Yes, I have experienced that one too, but this darkening simply erases the map, and in the HUD where cities and units appear (the little circles) the image is gone, leaving the circle itslef, for example, the sovereign circle, the image goes off and i can see that circular chart of green and blue that normally is a ring around the picture... Not to mention that all text turns into black boxes, it does not
It is not a good glitch, a pioneer surviving can't possibly be better than the 1 essence you lose when you are defeated in battle and teleport back to town.

I cannot open a single menu during play without having the whole map going black, only leaving the hud without writing but black squares where letters should be. Sorry if this sounds idiotic, but i have never been in a beta before so I cannot say if this is normal... I just downloaded Beta 3... and it is running deadly slow, not to mention that i can barely do something before it goes black and I am forced to quit the game... Is this normal, or is my laptop really that lame? I am aware that this is a beta and it is supposed to be a little buggy, so excuse me if I sounded dumb. Thanks in advance.

I should first clarify that I have not played the beta (i do plan on buying the game, of course) but by seeing the pictures available already, I have noticed that the world map looks... small? It was the cloth one, so it may have been due to it being zoomed out, but I remember seeing only one landmass (A Pangean world?) which was small enough to show paths and lakes quite big...
