...I think early days in the FE beta Brad spent quite a bit of time in making the ai armies come together at logical places creating some nice armies. For some reason this seems to have deteriorated over time. It's one of the weakest AI points currently: too many easy kill lonely units or heroes.
There has been good progress made, in that we no longer see armies with pioneers (or scouts), or pioneer-only armies. And, when

Some updates/clarifications, since my previous post in this thread: -When I mentioned my lvl 20 sov just cast heal/slow/haste, and while he's maxxed out 3 spell lines, they're water, earth, and air. Not fire, else he'd be casting fire spells as they're fairly powerful. I depend on air/earth/water in Insane games, for their strategic spells. It's more important to damage/delay/scatter enemy armies than use fire spells in tac combat, at least for my
...I am curious, have the AI heroes ever been a problem to you?...
That's a great question, one I've been thinking about. Short answer is kinda/sorta/not really/no. -Kinda/sorta: Some champs cast spells. The spells really seem more a problem than they are. Curse, for exmaple -- I hate to have it cast on me but can't remember any time it really caused problems. There's a spell that drains heal
I really like LH. I'd give it a 9/10. I've mentioned several times I think it's a very good game. I've also mentioned there's still room for improvement, currently the AI. In the hope of being constructive, one area there's room for improvement is AI army construction. Here Yth is sending 6! armies after me, all on the same tile: <img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAYABgAAD/4RDoRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgABAE7AAIAAA
I checked again the 'no construction' thing, still happening, and here's a better explanation (with pics!). This is the Yth city at the end of my Fall 261 turn, just before I hit 'end turn': <img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAYABgAAD/4RDoRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgABAE7AAIAAAAKAAAISodpAAQAAAABAAAIVJydAAEAAAAUAAAQzOocAAcAAAgMAAAAPgAAAAAc6gAAAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Regarding 'move thru allied units' change, what I'd prefer is to be able to setup our forces in our 'starting portion' of a tactical map (while not seeing the AI disposition). That would have several benefits, including obviating the need for a 'pass thru allied units'. It's a more involved change than flipping the 'collision detection' flag, but in the long run it's an important feature. The game AI sometimes does a great job of
Wasn't there a thread about "not" building anything and it was discovered by that OP that the game actually couldn't display 1 Turn queues? I really really like LH. (I haven't played FE since LH beta came out so can't comment on it) I think the 9/10 reviews are accurate -- a 90 metacritic score is reasonable. I hope and believe changes will continue to improve the FE/LH/successor line. After a rocky start Stardock buckled down, brought in more folks, and worked hard to achieve their goal and promise to those of us who pre-ordered WoM -- and succeeded! Congrats to all on the team! Another example of where the AI can be improved. I'm at war with Yithril, as is Resolyn. Screen below shows a Yithril outpost, one of my armies to its right, a Resolyn army below mine (with the spider), and a Yithril ogre below the Yithril outpost. The Resolyn army came in from the left (I'm 99% certain of this) but didn't capture the Yithril outpost. <img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAYABgAAD/4RCQRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgABAE7AAIAAAAKAAAISodp

I agree that the spell is abusable with a mana heavy faction, but that's just too much of a nerf, imo.
Tornado in itself isn't really overpowered, it's that the AI is lacking and doesn't do a credible job of reforming its army (heck, I can't say I've seen any attempt to reform, and most tornadoe
An ophidian in the one stack not only protects that stack from offensive magic (except for tremor spell, that still worked) but if you target a non-ophidian army with a multi-square AoE spell such as starfall, and the starfall AoE would include the ophidian-containing army, the starfall spell can't be cast on the non-ophidian army. So it's not just the same army being protected. The non-ophidian armies are subject to single-square AoE spells of course. I can see

Thank you N1ghthavvk and davrovana for the replies! davrovana you are correct, there is an ophidian in the army. It seems the most likely explanation. I hadn't considered that the presence of a magic immune unit would protect the entire army. Seems a bug to me and will be reported as such. Thanks again to you both :) Looks like I'm in a bit of trouble in my insane/insane game now lol
Ok, I'd like to amend my above post. I've now seen an offensive spell cast on one of my armies while in enemy territory: <img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAYABgAAD/4RDoRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgABAE7AAIAAAAKAAAISodpAAQAAAABAAAIVJydAAEAAAAUAAAQzOocAAcAAAgMAAAAPgAAAAAc6gAAAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

First, thank you for taking my post in the spirit I intended -- LH is a very good game (I'd give it a metacritic of 90 as it is now, and I forgot to mention amongst its qualities that its been very very stable) and the loving craftwork that's gone into it shows, and that given the great crew you've assembled I have high expectations. And that it's not that the AI is bad, it's that the rest of the game is that good. Good AI is very very hard and time consuming
I really like LH. "Time Played" is 163:07! I've spent the past 3 days on one game, and am only about halfway thru it. Game is huge world, insane AI, 5 insane AI foes (all empires, I'm a custom kingdom). Settings are mucho resources and magic, no wildlands, temperate. Currently turn 264 and I'm (Dangerites is me) hanging in there... <img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAYABgAAD/4RDoRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgABAE7AAIAAAAKAAAISodpAAQAAAAB
...The only advantage the AI has is that most players aren't trying to win the game, they are thinking about leveling up, questing, and taking down wildlands, instead of cutting the AI's throat at the most opportune moment.
This is a good point. I don't play cutthroat, I'm more a builder, and enjoy exploring, building, researching, etc. I purposefully don't rush the AI to take their generally better citie
First, I want to repeat (yet again) -- LH/FE is a good game. I love the graphics, the basic premise, all that stuff (tho I still rue the removal of essence to re-awaken the land, and dynasties). I focus on AI because there is no MP so AI is all we have. And, you have a very talented staff working on the game and the AI currently doesn't measure up to their abilities or what I hope the game can be. I haven't played since .75 so if I've missed a change my a
...Now, if you want to complain about something in LH, complain about the diplomacy system. That is the single biggest disappointment in the Elemental games IMO. ...
I disagree. Diplomacy leaves a lot to be desired it's true, but AI is the biggest weakness.
