I think Steam is the only piece of software (apart from viruses, or is Steam a kind of virus?) that actively tries to install itself onto as many PCs as possible, even for single player games. Sometimes, freedom of choice and not having to run a program all the time when another program is running. has to come before "gee beaut Steam is so cool, they bring so many cool features and are so cheap!". A good example of groupthink is that people were saying about "how cheap all the S

Yes. Having a particular tech (and/or other characteristics of a side) precludes you from unlocking another specific tech. Best regards, Steven.
It hasn't seemed to in my games. [e digicons]|-)[/e] Best regards, Steven.
Once Stardock starts sending out those archival DVDs it should help those with slower, less reliable connections. Best regards, Steven.
I like Elemental's graphics. I think that part of the reason HOMM2 is still played is because the distinctive, stylized graphics don't age nearly as quickly as the "realistic" style of HOMM3's graphics. Best regards, Steven.
I think currently, you can only set the chance of a tech appearing to be 1-100%. It would be fantastic to have the ability to set certain criteria (for example *and* statements, *or* statements, and *not* statements) for requirements for unlocking certain techs, if this is not in already. And you could make it so that if you have a particular tech (and/or other characteristics of your side), you cannot unlock another specific tech or tech branch. This would provide the abilit
No single player should be allowed to research all magic spells, all weapon types, all armor types and all building types otherwise the strong players will never have any weaknesses. Every three completed research paths/spells should close one research path/spell thus a player may have a weakness with fire magic or cutting weapons or enchantments and so on. If the strong players dominate the researching with
What do players and people at Stardock think of this idea? Best regards, Steven.
What about the suggestions talked about in this thread, especially the one where base generation is dependent on city level? Best regards, Steven.
Well Trolls are in, so I don't see why Goblins, Elves and Dwarves can't be in too. Best regards, Steven.
I agree wholeheartedly. Best regards, Steven.
That's one of the reasons why the HOMM maps feel so "alive" because there are various sounds played when on or near certain map locations, or on certain terrains. It's amazing how a few well-placed sound effects can really turn a "game world" into a "vibrant fantasy world". And I especially like the "feel" of the HOMM2 gameworld, and how the stylish graphics, sound effects and music really add to it. The same could really help Elemental too. [e digicons]|-)[/e] Best
Didn't Stardock have a falling out with Demigod's developers? Best regards, Steven.
You have some good ideas here. [e digicons][/e] Best regards, Steven.
And this would give you a good incentive to level up your heir somewhat and put some points to Charisma. Best regards, Steven.
FrogboyDoodyHead? :P Best regards, Steven.
And maybe Charisma could come into play here - the more Charisma your heir has the less likely these things are to happen. Best regards, Steven.
Add me to the people who agree with Sovereigns dying of old age. Best regards, Steven.
Currently, when you get one of the very last Diplomacy techs when you are a Kingdom side, you get the ability to recruit Young Dragons (at 10 Gildar Upkeep per turn ;-)). But you would probably only get up to that tech in the very late game. Best regards, Steven.
sagittary, you make a lot of good points in your Reply #63. [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]k1[/e] Fatbil, I think properly balanced random events could add a lot to the game. [e digicons]k1[/e] Best regards, Steven.
Yes, I like the idea of a base amount based on the city level. Because it requires effort to build up a city (ie. lots of houses and prestige buildings) having 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 base production for studies, arcane studies, workshops, merchants etc. would make a big difference, especially as +% bonuses (and more +% bonuses) would make bigger, fewer cities viable *and* competitive. Stardock, what do you think? Best regards, Steven.
May I make a few suggestions: 1. For the human player, and the AI player, to be totally forbidden from buying NPCs or anything else which would immediately put them into debt; 2. For a warning to be given to the human player if they are close to crossing from Positive Gildar to Negative Gildar by Upkeep or Maintenance Costs, so that they can immediately cut down on their spending and avoid Negative Gildar; 3. For the AI player to actively avoid gettin
And those in between fight the "good" fight (metaphorically speaking ;-)). Yes Raven, I know that's not poetry, but I also know that the extremes aren't the whole story. "And all their glory" (metaphorically speaking :P). Best regards, Steven.
Yes, you don't play those games unless you are up for a real challenge, *and* you are in a reasonably good mood (not a good game for playing all day). I'll probably play Elemental more as it develops, maybe even some MP co-op games. [e digicons]^_^[/e] Best regards, Steven.
Quoting StevenAus, reply 27Even though a game like Wesnoth is a bit different (because it is scenario and tactical combat oriented) it really adds to the experience to play through an entire scenario (especially on the Hardest difficulty) while not taking taking any *unbearable - restart scenario* losses, and making more crucial level ups than you lose afterwards. It is really traumatic when you get most of the way through a level and th
