By the powers of thread necromancy I ask the question: has anyone tried the Shogun 2 DLCs? Specifically I'm interested in the Rise of the Samurai one, which proposes to add a new campaign. $10 doesn't seem much for a new campaign. Anyone have thoughts?

Thanks folks. The Anno games do look pretty good. I'm intrigued by the different time periods--according to Wikipedia the previous one was 1701 and the next one will be 2070. Is 1404 better than the previous ones? It seems to be, from what I can tell. What mods are recommended for SimCity 4? Honestly the prospect of mods didn't even occur to me, though I don't know why--generally I love to try mods. That said, they can be tedious to sort through to find ones that are worth

Hello all, Been lurking for a while, and I thought I'd come out of the shadows to ask what people thought that the best city builder game currently out there is. I've played SimCity, 2000, 3000, and 4 (to varying degrees) and enjoyed each of them. (I sank a *lot* of time into SC2000, and a fair amount into SC3000, but only done one city in 4.) I played Caesar as well (just the first one, I think, it was a while ago). I also enjoyed Sid Meier's Railroads! briefly but never

Dragons have an ability (I forget what it's called) that does their entire attack value in true damage (i.e. no roll, no defense) to anybody on the board, and they can cast this multiple times per battle. When you really need to one-shot something before it gets too you, or if you just can't crack the defense on something, it's invaluable. Also, I gave one of my dragons (it was actually the one you get from the quest) a tome of attack (or strength potion, or something of that sort) an

Good call, forgot about that one. I guess it's kind of a silly point, anyway--you've turned down the ability to win the game, so what should they give you? There's no real answer to that question, since the only thing equal to it is... winning the game.

Well, that wouldn't help with the defense, right? By way of example: the sword is something like +50 attack and +10 combat speed. You think you're good to go and conquer the world, because in battle you can run all over the map and hit people 10 times a round. But say you come up against some dragon, take a swing, roll low and do 10 damage, then he counter-attacks for 35 and it's curtains for Mr. I-found-all-the-pieces-of-the-forge-and-all-I-got-was-this-lousy-sword. If you also got a shield

My bad--I actually had them equipped when I first walked on to the quest-giver location. I had unequipped them but not re-entered the square with them unequipped. So, problem solved. One minor quibble: the text at the end states that my sovereign became the Avatar of Draginol, but I thought the forge let me dominate the world with golems. It doesn't actually make a difference but I thought the text might as well be consistent. Last comment: the sword that you get for giving in

My sovereign led the army that did all the quests. None of the five pieces have been held by anyone but her.

I've got all the pieces of the Forge of the Overlord but I can't seem to put them together and win. I went back to the place where I originally got the quest with the pieces equipped (which doesn't seem to do anything) and unequipped, but nothing happens and the quest stays active in my quest book. I guess I should have taken the hermit's advice... Quick comment on the quest itself: the various pieces all spawned inside my territory. It would have been much more awesome (and less easy

Here's the solution: Everybody Most people on the forums want to be helpful. Have a thread where everyone puts in whatever they think would be a good name for a city. Compile these, and then have the random name generator select randomly from that list. All Stardock would need is some intern to sift through and remove all the "Cockvilles", et cetera, and everyone is happy. You'd end up with a nice, varied list, some of them in Englis
