If any of you could name a spiritual successor to Darklands, what game would it be and why? I miss the old DOS AD&D games I played when I was young...
Hmm...I'd have to think about that. As far as semi historical based RPGs, there isn't much. Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader could have been great but it looks like they ran out of money after the first act. Oh what could have been. :( &nbs
Well, we must be playing different MoMs then, because I sincerely do not feel the way you guys feel about this game. First, let's establish that v1.4 (insectidice) is a non-developer mod and thus cannot truly be considered part of the game for review's sake. Would you review Civ4 more favorably with FFH2? M&B:W with Floris? E:WoM with heavenfall's mod? &nbsp

The first point is something that doesn't bother me that much. The world should be harsh and unforgiving. The second point, I totally agree with. It is very frustrating to have that happen.

Good post by the Op. People tend to view MoM through rose colored glasses. Bad AI, steamroller Hero stacks and other such flaws. MoM was far from perfect. I happen to like FE's tactical battles. They remind me greatly of MoM's and once the AI is up to snuff, it'll blow them away. What I would like to see in FE to make it more like MoM would be creatures that guard shards. Like a Fire Elemental guarding a fire sha

Adding more options with roads would be good. I'd like to be able to build roads to outposts as well as to any natural defence barriers.. Also, making them a little more visible would be helpful.

Very good post by the Op and I agree with most everything. I also appreciate people who know how to post constructive criticisms of the game and do it in a helpful manner. This is good: 4) Magic. I absolutely DO NOT like ditching the spell research. AT ALL. That was one of my primary focuses in EWOM... and it worked. I did not like, however, how any hero at a certain level could cast any spell that you
Have people heard of groupthink? We humans are succeptible to it. One person gets an opinion and then lots more follow the lead. Pretty much all games start off with only potential - I don't think there are very many games that are great right off the bat, very first iteration. And there are still up to 22 more versions of FE before the release v1.00. However if we give up on it now, guess what? The potenti

People have a right to criticize the game, I agree. It's very important not to be sycophantic and to give constructive criticism. However, that does not give you the right to be an a-hole. Some people *cough* *cough*need to know the difference apparently. I find the game quite fun to be honest. Certain areas do need some sprucing up, though. City building for one. It's a work in progress.

Maul is fine IMO. Frogboy said they found some error in the code and with -4 accuracy after each attack it should be managable. Personally, I see nothing wrong with heroes getting mauled by cave bears. Roughed me up pretty good. Lol.

Ahhh...I see it listed in my account now. [e digicons][/e] You guys rule. ^^ I can't play now though. I have to bake some cookies. :P
Check your Stardock accounts to see if the game is there anyway. Plenty of folks last week, including myself, didn't get an email, but got the game the same time as everyone else. Look under my account/my downloads on the Stardock web site. I don't know if it's the same situation, but it couldn't hurt to check.
Checked there already. All I

I didn't receive an e-mail either. [e digicons] I'll contact support, I guess.

Hmmm...no e-mail for me yet. :( I bought and registered this game in mid September 2010. It better be home when I get home tonight...:P

Sounds great. ^^ I especially like Gnomes. Badger riders. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] I also like the idea of having a heavenly faction like Angels. That or a priestly, do goody, holy faction.

Patience is needed. Brad said he wanted a 90 metacritic score. The game will be in beta for a long, long time and the AI is just going to get better and better. I have faith. Oh and more cowbell is fantastic news. [e digicons][/e]

That game looks horrendous and is an abomination apparently. No multiplayer on release. ;) In all seriousness, any game that has neutral towns called Ogremoor and Gnomewall give me that MoM feeling. Lol. Interestingly enough, in an interview with a developer, they call the game a spiritual successor of MoM. <a href="http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?580920-Warlock-Video-interview-relea

More outpost options are needed, I agree. I think you should have to build a road to an outpost in order to extract the resource. A pioneer should have the ability to do that. Making the outpost more useful defensively is a must with defensive bonuses, troops being garrisoned there, etc.
Boats, are a pretty basic requirement of a TBS game on a terrestrial map. I hate the idea that if something can't be done magnificently, then just cut it completely away. That concept has lost WoM games boats, dynasties, and minor factions, and I don't feel for the better.
Well, E:FE is pretty well put up or shut up for Stardock. If they fail at this then
