Well this is why I said it was a good engine, but lot of adjustments are required to make the playability perfect. My biggest complains so far is that you are always short in resources and all buildings are almost essential. For example, I would have like the possibility to have various city configurations according to the player's objective and be able to change your city config according to new needs. But since there is so many pre-requisite and since some buildings like farms a

I have to try installing the game on my netbook but it has windows XP and according to steam, it only run on vista and 7. Did any body tried windows XP for this game. Second, is there a ways to transfer the installation of a game from a computer to another, or do I really have to re-download the game again to my second computer directly from steam. I just want to save some bandwidth by simply transfering the files from a computer to another.

There was a bug in the demo where desenchanting a unit spell removed the effect, but not he upkeep cost. I did not test it in the real game.

I don't know why people would give bad rating to Warlock. The only thing that I can see is that it's a simple game, a bit like CIV REV. And that might scare people away. On my point of view, simplicity is perfect because it would allow to develop other aspects of the game like diplomacy, magic, espionage, etc. The problem with most CIV games is that the city management is so heavy that the players do not have enough energy to manage other things. Now with a much more simple ci

Of course, else only walking on water naturally would be very too powerful. But the fact that you must not build a ship and bring it to destination makes it awesome. It's also less annoying to design the interface to load and unload units. Another idea would be to have a certain number of "Transport" in reserve that does not appaer on the map but that gets automatically used when moving at sea. So if you want to move more units at the same time on the sea, you would need to build

I finally bought the game, but still considering the expansion pack. Races looks similar, so buying another race did not seem very interesting, and I did not understand the other pack. I rather pay for additional functionality rather than paying for additional data. I played rapidly yesterday. I like the core of the game, but I doubt some things would require balancing. This is why modding would be important. For example I summoned imps and ghost wolf. They both have similar attack po

"It's also 50% off on Steam right now, so for $10-$12 it's a great buy." Oh! Really! then I am seriously considering it. When you buy a game on steam, it's only valid for 1 computer right? I'll have to try if the demo works on my netbook, but I really doubt it. Else I'll have to buy it on my girl friend's PC.

This game has a much more potential for a MOM MOD especially considering tha: - There are multiple planes. - There are no sovereign. - There are ships. - There is no tech tree. Still, there are not - Heroes and equipment ( But in the original MOM, it was only for artifacts, in elemental it's the complete equipment). But that is something I do not mind losing. By thinking about it, I would be much more excited to make a

I think they have plans to release some form of modding ability down the line. Cool, that could be interesting. I am not in a hurry, so if they eventually do it, I will be very happy.

It's not really a good thing to promote competition, here is some comments I found on another site: The latest game in the popular Majesty series, Warlock: Master of the Arcane introduces turned-based strategy and global conquest to the fantastic world of Ardania. In a time of chaotic upheaval, the player takes the role of a great mage, a warlord vying for ultimate power. Your mission is to build an empire, expand your borders, research new spells and conquer your en

It's not the map itself that uses the memory. It's all the stuff ON the map. You could have a crazy sized map if you restricted each of say 3 players to 100 units. But people want large maps so that they can have huge HUGE games with more cities, more armies, etc. Could there be a way to sacrifice the esthetics to have bigger map where those with 64 bit OS will not have to make that sacrifice? It's like w

"More memory isn't going to affect the game's graphics. It affects the size of maps, the number of units you can have, the number of different objects you can have. Play diablo 3 and ask yourself, given their budget why are the items you get so similar or identical? It's a memory constraint. It's why sins doesn't have a 4th race, it's why galciv map sizes top out." I understand that 3d maps and 3D models can tak

The problem is that elemental is not structured well enough to be played as a multiplayer game. You cannot have a 500 turn game played in multi-player, it just does not work. The primary reason is that a player's turn can take between 20 seconds and 20 minutes depending on where he is in his game. For example, a player might be skipping turn to reach a destination or wait for a certain technology, while another player could have a lot of management to do on his turn. Lan support c

Sorry for my newbie question, but since FE is not installed through impulse, I was wondering how do you upgrade the beta installation. I remember downloading a file from a page I have no idea how to access. I wanted to know if I must uninstall and reinstall the new beta, install over the old one or is there a way to update directly from the software? Thank you for any info.

in fact there is 2 MOM patch. One of the simple patch fix AI and prevent the computer to cheat. While the other one change the powers of all spells and abilities. I prefer the first patch.

I don't want to promote competition, but I never heard of Warlock. I took a quick look and it looks cool ... because there is hexagons (I a an hexagon worshippper). But it sincerely looks like Civ V with magic. I hope this game would be modable, I could make a master of magic for that mod too. That could be interesting, 2 MOM mod on different games that share ressources like artwork, music and otehr stuff.

There's an interesting geeklist on Boardgamegeek about Depth vs complexity . OK, maybe complexity was the wrong word. The idea was restrictions did not necessarily made the game better but rather different. I am even exploring ways to design games by having as few restrictions as possible to the player's actions.

I would not say "Make the game better" but rather raise the level of complexity or the level of details. For example, the "Wizard kings" board game use a plain hex map as a board: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/200018/wizard-kings But movement looks much more complex than it seems. First, you get mobility boost if your unit start and ends on a road. But most important

Leave the outline by default and give the option to remove them. The only drawback of outline is that it darken the screen. But everything look pretty dark right now so it fit with the general idea of fallen enchanteress. People who needs processing power will simply remove them.

Does the alignment parts have any influence on the game play? Lawful Chaotic : generally represent the need to regulate with laws. Maybe some buildings could not be built because they are designed around laws. Maybe some diplomatic treaties cannot be established or are simply less powerful because they cannot follow rules efficiently. Good Evil : Generally represent the tendency to think about the others or you

For my personal point of view, Elemental seems to not fit my taste of game at all even if master of magic is one of my favorite video game. Elemental has none of the elements that makes MOM addictive and that cannot be changed without changing the core game play. So this is why it's not appealing to me anymore, but other people might like. One of the reason why it does not hook me up is the pacing. The gameplay is so slooow. It takes 6 turns to build a spearmen ... Seriously!? I can't
