I've encountered a lot of behavior in Elemental that strikes me as just plain odd. One of my biggest gripes is that the game in general just feels unresponsive to my mouse clicks. I'm not sure how else to explain the feeling of frustration I get when I click on an action and nothing happens until I click it again. Anyway, I've picked a couple of these issues that I hadn't seen mentioned yet: 1. Edge scroll delay should be off by default. It took
Kardiophylax
I had this same thing occur as well. I was unable to talk to an adventurer nearby, which I still don't understand, but after multiple times trying to click on their square over multiple turns, my sovereign finally just moved over and killed the NPC in one shot. The game then proceeded to tell me about my evil deed. So uhhh.. what gives?
I agree completely. It doesn't make any sense to use edge scrolling on the map and then have to do this odd click and pull scrolling in combat.
A few suggestions based on my playtime in Beta 3 1. It would be very handy to have a button located on the bottom menu that allows me to tell a unit to continue moving to the destination I have set for it. It appears that the end turn button will cause all units to continue to their destinations, but I would like to be able to click on each unit and individually tell them to continue. The method I've found to do this now is to right click again each turn on
When cast, Arcane Armor correctly adjusts the unit's defense by 2 and takes up an enchantment slot. Trying to cast the spell again causes a box to appear on screen that correctly informs you that spell is already in effect on that unit and can't be cast again. Arcane Weaponry, however, can be cast repeatedly on the same unit (the sovereign, in my case), increasing attack by 2 each time. This spell does not appear to take up an enchantment slot like Arcane Armor does.
I hope to get a lot of time in this weekend with the beta. I've been too busy to really dig into Beta 2 as much as I'd like, only hopping in for a few play sessions here and there, but... Beta 3 sounds amazing. I am really looking forward to checking this one out.
Just to clarify, more advanced modding functionality such as creating quests, scripts, managing variables, defining factions, etc., will be done using Python, correct? I'm fairly certain that is the case, but the first sentence of this entry seems to contradict that. [quote quoting="post"] While Element comes packed with its own lore, players and modders can create their own fantasy universe using either the game options (while setting up a normal game) as well as
Thanks for making me feel even better about my decision to pre-order with this video. I haven't been this excited about a 4x game since Master of Magic.
It is a breath of fresh air to see a few companies are still producing excellent quality PC specific titles. I've been playing games since the Commodore and Amiga days and the landscape has changed tremendously. There are still a few companies producing excellent games with incredible modding tools though, and Stardock is certainly one of the best. I have voted with my wallet and truly believe this game will be the only one I need to scratch my turn-based strategy game itch
