Agreed luketan; i wonder why this is so difficult of task. Magic would have been my main focal point and now that everyone mentions it the game does feel very much like im playing with a program than a game.

The AI doesnt know how to use ships still that is why its always one GIANT land mass. This is a problem with several 4X games. Empire total war and Civ 5 even.

The game just currently lacks magical content. I've read that Stardock realizes this but i just hope that they realize how important it really is! Now that the core game has been setup and the bugs are gone and the game is stable i really hope they work on the magic part. twilight of arnor and dark avatar I thought they were fun for awhile, but without tactical combat or multiplayer of any kind the game eventually became boring to me and was replaced by games that i was allowed to play with my friends with.

I recognize there are several posts about this topic but i feel i need to put in my two cents as a extremely experienced gamer. This game is about magic and while the battle system is still great i just don't see the magic. Sure the magic in the game is powerful but is it magical? I have to agree, without tactical battles for my friends and I multiplayer will just not be played and it will be difficult for me to talk other guild mates into buying/playing the game as well. PLEASE!!! Leave tactical battles in multiplayer if people don't want it in their games just have an option to turn it on or off.

That would be cool actually. Having the ability to siphon/leach the life essence out of a creature/object. There could be a whole race designed just for that purpose...harvesting essence.
