i've recently started dabbling in iPhone/iPad development... the SDK is very impressive ... i've had an iPhone for quite some time (and iTouch as well), but have yet to experience an iPad... will change soon, when my development efforts start to shape up... ;)

ill second the requests for a detailed quest overview... im an avid writer (at least, I play one on TV), and would love to create my own quests/storylines...
Chances are, they're just artifacts from earlier in the design process. I can't tell you how often I look at something I'm coding halfway through a design cycle and think, "Was I high when I wrote that?"
nothing contructive to add, just my appreciation for this quote... i too cant count how many times ive had to reuse legacy code, and wonder what in the world i was thinking when i initially wrote my code... ;)
thanks brad... perhaps something that shows controlling the spawn rates of monsters, and or their ability to walk within my areas of influence (if thats capable in the current build)...
fantastic update... indeed a busy friday! definitely interested to dive into the mod area...
excellent concept guys... cant wait to see your work Murteas!
excellent work! [e digicons]k1[/e] but i have to ask... in the first in-game shot of the skeleton, is it the perspective of the image, or are his feet proportionately that much smaller? keep it up! :)
absolutely agree here... as has been mentioned before, the same sound effects are applied to all creatures... with such a spectacular soundtrack, we need some equally impressive sound effects... or at least a litle variety... :)
Can I trade between my own cities? I have excess metal and materials.
your resources are global, so there is no need to "trade" those between cities...
wow, so simple, but so very useful... thanks! [e digicons]k1[/e]
excellent work mate! /me is excited about the possibilities
We are going to be opening up a web based mod area in the next week or so.
wow, completely missed this post... Istari, can you elaborate on what the "web based mod area" will provide? is it similar (in functionality) as was proposed by the OP?
another PHP/MySQL developer throwing his hat into the ring, should my skills be needed... more than happy to give something back to the community! :)
fantastic work Gnilbert... wish i were home to test it out for myself! :)
The Internet used to be green and black TEXT, none of this fancy-schmancy streaming media. No Instant anything. We had to upload at 150 bits per second in the video snow every day. Both ways!
ok, just spewed my orange juice... thanks for the laugh! :)
^^agreed... and in a read only state, the journals become just that - journals; collecting the developers thoughts, and sharing ideas and insights with the community...
silly question, but why not just have the dev journals be read only? i thoroughly enjoy reading what the team is up to, even if i dont agree on every point... and who possibly could?
i agree that something should be done with regards to monster spawns... while i completely "get" the idea that as the nations influence expands, it causes the remaining badlands to shrink, causing an increase in the monster population - i think the current approach needs to be re-examined... at a minimum, dont allow spawned creatures to roam into my civililized areas... sure, if i step outside my border, im free game... but allow me to protect my influence... perhaps something that ca
Um. Awesome. You. Rock.
could not agree more... [e digicons]k1[/e]
no rest for the weary brad... i have employed the "rush" tactic a few times, and thought there might be something the AI could do to counter this approach... have an AI path that focuses on a few tech trees exclusively... amass units and city defenses, and sit safely in their fiefdom... basically, the "introverts"... obviously the ideal scenario is to have adaptive AI, but my mind is far too simple to go down that path... ;)
i must be an absolute gaming simpleton... i love this game... aside from the late game freeze (corrected in .07 for me), and 2 CTDs, i have had zero problems with the game... i've felt challenged by the AI (more often than not), found the learning curve to be negligible (hello, Settlers 7 anyone?), and the overall package (UI, atmosphere, graphics, pacing) to be wholly enjoyable... is the title perfect? not by any stretc
I think you should rather make a "let's not play and wait for (at least) patch 1.1". With the current bugs (like shards not working) it doesn't make much sense to play it now.
couldnt be further from the truth mate... and this is coming from an old, jaded gamer, who hasnt donned rose-tinted glasses for any developer in quite some time... ;) EWoM is an absolute blast... then again, thats just one man's opinion...
nice idea! thanks!! /me claps loudly
welcome back mate... i've been having an absolutely blast with your labor of love, and i am now a full fledged "Stardock convert"... whatever shortcomings the title may have (and we've all experienced our own struggles here), the fact that the team can be as transparent and open about current and future efforts makes my decision to stick with you guys all the more sound... thanks for the recap, and have a great weekend yourself... :)
agreed... but i've alrady used it twice at work since installing... [e digicons]:w00t:[/e]
