haha! This made me smile.

Meh people shouldn't expect things to be a masterpiece. Its a great thing to strive for, but being idealistic will make anything seem dull.
Its been solid for a while now, what are you waiting for? Fire it up!
Also, Plat/Diamond macro is definitely a lot different than gold. But its like The_Biz said, macro in SC2 requires micro. You're definitely right about unit control becoming more important as you increase in skill level but its not just about control. Building, production and tech timings plus overall strategy are important in SC2. Its just that it all happens really fast which makes it micro intensive.
Starcraft is the perfect blend of action and strategy. You need the twitch of an FPS player(probably more) and the brains of TBS to get really good. I have respect for anyone who approaches SC2 with a competitive drive, even gold league isn't easy to accomplish. I drift in and out of diamond these days, I used to look at the higher leagues like something of mythic proportion, but its just like riding a bike, once you got it you got it. No shame in the lower leagues. After all,
I cannot play star craft, get my ass handed to me every time. The simple reason is inadequate difficulty level or broken difficulty level, because obviously i need proper easy difficulty level to learn the game and then improve. Never had a game slam the door in my face like that....
Broken difficulty level? Single player SC2 is easy. Multiplayer is where the door gets slammed. Even the best players in the world know
Anyone who complains about lack of communication and/or support from Stardock is delusional. Sitting at your computer desk playing video games and reading forums does not entitle you to a perfect world.
You have to plan ahead, build, anticipate your opponents moves, and counter them. Meanwhile come up with a plan of attack of your own, and execute it. Just like huge games of Chess.
This is an accurate description of Starcraft.
With the exceptions of games like Starcraft. Where whoever can rush with the most units first wins
But it soon became obvious, that these games were all about speed. People only played the highest speed-setting and henceforth it was not about who comes up with the best strategy but who was fast enough to actually execute them on the highest speed-setting. When two even armies collide it was all about who could form a good arc right before that happened and who can constantly use all unit-special-abilities at the right time on the r
I'm hoping for a Boat/seacreature patch with full fledge sea tactical combat abilities.
This was the first thing that came to mind for me. Even if its much further down the line or part of a sequel. A flying trait for creatures/units would also be amazing.
Quoting joasoze, reply 3Yeah, that was really in-depth.... I could have written a long wall of text explaining why the magic system is stupid, but I simply do not care anymore. I got excited when War of Magic was unveiled and bought the pre-order. The game was so bad and bland I hardly even played it. Then Stardock apologised and swore they will learn from their mistakes, so I got excited once again (much less so, as you can imagin
CTRL+N makes sense. In a game with random map generation there's always a chance you will come up with a practically unwinnable starting point especially on higher difficulty levels. I like sticking with tough starts for the adventure and challenge of it, but if my goal was to win the game on the highest difficulty settings I wouldn't think twice about using it to my advantage.
Any decent quad core will do. Your GPU is more important even for games you wouldn't expect. You could save a bunch of money getting a slightly older AMD CPU. I'd build a desktop if I were you. Get a nice budget build figured out for now and you can upgrade and work on it over time. Eventually you'll have your dream machine ;)
Oh great, encourage more people to piss and moan like the world owes them a favor. There's enough of this on the internet, I think constructive criticism is best route.
Indeed. I have a Fry's Electronics near my house and their PC games section is one half-stocked aisle that's also got boxed fragrances on the shelves in it. I'm not going to patronize those guys with PC sales if I can help it.
Exactly. Boycott Steam and go buy all your games at WalMart, Target and Best Buy. Thats really making a statement. [e digicons][/e] Say what you want about
Yeah definitely pick up Fallen Enchantress. Now is a great time to get into this game, BETA 4!
So many great games listed here but there's one that I think only one other person mentioned... ULTIMA ONLINE. The MMO before MMO's. Absolute classic. My brother still plays it on private servers and I would give anything for a new sequel.
They know most people are too lazy to go out and purchase they're software. They expect the 'I want know' attitude and set it such that you sell your soul to do so. They're next a-kin to EA. Collapsing all the small yet good game developers and putting out crap from then on. Sad.
If Steam offered an English class would you take it?
CIV IV is the best game ever made. CIV V I didnt even buy. A real letdown (I read for hours upon hours in the forum about CIV V, before deciding). I have played all versions of CIV but CIV V. All hail Sid!
Its too bad you let bitter and entitled forum posters sway your decision. Civ V wasn't great at launch but it sure is now. People will complain about anything on the internet.
Great post, I did this the day I installed 7 myself. I don't like the default Win7 taskbar and hate my desktop cluttered with shortcuts.
I've always loved Civ V! Launch was kinda rocky but its gotten so much better patch after patch and now its playing great. Its a different beast from Civ IV which I still think I like a bit better, but with everything that's coming in the expansion they're just getting started. People forget that Civ IV vanilla is puppy love compared to BTS.
I just don't understand how the city building part of the game is supposed to be fun. It wasn't fun in WoM, and hasn't changed significantly in FE. The other parts of FE I like, or believe they will be fixed. Combat has a good basis, it just needs to be tweaked to make it more engaging, a bit more visceral. Magic seems about right, just needs a lot of balancing. The world is quite good, just needs more content and balancing.
A hell of a year its been. I help organize a Barcraft in my town and its been awesome to meet local players and chill with people who speak my language. We're going to get a group together for MLG Raleigh this summer, should be a blast. I'm a huge fan of GSL and MLG and love every minute of everything SC2! Incredible game and incredible community. Cant wait till everything gets turned on its head with the release of HOTS and everyone goes back to the drawing board.
If you find DLC to be overpriced or a ripoff in anyway don't buy it. This little movement you're trying to start seems to be more about begging for free stuff than it does fighting for anyones rights.
Been watching MLG a bunch tonight, wishing Idra would lose more... :P
