elemental in it's current state, not defending the state of elemental at launch. If you want to evaluate the elemental's state, by all means nitpick. But if you want to enjoy playing it even now, focus on what works, not on what doesn't.
See? You need to focus on what is there, get absorbed by the game, not constantly nitpick on stuff that does not work. No..... actually let him nitpick. If there is a demand for great video games, companies will be forced to supply th
If the long run is predetermined, then it makes very little difference how I play this particular turn But that is only because you assume the AI won't be a challenge. Don't assume that. Just play the game to enjoy it. Maybe the AI is toothless, but that won't become an issue until much later. Eventually the point in game will come where you for all practical purposes already won it, but that point will come no matter ho
1) I disagree with you slightly about City building... It doesn't really take more planning. 2) The rule of thumb that 'bigger is better' applies nicely, but that's hardly a tacticians fantasy. 3) The 9 different resources are very flawed... one of them (prestige) doesn't seem to affect ANYTHING other than that initial marriage proposal making it
I'm not trying to say anyone's opinion is invalid, I simply can't seem to get anyone to clearly articulate one. The best I seem to get is 'it just is fun'. Ok, I guess that work for some people.
I totatly agree with you on that. I think what they are trying to say is that it has its fun "points"...... that is a better way to articulate it. In no way do I find the whole game
Stop eating, sell your car, sell your organs, etc. Seriously though, it can be hard. Aside from doing something that is "illegal"....... downloading the games for free from torrent sites..... there are very few options.
In another post, Frogboy said that the role of minor factions is to guard the resource near them.
They don't seem to do a good job of it.... I usually can capture thier cities easily early in the game.
I read some of the responses..... Just FYI, this post was sort of meant as a joke before people get too serious about the issue ;-) Feel free to post anything you like though, but keep in mind I was just kidding. Everyone knows the only Evil Genius in the world is me ;-)
The game has no copy protection but you need the a purchased copy to update it. If you don't update it, you probably can't play it..... Sadly.... this is probably the most effective copy protection system out there. Although honestly I think this is "accidental" maybe not.... maybe stardock is staffed by evil "geniuses"!
Maybe I was spoiled by the great games of the past, like Alpha Centauri. But then again: why stray from a winning formula? Technologies should be interconnected, like in other 4x games. Then I need specific technologies to make heroes appear (!), to make castles and dragons appear (!) and so on.
Alpha Cenaturi had a blind research option which was similiar to this..... only difference w
There's a limit on the number of "units" in an army, which is something like 10. A squad should count as 1 unit. A couple of squads shouldn't be a problem to form an army, but if you have a bunch of individual guys too you might be out of space.
So there is a limite. It could be that too.... but if you have not reached your limit..... try my solution. :-S
perhaps I reached a units/army limit? all I know is, I moved them into the same square as my army. but when I moved the sovereign, they did not come along. Did I miss a 'merge' button somewhere? Because I never needed one before. I did get a new stacks tab, though, showing two stacks - one of my army, and one of my 4-man stack.
I am not aware of any army limit.&
Do you mean that you are having trouble getting stacked units to join your army? (Stacking the army, not stacking a unit) If that's the case my guess would be that its the UI glitch. Its kind of annoying.... but units in the same tile don't always belong to the same army and you can accidently remove the unit from the army by clicking on the individual units too. If that isn't the problem, my guess its some sort of bug. I have had no
So this a a pretty remote bug that I stumbled upon, but a bug nevertheless.... Details: Game Version: 1.06 Mods: Fishery 1.2 and Abilities, Traits, and History Mod 0.45 (so I`m not 100% its not the mods that are causing it). Wondering if anyone has experianced this without any mods.... I had a platoon of veteran Drath in an army with a dragon, and my soverign. They got into a scrap with Trolls I think..... the trolls did one point of dam
No one is saying that feature is bad (I think). We all love it... the problem is that the unit design has little impact on game mechanics and people would like to see it have more of an impact on how the game is played.&n
So, in response to 2), you mean like getting Uruk-Hai as an upgrade to orcs sort of deal? Because that sounds excellent to me. Picking allies in general sounds excellent as well, and there would be the potential for non-combat bonuses in addition to "better units" and "moar flavor". Riding Spiders, anyone?
Exactly!
Listen, this is a turn based strategy game. You're lucky that there's tactical battles at all. Most TBS just calculates a die roll, you see an animation and that's the battle. The last thing Elemental needs is to have tactical battles turn into some over complex 'Final Fantasy Tactics' thing. Please Stardock, do not over-complicate tactical battles. They should really be for eye candy anyway,
Yes the tactical combat definatly needs to be more tactical.
I like your ideas for initiative. 1. Initiative Check - Order in which units are activated, affected by presence of adjacent hero or lord. 2. Command Control Check- If this check fails the unit disobeys orders and automatically moves to attack nearest enemy unit. 3. Movement Orders Check - If this check fails the unit does not move this turn
Love the game concept. Love that you can design units, and all the customization options. Love the way technology is handled. Love that Stardock will continue to support this game far into the future! XD
I think that dumping the Diplomacy tree is a little extreme. My suggestions.... Right now the minor races are either too weak to matter, or too powerful. You don't have much choice as far as minor race units are concerned either. Lastly you are limited to an empire/kingom branch of minor races. 1) Remove the kingdom/empire branch (since minor race settlements spawn randomly) Instead make it an either-or choice. For example darkling h
They might not put any depth into this game, but hopefully someone will make a mod that increases the depth. I totataly agree with this. Also because this is all it takes to defeat the enemy it makes many researches, equipment, and units useless. My army only consists of two types of units. Ranged, and damage dealers. Everything else serves no purpose as far as I can tell. If they were to add a paper-rock-scissors element or even special
Nice. That seems to be the best way to beat the AI. I usually make a faction with the Master Archer trait. Then research only economy and military until I can support a few squads of archers (no armor needed so they can produce faster). The AI has no ranged units early in the game so thier troops usually die before they can attack. Its not as good as the magic strategy, but it works.
