Had a lot of travel to do and decided to load up Elemental 1.2 to see what's new and different. Lots of good, lots of bad. My feedback is purely some gameplay bugs that are driving me crazy (as an empire player) : Custom empire races that choose man-type races still can't train Sions after building a Sion temple. Custom empire races (and some of the defaults?) have Peasant/Peon's combat speed at 1. Workaround is to upgrade your pioneer

Empire issues? * Regular Empire peasant having 1 less atk speed than normal (pioneers = 2) (can be fixed by going with a kingdom race in custom then ally empire_ * Custom races can build but not train Sions Just curious. I like Empire a lot and played a bit of 1.1 but it didn't fix this issue, which I viewed as pretty core to gameplay - every empire unit had crappy speed. Or maybe just Resolyn. Anyhow... I might boot up a game and find out

#1) The game is playable. You run into memory leaks and the occasional crash, but it's playable. #2) By playable, I mean you will actually have some fun playing the game. #3) The game is far from polished / finished... but there's so much potential. I drool.
I've also seen the AI use Call to Arms, which is kind of cool..
That spell needs a global cooldown btw. Not to go off on bugs/tweaks, but a few I've been facing lately (I play exclusively empire =/) #1) Custom Empire Civ can't build Sions [even after creating Sion temples] if they're not an 'Empire' race. Possibly not ever. IE, I have a 'Man' custom civ, empire aligned. Recruits darklin
In theory, you shouldn't be able to beat a ridiculous AI 1 on 1 on a small or larger map. Normal = average strategy gamer level. Challenging = decent strategy gamer level. So basically, work your way up from Normal and see how things progress.
Hey FB, I'm a little frustrated with this statement. I was playing a challenging game and was just annoyed that the AI got so many more
Quoting tjashen, reply 2 A game slider that controlled how frequent the monsters appear would be nice. That way, those of us who get a kick out of monster hunting can set it high, while others who don't want to be bothered can choose a lower setting. Yes. This. There's not reason not to have one.
+1. Also, would be nice to just equip Caravans with Guards...
Charisma does nothing in heroes. The claimed increase to prestige in city does not work.
They just didn't write it properly; You get +1 prestige in a city for every 5 points of Charisma *over* 10. 2 Champs with 15 Charisma will provide +2 prestige. Kind of handy... I had a group running around that was basically +15 prestige on demand, teleporting between cities.

Original poster: If you want to try something competitive and fun, check out League of Legends. It's a MOBA rather than RTS, but the matchmaker's pretty good after the first 20 or so games and you quickly get into repeated fun experiences of 30-50 min each. That said, MOBA not RTS... but similar!

Wierd / annoying bug: When I reload a save game / autosave, #1) Foreign Relations loses all history - people don't remember I killed their wives, etc, it's as if we've never met - but still have some value of a relationship [ie, warm not neutral] #2) Area of control *SHRINKS* ... I lose a bunch of satellite buildings and need to rebuild them.

Playing as empire... #1) Settlements cost 1 food and have a pop cap of 0. They should be at least 10. Frogboy knows about this. #2) Same CHA issue - but looks to be working fine. On the flipside, Prestige [Royalty] ability seems to still be global. #3) Warfare tech tree feels incredibly bloated compared to other trees. #4) I can imbue champions from anywhere on the map, is that by design? Soverign halfway around the world grants champion spellcas

Now I'm getting 'couldn't download the data file' when I try to run the beta [ie, click elemental, get dragon load screen and it starts running .. then 'couldn't download the data file' and errors out] Very annoying. Like the direction the beta's going though.

Yep - tactically anyone on a horse has the old "SLOW" animations. It's already fixed internally and will be pushed next patch.

So I like conceptually (if not 100% in practice so far) the tech idea. Right now, military tech rules all, closely followed by adventure tech and civ tech. Adventure tech creates new resources for you (!) so even if you don't have a gold mine to begin, you can get one by researching adventure. Similarly, pursuing quests and the adventure tree is a huge economic boost early on. Civ techs are more for an established empire. Diplomacy opens trade (REALLY important, but only

I still go back to the games I view as classics now and then ... warcraft 3, age of empires 2, space empires IV, myth, marathon... Its early, but Elemental has potential to fall into that category. Enthusiasm hasn't really disappeared here. Actually if anything it was buying the game, realizing it was half finished, then realizing I could influence the direction of the game because of the Dev interaction on these boards and the strong modder community.... that has sparked my enthus

I want more UI updates in general - I want to know where a stack that's already assigned to move is going, I want a button to move all people who already have routes designated so I can then tab through just the people who don't have routes designated... etc. I want more hotkeys. I want more smarterer UI, really - city list is a great start. As I want all this, I don't want to diminish the game in general. I love the potential I see for this game more than any stardock

As others have said, +1 move speed is nice ... In the current iteration, a base unit gets a combat speed of +2 for a total of 3.0 in tactical combat. Give them a mount and one more speed item and you get a combat speed of, say, 4.2. For, say, archers, this means 3 attacks instead of 2. Handy.

+1 to being able to get things off champions corpses (books ... and weapons and armor! although obviously some chance for not getting worn weapon/armor as it might have been destroyed while you were killing them) +1 to being able to trade these items (Hey there Resoyln, I'll agree to your peace treaty if you throw in your sovereign sword or that book of +8 atk)

As far as the "clearly" part, it seemed clear to me that if the nation I was dominating in that game had 2 level 1 cities and 0 research buildings, the fact that I was getting +9 research per turn from them was completely ludicrous - first off, I was getting 9 more research than their entire civilization produced, and second, I was getting about 1 point of research for every 2 of their citizens. How does that work, just intuitively - how can I possible learn that much from a completely subjug

Oh - I totally had the opposite interpretation; that the lesser civilization would gain much more (relatively) from the relationship. I mean, if I do a tech treaty with some impovershed nation, they're going to learn things just when I try to explain the concepts I want them to help me with .... similarly if I trade with a very poor nation, they get a pretty big benefit just from my nation's presence. While we're on the topic: A) Can non-aggression treaties b
