I realize that Windows 8 lets you set a custom image for your "login screen"/lockscreen but for those of us that don't have Windows 8 yet, is this still part of ODNT or was it removed?

Blah. IP not screwed my system icons up so bad that not even doing a RUI fully fixed the problem. I ended up having to dig deep into the registry, but not everything works still.

Slight Tiles issue in Object Desktop Stardock Forums

I have Tiles set up to have the little tab sticking out on the left side of the screen, but unfortunately however the "always on top" was implemented it truly is "always on top." (even on top of fullscreen media, such as Flash or videos I'm playing from my computer, or the "waiting for programs to finish closing" dialog when I shut down/reboot my computer.) If you know what you're doing you can change any icon through the registry. IconPackager is a great software for people who don't know how and don't feel like messing with the registry though. (do something wrong in the registry and your system is basically screwed.)

To add: swampthing's method works for any file extension type not displaying properly. Removing the "IconHandler" string will restore the default icon in most cases. (I haven't hit any snags yet, but something's bound to come up eventually)

But technically there's more than one user even on a clean PC... When you first start there are actually four: the one you made, Guest, Administrator, and Mcx1- . This seems to be a security thing, but still is a pain in the ass. To see this for yourself, open a command prompt and type "net user" into it. This will display all users on your machine. (I have one extra for VMPlayer)

I can confirm that the above method works for .exe files (which is all I've tried.) For non-Windows icons (Java, DevC++, etc.) re-installing the application will restore the default icons (uninstall first to clear the registry entries for them).

So here's an idea: How about not messing with icons that don't match the type described in the package? (i.e. when IconPackager first loads NO changes are made, then when a package is applied the extensions with custom icons get changed, the ones that don't get LEFT ALONE.) I say this mainly because the icons associated with .dll and .jar (among others, but those were the biggest) got changed to something else for me, and the only way I found to fix them was to reinstall Windows and J

Doesn't IconPackager modify the registry? I ask this because I did an RUI of Windows 7 with IconPackager uninstalled, and my icons have the same issues. Mainly it's the .exe ones, but there's something internal that IconPackager modifies...

I have to disagree with programs not having 64-bit compatability. I've seen them from Stardock with 64-bit processes running... (wbvista.exe mainly.) Considering most of them don't need to be constantly running, there's no need for a 64-bit version. As said above, 7's boot screen is fine the way it is, no need to change it. As for other programs, as a precaution I've always googled the program to make sure there aren't compatability issues with Win7 before d

Unforunately, in the process of using IconPackager, all the icons in my Start menu have been messed up. Now thankfully I found a workaround (applying the icons from the Quest theme and then restoring Windows defaults appears to have worked) but at the same time I'm concerned. Odd... I thought LoginStudio Vista changed the boolean key in the registry for custom wallpapers to true, then edited the file location as needed. Currently trying to use sfc. Hopefully I won't have to use my restore point from when I installed Java... (I don't want to have to go recover a few weeks' worth of stuff)

True, but the jump lists lack the same skinning as the rest, owing to the fact they were nonexistent at first... I was mainly talking about the ones by Stardock that were included with older version of blinds.

I know vintage themes will (for the most part) work fine with WB7, but I was curious if there were any plans to add the skins for the few parts missing (jump lists, UAC, the extra Win7 taskbar icons, etc.) with Windows 7 that default to a simple theme. Some of the old ones are still my favorites, and I'd love to see these brought back with WindowBlinds.

It's really simple... Just click the "wallpapers" tab in WB and choose "current" (when yours is up there). WB will then keep your wallpaper but skin the rest of the stuff. This is for WB7, dunno if it works the same on 6...

One question first: What OS are you running? (the method varies based on this) edit: this is assuming LS does what I think it does in the registry for logins. another one: have you tried switching to a different one and then back to default? Also try rebooting. For some strange reason I had to reboot to see my WB skin, maybe something similar has to be done here.
