I agree with you completely Raidin. Win with the least resources. However, losing units, or having to wait turns for units to heal is also an economic loss. These need to be factored into the equation too. And in my mind these two facts is what generally makes buffs actually good to cast (in certain situations). I don't know if I mentioned it above, but I rarely cast spells until I can enchant heroes with Mantle of the oceans. That enchantment completely

Buffing is highly situational. First off you need to determine whether you can wipe out the enemy before they get tot strike. If not, you need to determine whether the buff will shorten the time it takes to obliterate the opposition (including the turn to cast the buff). Also you need to determine if there is an enemy unit (usually a hero) that REALLY needs to be killed fast, if so, do you have the capability to do it (like shadow shift it into the middle of your army, or us
Yeah hit turn a few times to double check.
I thought I might jot down what I do to make my stick really pointy at different times. Maybe it will help Brad sharpen the AI's cudgel, maybe it won't. Overall, I think the AI is really good fun to play against. I'll beat it, but that's because I can still outthink it :) When there's tons of mana around: I try and get a mage in every stack. ALL my mages pick the exact same levels to start off: Knowledge, Spell master 1, 2, 3,
When you gain a death shard, the growth increase from Morrigan's call does not update. EG. you have 1 death shard. YOu cast Morri Call on a city. It gains +1 Growth. You then get a 2nd Death shard. The city with the existing enchantment does not change it's growth rate. You remove the enchantment, then recast Morri Call on the city. It gains +2 Growth.
Just make a custom dead faction, and add in the Resoln ability that allows them to cast Corruption (turn a shard in your control to a Death shard). Then always choose locations that can have at least 1 enchantment. By late game you will have better growth in all your cities than a non-dead faction. This would suck badly if it's a low magic map...... The other thing to notice about the dead team is, they pay NO wages. Which means, always always go to war
Will the AI ever be modified to use the outpost improvements? I always feel like I am cheating when I use them because I have never seen the AI upgrade them.
I generally find that the AI has more upgrades on their outposts than me..... Sweetness patch by the sound of it :)
Adding my weight to the first list of awesomeness :) The game is a great base of fun, adding more content like this would make each game more varied :)
Alrighty, been playing a game as Capitar. Got a real good start, but I'd be aiming for this ideal situation in any scenario. Early game: First city, pray like hell I get somewhere with huge amounts of production. If I can enchant it to get to level 2 faster, do it. Make this city a fortress, and once it's level 2 pump out a pioneer whenever I can. Second city, as soon as I have a pioneer. Looking for somewhere for a Town. Huge food
Awesome ;) I look forward to hearing about what/how you improve the AI. They're always such interesting posts. I'll post what I've learned playing each faction as I play them, hopefully be a bit helpful for you :)
Thankyou Brad and the team for making such a great game (Legendary Heroes). I've been around since the WOM days, and each installment you guys and gals have brought out have made this game better and better. I love all the extra details and sounds that have gone into the game, the cleaner balance, the abilities, the pacing. It definately give you that one more turn experience :) Thankyou so much :)
That is so awesome :) Now I want to equip all my juggernaughts in pink tutus :D
Great post Frogboy :) I always enjoy reading your AI wars :D
Sometimes use the High Tower upgrade to get connectedness (reduces unrest in cities). rarely use the warden upgrade. Never use any of the other upgrades.
Multiplayer!!! but if you wanted to do crafting: I'd have it so you need to have the base item you wanted to enchant. (why make the sword when you can get your city to! :P ) The enchantments available to you should
Holy wow. Seems like you've hit a winner with where Fallen Enchantress has ended up :) 67% when I just voted, were for improving FE :) One option I'd love to see would be a remake of the original Master of Orion with multiplayer :) Leave everything as is, just update the graphics and add multiplayer :) Then the icing on the cake would be to have Frogboy's AI pulling the universe onto you and I'd be having sooo much fun :D Back to FE. &nb
TAB will cycle any units with movement left that don't have a waypoint set. Best button in the game. Awesome suggestions Darxim. :)
Bug or description error. The Fire level 4 spell "Fire Mantle" describes it as doing fire damage to each enemy that attacks the enchanted. ie if they attack, they take damage regardless if the attack is dodged or not. The spell actually works as: fire damage is dealt to each enemy that hits the enchanted. ie, not hit, not damage taken from fire mantle. hit vs attack
The two operate the same, however they are different. Potential 3 is available to all champions, however, Knowledge is only attainable by Path of the Mage champions. Also, Potential 3 is only available if you have taken Potential 1 and then Potential 2. If you have a Path of the Mage, andyou don't want heaps of + exp (they all stack), then you can choose just to get Knowledge, which gives you +25%, rather than P1, and P2 (which will give you a bit highe than 25%) w
Thanks. that explains that. I created the faction as a Kingdom. Hmmmm. I wonder if that was an intended consequence. Hundred eyes cult 'should' unlock hoarder spider for any faction that has cult of eyes. Or are you saying that hoarder spider is not Cult of eyes specific?
Created a custom faction that had the cult of a hundred eyes trait. I could see in the magic tree normal spiders and ravenous harridens. But I could not find the research that unlocked Hoarder Spiders. Note: I didn't research all the way through the tree just in case it popped. So it could be an icon not showing, or could be similar to the spell books and the decalon ability and not unlocking properly.
The Darkling Shaman's shrink ability now has a cooldown of 3 What? Nooo! That's it. Back to the store!
Yeah I liked my champs to be ultra pint sized too [e digicons][/e]
Very awesome! damnit, Kondej beat me to the Hierganomnom from ages ago!! great memory there Kondej!!
And the other important bit, fun + gameplay are almost perfect scores!! [e digicons][/e] Now that is a one great reason to celebrate Stardock Team!! [e digicons][/e] EDIT: I reckon the whole game deserves 10s [e digicons]:D[/e]
oh wow, you had a team of berserkers that don't like armour wielding giant axes!! that is cool :D So is the Sovereign waltzing around with the giant's axe :P Does it actually show up stupidly large in the tactical battle? :D I'd want it to look twice the size of my Sov if he/she was using it!!
