This is definitely not something that was there and i simply missed, not only is the background bothering me, but the art work has become substantially more cartoony, i am guessing the patches didn't patch right... but something has changed. And really, it isn't that i don't like it, this is a physical reaction with me. i am not trying to be funny or insensitive here when i say this, think pokemon and siezures. Some moving backgrounds don't affect me, probab

I don't recall them moving, at the very least, they never moved like this. I preordered and have been playing since release, and it has never bothered me until now. I quit for awhile, waiting for 1.1, installed that, still didn't bother me. unfortunately i had to reinstall the game, since installing the menus have definitely changed, and have become very aggrevating. i assumed it was a result of a hot patch, maybe not then..? The only thing i did differently when reinstalling, is

i would greatly appreciate an option to disable the moving backgrounds that seem to have shown up in the latest version. Having this shifting, uncontrallable motion behind options screens i am trying to navigate makes me nausious and quickly gives me a splitting headache, along with just generally aggrevating me, and does so in record time. I really don't care what i see, even a plain old black background is fine, but this moving stuff has got to go.

So because some people steal it, those who don't should be forced to endure annoying software that obviously doesn't protect against anything(since it is being stolen) and only serves to annoy legitimate users. I like my computer clean. free of third party garbage and clutter. i am impatient, and while on a good internet connection, i understand many aren't, and i like to keep my patches for games on my harddrive or other local media so that should i uninstall and later rein

the term "royalty" has been used to describe deposed rulers even where the country no longer really exists or atleast, isn't a monarchy anymore. while it implies direct relations to a king, once that tree wraps around itself a couple times and you start talking succession, it tends to be forgotton. in other words, while webster might disagree, we could be dealing with a third cousin, twice removed, of some nation wiped out by the cataclysm, hence still royalty fur

Tasunke just said something that got me thinking in the "My sad tale; a nood's first game..." thread, he said, "I'd prefer marrying my royalty off to Peasant Girls and Farmers ..." and a thought popped into my mind. one i havent heard mentioned yet, but may have overlooked(this sites search function is terrible). that is who would take you seriously? from a Role playing standpoint, marriages are arranged to further the power and influence of a giv

Phylast, from reading your post, it sounds like you might not be aware of this, forgive me if i am misreading. under game options, on the far right is tactical battle threshold, i believe it defaults to four, and casuses certain battles to autoresolve automaticly denying you the ability to fight them out, based on the number of participants involved i believe. lower it to 0 and it effectively disables it. The real problem in autoresolve is going to be spells, especially if they start

i don't have the game available at the moment, but doesn't the eject button (and vacate) send them someplace randomly? you really want to select them and give them a destination, like cpl_rk describes. click the city, see the little circle portraits on the right hand side, select them using ctrl(shift works too i think) then right click outside the city in the direction you intend to send them. but i would steer clear of eject, as it can add massive amounts of travel time depending on w

seems like everything in ffh2, atleast before i quit playing, scaled with map size. the armeggedon counter for example, with any luck, now that kael is here, that will get looked at. as it is most of my games are over before i even get married and i play on large(ofcourse i am picky about who i marry, or else just don't care to because i know it won't come into play). but also bare in mind some of this should hopefully be addressed with AI and mechanic changes that are coming, making the

cpl_rk, you are being unneccessarily hostile. you are using broad generalizations that don't help. Mogag_AoW is not a developer, i'd bet money on it, and responding to him on a forum for a single specific game and claiming universally that all 'developers' are arrogant, whatever, its safe to assume the developers of this game are going to take it personally and assume its directed at them, more over it doesn't make for a friendly enviorment for discussion. yeah he baited you, yo

To cpl_rk, For the record, magog_AoW, if he is a game developer, isn't one on this game or he'd have the stardock tag. infact with the exception of about what, 2 comments by frog_boy, this thread has been free of anyone with anything to do with this game, i'd wager most people in this conversation aren't even programmers, much less game developers. so don't let it get you too riled up. Regardless of the source of the problems with this game, hardware compatabilities or

seems to me though that teleportaion is something of a (relatively) new addition to the fantasy genre, i could be wrong, but wheel of time isn't that old, and lord of the rings had no teleportation, as i recall even the silmarillion(which i know i spelled wrong) the gods were turning into clouds and things to travel quicker, and any fantasy computer game definitely doesn't qualify as old in my book. memory fades, and i'll be the first to admit i haven't read even a fraction of what is

