One thing that stops me reading a post more than any other is the habit of some people to advise SD on how to run its business. From what I've gathered in these forums, it looks like Brad wants constructive criticism about game specific issues, which does not include changing his business model.
The only thing missing in this post is more sarcasm.
Yea, we're not going for epic tactical battles. MOM is our influence, not total war.
Case closed, apparantly.
I represent all of the Lurkers waiting for Elemental to come to fruition, which includes tactical battles represented in the box art. As the official representative of my fellow Lurkers expecting accurate box art, I hereby defer all of the authority invested in me unto Raven. Raven speaks for my entire community. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Its called bait and switch. Classic.
For anyone still sitting on the fence (like me), Amazon has some good deals for Elemental new in box for about $29.
I have not purchased the game, but as a potential buyer I can say the option for Epic Battles would put pressure on my decision.
AI Coding isn't this thing that is identical across all games, it can't be "ported" per say. For example, when you said that they should "import" the GalCiv AI. That can't be done, it's not like it's a digitized brain that they can just "drop in" Elemental. It's much more compilcated than that. So sorry to burst your bubble, but what you request is not that easy. And to be fair, the devs did fight with Microprose to get the rights
Yes, it may take a couple of years. I bought SoSE Trinity in Jan, 2010 for $30 (and that is still the price).
Is the idea to create a Frankenstein type game taking bits and pieces from everything else? Sure those games have strengths, but EWOM is supposed to be unique. Sure Brad has gotten inspirations from MoM and other games, but the goal wasn't to make a sequel or just update what's already been done. That being said, let's fix what we've got. I believe the structure is creative and full of potential, but the pieces just haven't been completed all the w
I'm sure professor Farnsworth has an invention for this: 1. Press some multi-colored buttons. 2. Pull the lever on the side 3. zip-pow-bang nice new game pops out on the other side. That was easy!
I own GC2 and SoSE. I have been following Elemental in these forums for about a year; waiting for the public release with great anticipation. Sifting through the aftermath of the event has left me with a sense of relief that I kept my money in my pocket. I respect the early adopters of this game because without you, there would be nothing to look forward to for lurkers like me. In the meanwhile, I will continue to lurk and hope things get worked out in good time. I plan to revisit my purchasi
Quoting Buio1, reply 100 Quoting Lucifon, reply 98 Very expensive for us UK gamers Can pick up alot of PC new releases for £18-£20 off sites here, Elemental is £32 for the digital download, probably a tad more when you get to the final price - stuff usually is on Impulse. But no retail version of the game over here. £18-20 for a newly released boxed PC game sounds extremely
