It is very confusing. Spell Points are what's used to turn an "Available" spell into a "Known" spell, and you have to have all the Spell Points required for a spell at the one time. Spells are learned by opening the Sovereign's Spells tab and then click on the first icon to open the spellbook. Mana is what you use to cast spells that are "Known", and you find your total and current Mana by selecting your Sovereign without any other units selected. Casting a spell is by

Well, if it's absolutely definitely 110% certain that the advanced trade system would not be in the released game, the question is: Will the modding system be comprehensive enough that such an advanced trade system would be able to be modded in? I personally don't like the idea that if you can sneak a Pioneer and a few troops to a space 1/2 the way across the map, the food ever after gets transported magically between all the towns for no risk and no caravans or roads required

[quote who="BlackRainZ" reply="69" id="2671469"]I don't think the system would be so bad if there was just a little more choice and strategy involved, but it may be that if they were to limit the amount of food you can find, thereby limiting the houses you can build, we would probably start to see much more serious choices in what we put in our cities because of limited space. Psychoak, I don't think it has to work like that at all and I don't think it would

I agree. [e digicons][/e] People want this game to succeed, I don't think people who have paid to get into the beta would mind doing some bug squashing. :-) Best regards, Steven.

I was getting frequent crashes, even when playing a built-in Kingdom Sovereign. About 1 (or 2) out of 3 save loading attempts actually work, the rest result in the game going into "Not Responding" mode and having to be killed off manually through Win 7 Task Manager. The game is just too unstable at the moment. Best regards, Steven.

I agree. Also I think it would be great if when you had a unit's screen open (including inventory) all the animations on the map stop, so that the game is not trying to animate movement on the overland map at the same time you are moving stuff on the inventory screen. I think this may be a partial reason for some crashes (although I can't really play any more at the moment, 0.805 crashes so regularly, especially for very long-running, big maps). Best regards, Steven.<

Well, the crash report file is a zip. So even though it contains other files a bit like a folder, it is considered by the system to be a file. So all you need to do is copy the crash report zip file to your Public DropBox folder and post the link, then the zip file, with the .dmp and the debug.err, can be opened and both files can be pulled out. I know, it's weird how Win 7 calls a zip file: "Compressed (zipped) Folder (.zip)" however it is still a file in basic terms. &nb

Kul-Al-Kulan, but since he was called a hybrid, I gave him the Kingdom allegience and the faction that accepts all kinds of beings, regardless of their creed, just for fun. =) Anyway, when I was viewing the Dynasty screen, it crashed to desktop again too: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8710134/Elemental0_805-2010-07-04T10-18-00-268.zip Best regards, Steven.

In this particular saved game, and any after it, moving the Sovereign (the Hybrid Sovereign with a Kingdom allegiance) out of the town he's in always results in a crash within a few seconds. It doesn't seem to matter what the graphics settings are either. Here are the initial save (AutoSave) and the save saved after loading the AutoSave (Test), and the crashes with some different graphics settings. Out of about 20 tries, all of them have crashed when trying to move the mai

Sorry guys, I got a bit negative there and I changed my mind about the reply.

I agree with Outlaw's post and the ideas from the OP. With being able to put Pioneers wherever and having the land "beautification" ;-) happen almost entirely without any effort, you'd almost wonder where there really had been a cataclysm a century ago. That's my (and others) main problem with it - there's not enough "connection" with the act of restoring completely barren land (I like that idea about the trenches being hard-won), it's too easy (like a production line) and it does

I've got a few crashes like this too, which I may have included already in this post with 14 crash dumps. But certainly, sometimes you get a crash when finishing research of technologies or after choosing a new technology. Best regards, Steven.

I agree, DropBox rocks. [e digicons][/e] You start with 2GB (or 2000 MB whatever ) and you can get 250 MB more just be doing a few relatively easy things. [e digicons][/e] Best regards, Steven. PS: Another feature I've found, with this forum this time. is - if you hold Shift while pressing Enter, you can get to the next line without it putting a space between the lines. Mild genius, in a quirky sort of way. ;-)

Well, you could always use a Google account to upload your files to Google Docs and then share the link to the file... =) Btw: I bet out of all the people who have installed DropBox there would be a certain amount who were techies who would have scrutinized the program and made sure it didn't send any information it shouldn't, and who would have spoken out if it was doing naughty things, code-wise. ;-) I don't think you have much to worry about, but to upload a file to share i

And don't forget their are the modmods of Fall from Heaven II, and the modmodmods etc. ;-) One modmod of Fall Further (Fall Further was one of the first modmods of base FFH2) which is becoming better and better currently is RiFE (Rise from Erebus) . Even though Elemental is going to be fantastic, RiFE is doing a lot of cool things with the Civ4 engine and are adding more cool, and quite balanced feat

Sounds like a good idea. FFH2 allows free spells if you have more than one of the same type of mana node, so in the context of Elemental, I think ideas like the above could work well. =) Best regards, Steven.

I had this issue early on. Since I know that occassionally this sort of issue can happen with Firefox (will not run because part of it is still stuck in memory) I knew what to try to fix it, and it worked. But still, this is a large bug and needs to be fixed quickly, especially if it's one of the earliest bugs that can happen in a Beta 3 game. Best regards, Steven.

I can confirm this. Even when you have an Old Growth Forest near to your city, mousing over it says "Research Construction to harvest" even when you already have, and the Lumber Mill does not appear in the valid build choices list at all. So this appears to be a bug. Best regards, Steven. PS: Where are the screenshots and saved games for Elemental put?

I agree with: 1a. archers being able to get a starting hit from an adjacent square that would be mitigated by any armor the opponent had; 1b. starting hits from any archer/s would result in tactical combat automatically being joined between their square and the square they just attacked; and 2. archers being a lot less likely to be attacked early in automatic combat resolve. I like vollies, but only as a once off shot that takes into account armor *and* which a