[quote who="Gwenio1" reply="62" id="2807719"] Quoting James009D, reply 60 I think this is a huge part of the 'problem', we've also got more hardware and software that can conflict then before. However, technology, 'best practices', and knowledge have also progressed at, I assume, a reasonable pace to counter all that. Not really. There are some things that make it easier, but some times they have pit falls

You guys are kinda missing the reality. The industry is somewhat standardized, its called everyone is microsofts bit**. yeah new improvements roll out pretty quick, but if they don't work with microsoft & directx, noone will see those improvements, because noone is going to write their own api to utilize them, especially not to take advantage of an improvement of one specific piece of equipment that may or may not be present Nvidia, ATI, when they come up with some new idea,

[quote who="Sakhari" reply="33" id="2806833"] New PC games don't work, they just don't. 9 out of 10 new games don't work at launch. What exactly is the definition of 'work' in this thread? Of the 96 games that I own on the PC, I can count, on two fingers, the number of those that outright didn't work out of the box and both of those issues were fixed inside of two weeks. I suppose, if we count

blaiming the hardware anymore is a bit of a load. back in the day when you had no standards for graphics and were writing everything in assembly to squeeze out every last bit of juice, when you had no plug and play and no api's, and were tweaking your config.sys and autoexec.bat just to play a game, that was a hardware situation. sure some graphics cards occassionally fail to implement every aspect of direct x properly, creating some problems, but this is rather rare, and on th

when doing the dragon quest, as well as the rat quest, and virtually any quest, make absolutely certain that the unit which starts the quest is the leader of the group for each and every piece of the quest, if anyone else does even a part of it, or takes over command, it is probably going to fail, even if you trade whatever returnable item you recieve, the rat corpse, the dragon egg, whatever, back to the person who originated the quest and let them complete it. infact its probably a good ide

i knew you were going to ask that, and could have saved a post. sorry about that. but no, niether has pubs, theatres, or i forget what else you can build for prestige. I haven't even researched those yet. both had 2 prestige until just a few turns back when i nabbed a champion with royalty, raising both to 3. and like i said, level 3 is minimum 100, so at the very least the refugee city, barring recruitment, should have 100 citizens, right? also befo

i have absolutely no troops, just champions and summons. the only thing i recruit at these cities is pioneers, which cost only 1 person and take 8 turns to train, and the 1 caravan i am allowed, which is 1 for 3 turns., so definitely recovered by then. and regardless of how it works, i never train more than one at a time. so it definitely isn't a recruiting issue, (don't think you can queue up 100 pioneers, but even if you could, thats 1000 materials... dang. while my sovereign does h

i'm afraid i'm going to be of little help. i have done the quest several times since patching and it has worked fine for me. it has always behaved the same for me too, (by that i mean no changes from the patches), just to be clear, the champion which enters the inn, spawning the quest, should have a party member added to their team, this results in the champions movement being slowed to a painful 1 tile. are you atleast seeing the slow down? its possible to get the kid kille

the 1.09 latest as of friday i believe. two cities, one with 2 huts, one with a refugee camp, both at one time were near the same population, like +-10 people. a whole bunch of turns later, one is at 150, the other, with the refugee camp, is at 52. i have no idea when the population tanked, much less what happened right before it tanked. one possibility is it got reset when the city leveled up, being they are both level 3 and the level two requires 100. another thoug

i don't know if this is what is effecting you, but something that has happened more frequently now for me, is that after an end turn, the unit hightlighted as selected, centered on, is not the one that is actually selected, so all the options are wrong,if i have any, if i move one unit, its a guess as to which one actually moves. etc. sometime it shows a unit selected but is actually selecting a city.. ugh. trying to select the unit doesn't do anything, since it sorta is already sel

i haven't tried it in 1.09, but in 1.08b niether of the two researchers nor the gilder champion benefited from being stationed in town. there was no increase in the towns money/research, nor did i see an increase in either gilder or research equal to the bonus the unit would have got(if it just wasn't showing in the town but still being applied). i didn't see it it in the change log, so it shouldn't have changed 1.09
