It's amazing how we always have to look back to MoM to identify "the right way to do it". Well, not surprisingly, I agree. It was just perfect.

Makes sense. And while we're at it, Precision might be dumped for Attack.

1. Performance (including load times). If I can't play the mid/late game, it's all for nothing. Might as well NOT release the game. 2. AI - As it was "foretold" months ago, it's still the weakest part of the game. Again, all is pointless if this is the AI we're going to face. 3. City building and terrain usage . Too much streamlined, almost ineffective choices and specialization. The
Personally I feel, the variety of spells is still lacking. We need more global spells. More "meta-magic" type spells that interact with each other (see MoM for ideas). I really miss researching spells in MOM, so you agonized over whether to research web or cracks call, now you just get them all once you level up and upgrade to Fire archmage.
I agree. Some of the "magic" of "Magic" is lost in this. And m

Since I'm about to sound maybe a little too critic, let me state first and foremost that I've found my first game fun and engrossing (the MUCH improved flavour and "cuteness" holding the biggest part of merit). That said, I feel that the developers have been too stubborn over some concepts, almost to the point of defying reason. That killed EWoM for me even before the blandness had time to become an issue. <span style="text-decorati

Well, thought I'd add a few quick comments after all. Still not too deep yet, more to do with ease of use and "presentation": Saving and loading should require less clicks. A LOT less. Loading times also are a pain (but I fear this cannot be helped). A "melee only autoresolve" button is painfully needed for tactical battles. Spell placement in the spellbook could use some ordering. Make it by Element, by Power, by Type (tactical or strategic). Some

I've played non-stop for hours. The game is fun. At times it ALMOST felt like playing MoM (almost!). Kinda liked the deja-vu feeling! Needless to say, this is VERY promising. However, there are issues, of course. For the moment I'll avoid commenting on content, balance and so on as I'm still not familiar enough with the game. It's too early, really: we all need to play a few games to understand what works in the long run and what doesn't. So I'll j
OVERALL I am just loving the way features usually thought of a role playing are rethought out to be in a strategy game. They didn't try to make FE a strategy/RPG. They made it a strategy game and rethought how features in RPG could be done in a strategy game.
VERY encouraging statement. I need to find the time to play the Beta...
Quoting mastroego, reply 31 What are you talking about, she was incarcerated as she was FOUND GUILTY on the FIRST trial. The second trial overruled the first one so she was freed. Italy is perfectly civil in this regard, actually TOO MUCH, if you ask me. Exactly my point. She was railroaded in the first trial and spent 4 years in prison before the truth came out. 4 years doesn't sound very civil to me. [

Tons of games out there to play multiplayer. Fun is less "game-dependent", since, as everyone points out, the main factor is the presence of another "true" intelligence on the other side. Conversely, there are few (and getting fewer and fewer) great single player games, and it's a lot more difficult to make them consistently interesting. So thanks to Stardock for focusing on that first.

Are you kidding? The man is a joke. He lied and lied and lied and lied with no shame and no intelligence even, 'cause things could not be hidden. What was the point of claiming their issues were just an "electronic glitch"? It's not that the hole in the ship was not going to be seen eventually, sinking or not sinking. What was the point of claiming to the cameras that he was

Got mine too. Gotta say, I almost feel a little guilty, as I've been very vocal about the failure of Elemental and skeptic about the promises made to us. I have to say, this e-mail alone carries more professionalism than we could reasonably expect to witness from a software company. Sure, it's been a long wait and it'll be longer still for a finished game, but I rank myself among the converted now. :) I wish I had time to actually help with

The game is starting to seriously look fantastic. Seems Stardock CAN redeem itself after all, and turn the whole thing around. Don't lose momentum now (I mean, with the "it's not enough, let's improve it!" attitude). I'm definitely not skeptic now as I've been before and I'm rooting for the word to spread.

The ONLY thing you really have to avoid is people mistaking it for a simple expansion (even if stand-alone). As long as it's clear that we're talking about a NEW game, people will be ready to jugde it on its own merit. Everyone knows that each Civ is a different game from the previous one, most DA lovers hated DA2, most moo2 lovers hated moo3... there can be continuity, or not. Each new game must be tried, tested, played, and reviewed. Gamers under

The guy deserves everything he got, and not because I'm in a "champion of the weak customers" mood. First, he totally acted like an arrogant, plainly unpleasant person. Just basic politeness is expected when you talk to a stranger who's addressing you politely . Especially so if you have wronged him in some way, like in this case. And especially more so if you work in that field. I'm Italian and yet I think I can easily manage a better E

I agree, it's looking GOOD. It's starting to seem as it could set a new standard for the genre. I still have doubts about a couple of things (like "technologies" for recruiting heroes), but I must admit that the overall impression is excellent. A minor suggestion: justified text! If I need workers, I need to go out, find them, and offer proper terms for them to agree to work for me. I don't need to get a degree on how to do it, or ask scholars and specialists "how do I get the more awesome heroes? If you don't know yet please go back to your studies and let me know as soon as you do" (at least not until bureaucracy takes over). It normally is a very natural process. If you have little to offer, only desperate peop

Overall the game looks amazing, but it seems at least one glaring flaw has carried over from EWoM after all: technologies that make little sense. It doesn't really help the immersion factor that you have to learn a technology to recruit champions. Also it's wrong, because only players that focus on that technology tree can get them. It should instead be based on the perception that a hero has of the player: if he'

I live in the Italian countryside and my connection, though "permanent" in theory, totally goes black-out now and then, and the disservice can last up to a few hours. This is frustrating as it is (you feel "powerless" when you can't even check your mail or a wiki page, or the weather forecast): it'd be insanely worse if I couldn't play a game I bought exactly to kill time when I'm home with time to kill, possibly with a faulty connection. Even if the rate of fault

Around the time I pre-ordered Elemental I was also checking out GalCiv II. I ended up not buying it as EWoM was a major let down and I thought: "must be more of the same". Well, to be fair people speak generally well of GalCiv II, but I'm personally not a fan of linear techtrees (Laser I -> Laser II etc. etc.), or the kind of humor that seems to be predominant in the game. Still, if the second game is already very good by general consensus, I imagine even a pa
