I ordered the Limited Edition back during Elemental's release and I did not pay any duty for it. I live in British Columbia. According to the Canada Borders Services Agency website: "if someone mails you an item worth CAN$20 or less , you don’t have to pay duty or taxes on the item. If the item is worth more than CAN$20 , you must pay the applicable duty, the GST or HST, and any PST on the item’s full value." &nb

I just got my LE in the mail today. No duty charges, thank goodness. It's strange that some Canadians had to pay while others didn't. The condition of the box is perfect, with no damage that I can see. So, before I retire from this thread I thought I'd list my dates to help other Canadians who haven't got their copy and are trying to decide what to do. Ordered LE online from Impulse: Aug 15 Game launch: Aug 24 Orde
29,5 + TAXES for some customs crap
Are you saying you had to pay $30 + taxes extra?!? For crying out loud that's insane. If I have to pay that much extra when it does decide to show up (still waiting), I'll just refuse the box. No way a metallic dragon and soundtrack cd is worth another 30 + taxes. I have the digital download at least, even if I paid $100 for it. I'll consider it a lesson learned.

Sales told me they shipped it on Aug 30th, but still nothing here (Kelowna BC). Monday ends the 1-3 week waiting period for international orders, but since it looks like copies are rolling in for other Canadians I guess I'll give it another week before I complain again. What really worries me is Snarl saying he had to pay duty on top of it. Did everybody else have to pay duty? So much for free trade... bah With $14 duty on top of US and credit card exchange f

Oh, I did download the game on day 1, and I've played it quite a bit (shelved until 1.1 though). That's not the issue. When I pay shipping for something I expect it to arrive within a reasonable amount of time. If Stardock hadn't included the download option I'd be complaining very loudly after just a week, but because they did it's not that big a deal... yet. As the days pass by it's beginning to turn into an annoyance. It would have been faster (and cheaper) ju

I decided to contact sales as kyro said. I have no idea if it could be "lost in transit" as I don't know how long USPS delivery should take, but I really doubt it should take this long. I suggest for everybody else to stop waiting and contact sales as well. I hope in the future Stardock moves to a delivery system with tracking. How much extra would it cost?

I watched the Civ 5 dev preview last night and wow it looks amazing... but I have to agree with econundrum1. While watching the video I got the feeling of "been there, done that". I played Civ 1 and 4 to death, and to a lesser extent 2 & 3. 20 years of playing Civ and I can honestly say I've played enough Civ for this lifetime. On that note, I probably still will pick up Civ 5 sometime in the future, as 4X games are so rare. I don't understand the one or th

Agreed. I assumed that the $20 shipping fee was for a delivery service like UPS or FedEx, as from past experiences that price range would indicate that it would have been. I guess it serves me right for making assumptions.

Any updates from the Canadians as to their LE orders? From reading the other threads it seems like it's hit or miss all around the world. I don't plan to contact sales until the majority of Canadians here say they received their copies, as it's not that big a deal for me. Still, I'm very surprised as to how long it's taking. I've ordered things from China with free shipping and they've arrived faster, so I don't think we can blame customs anymore.&nbsp

I would rather have a few mega cities to control than a lot of little outposts covering the map. How can you have a fantasy world for our adventurers to explore if the world has been deforested and covered with human settlements? I was hoping Elemental would force the players and AI to leave some areas uncolonized just for this very reason. Areas of the map where massive monsters armies would spawn and a place for our heroes to constantly visit for quests. I suppose th
