After playing a few hours of FE demo, my quick negative comments about the game would be: - The pacing: The game is so long that it does not hook me up. Come on, it takes at least 6 turns to make a simple spearmen. This is one of the reason why multi-player games are unplayable. - Derived stats: There is too much stats including stat that deviate from others. If I have a spell that raise my strength by 3 points, I have no idea of what is the impact of the boost on the battle.<

So you need to level up your character to automatically gain new spells?
Besides the magic tech tree, how do you research new spells? Is there button on the spell book that leads you to the research list like in WOM? If that is the case, probably I don't see it because of my window graphic glistch.
The things I hate about AI diplomacy is the lack of memory and the rapid changes of attitude.
I managed to open it with winrar and set the decompression folder elsewhere.
I don't know the details right now, it's an NVdia card, and yes the drivers are up to date. I tried it on my 2nd computer, a netbook, and I don't see a single 3D polygon, not even the cloth map. But I was expecting this because of the version of pixel shader my video card was supporting. In FE, they upgraded the pixel shader version. But the screen shots above are not from my netbook.
My disk is partitionned in 2 drives. The problem is that the C drive does not have enough space to uncompress the game and launch the installation. Is it possible to tell the installer to place his temporary files on another drive than C.
Many characters (mostly during creation) have 2 pair of eyes http://lariennalibrary.com/extern/ElementalBugReport/0005/FallenEnchantress_1328025438.jpg Background does not seem to display correctly <img src="http://lariennalibrary.com/extern/ElementalBugReport/0005/FallenEncha
Quick Comments: Having different elements in different colors is important considering that I am partially color blind (and probably other people are). So if everything is the same color, we won't be able to see the differences. Make sure people can tweak the appearance of the game to reduce the processing power required to play the game. Removing transparency or the number of shown object including the cloth map mode are all good options.
(and third party forums as well -- Si vous savez ce que je veux dire) I did not know you spoke french. As for dynasties, I like having kids but not giving them away to other kingdoms. As for the 8 bit intro, they could make an new 8 bit intro and have an option in the option menu to enable it or simply skip the intro. Is it me, or with each new version of elemental, the forum gets darker. What is the next step, black
illauna: nice idea to use the fallen enchanteress as an avatar. I could also do that since it looks very similar to mine.
If we bought Elemental in 2010 but did not pre-order it, we will have to wait a bit more time? "The world most powerful sorceress will destroy the world unless you stop her" I don't want to stop her, I want to help her!? Because Ceresa is cool! Favorite fallen character so far. Can we join ... the dark side!?
Cool! ... But I have so much things to do! I received my eclipse board game and everybody wants to play. My girlfriend want me to try skyrim I get tons of idea for board games variants/expansion ideas or simply new game ideas. I still got a huge list of video games to finish, play or replay. I'll see what I can do
If you are not careful, you can get stuck in the infinite loop of design which makes you work for years on a game without ever achieving anything. One thing I do in board game design is "Proto Rushing". I soon as I have an half working game, I make a prototype and playtest to get feedback from the game. This prevent me from going in a direction and then taking back all my work because it actually did not work. As for game balance, consider that it is impossible to have a perfect
Fortunately we will all have ridiculous quantities of fatty foods to stave our hunger for FE. My girlfriend planned food reserves too, but it was because Skyrim is coming this week. Apparently I'll need to remind her to feed herself else she will pass the day without eating.
One thing I hated in War of magic is the cliff VS beaches. Cliffs aer annoying for various reasons: - You cannot move on them - You cannot build on them This has the consequence of eating a lot of space from the map. So to avoid this problem, you need to use terrain changing spells which created tons of bug with beaches. My suggestion is that all square should be a full square of land like in MOM or CIV. If you want to have cliffs, place them in the sea
And remember, you can change the resolution before entering the game by changing a line in the .ini file. It's either in the game's folder, or in My Documents, where the game keeps it's saves. The problem is that on a net book, not of the proposed resolutions actually fit my 1024x576 screen size. seanw3, I am currently reading the book from which your avatar comes from. I am about 1/4 through the 1st book.<
I speak natively french and it's even less logical, so be very happy that you are stuck with english. From what I remember, the only verb conjugation in english is to add an S to 3rd person singular. We have different termination for all 6 persons, for each of the dozen verb tense multiplied by almost 100 unique verb exception. So you are better to get stuck with English. [e digicons]|-)[/e] I tried Armored Princess on my girl friend's computer and it works. It
You could wait and try the full version of The Legend, see if it works, since it's going to be free soon on a digital distribution service who's name I'm not at liberty to say. OH Really! Then I might just do that instead. Is it anytime soon, like in a month or two. Else I was thinking that I might have downloaded the wrong demo, OR he does not like the fact that I have a netbook but does not give any
HOw about Auto-Scouting? One idea I had to make AI management easier and remove a player's chore is that at each X turns, the area of the map which has been explored increase around cities automatically, so that you do not need to manually scout everything. Maybe you could implement this as an AI cheat, they don't build and send pioneer, their vision range increase with time according to their city locations.
But if that’s not good enough, you can turn on the resource overlay and actually see the initial output of a tile. That is something essential for me because I am partially color blind. The color variation is too thin to see that there are actually greener tiles. IN the screen shots above, all the tiles looks the same color to me. BY the way, do you accumulate the income of all squares in your city area (like in MOM), if
On some other thread, people talked about the fact that King's bounty had very interesting tactical battles. So I thought that I could give it a try. So Instead of trying to find an illegal copy, I said that I'll at least start by trying the legit demo of "the Legend" and "armored princess" to see if I really like the game. So I installed "The legend" demo, it tells me that I have a trial period of 999 days and that it will expire in june 14th 2014. That's fine with me, my
KINGS BOUNTY has the best tactical battles there is. I never played, but according to the screen shots, it looks neat. Is it only a PC game (any console version)? Not sure my PC could run it. ON ething for sure, the combat needs to run fast. According to the comments, Kings bounty combat were running fast, which somewhat surprises me for a game that seems to focus on tactical battle. Else ...
I tried to analyze other tactical battles that I remember having fun playing to see what was interesting in these systems. One thing for sure, the MOM tactical system is pretty boring and replicating this system will not make it better. I tried to select games that was close to a fantasy medieval setting. So I excluded games like master of orion and PTO. Gemfire <img src="http://lariennalibrary.com/extern/forum/TacticalBattle/Gemfire.png" alt="G
Some suggestions to make AI design easier which includes ideas from other games: Chess: Calculate all the possible moves and take the best one. The problem is that there is a lot of randomness in the mechanics which adds a lot of uncertainty making it hard to determine the best move. R3K6 Method: I am currently playing R3K 6. In that game, battles are managed semi automatically. For each unit, you define a policy and an action. The unit will do th
