I'm pretty sure you're already aware (if not, check my link in your saved games thread), but research/trade treaties are broken. Case in point: I'm the #1 empire and have completely dominated the Resolyn down to literally 2 level 1 cities, both completely within my influence. A research treaty is +9 Tech Research per turn for me and +0 for them. It should clearly
Your liberated spelling of spelt has some serious irony/cognitive dissonance entertainment value. It almost distracts from your more important point about how the built-in factions do little to nothing for making a given game distinctive (regardless of the whole lack of random maps problem).
Like armour, colour, etc etc etc?

For doing nothing?I think he means like in Fall From Heaven 2: A special hero that does indeed gradually increase in power for no particular reason. It worked quite well in that game. But that was because it was a hack of the Civ IV engine. We can do better than that. We just need our Champions to be tougher.[/quot

I really like Blistering Sands, Raise/Lower Land, Volcano, Flood and Earthquake - being able to change the environment is something that's pretty unique and awesome. On the flipside, they have some bugs... like I can't cast blistering sands outside an area I control (no good for wiping out enemy resources?) and when I flood or volcano an opposing city, the AI doesn't realize I did it and/or doesn't care. Who doesn't declare war on you for sniping their city with a volcano?!

Hahah I hear ya. As the game went on I actually saw a few good things... like Kraxis sending me a warning "Stop hanging around my border with a huge army" after my Sov had spent ~20 turns sitting there with a 1500 power army just because I was watching to see whether Kraxis and Altar would actually fight each other after I leveled the playing field between them (literally) ... Also, AI really needs to learn to use food. Frogboy, look at Altar's cities in thi

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YBTEJVCA 'Challenging' game ... my woman sov married Janusk and imbued him right away, and thanks to meditative was able to get flame dart just as I ran into Magnar. Killed Magnar early, set up a roadblock on Kraxis, explored the north and found Resolyn. Finally got tired of letting Kraxis push Capitar and Gilden around in the southwest, and took over Resolyn. Left them in one tiny city abo

1) Restructure the tech trees. Idea is fantastic, but Conquest has ... 30 nodes? While some other trees have... 11? 2) Menu option to have the computer not recommend unit designs. 3) Smartererererer AI. I know Frogboy's on this one. 4) Caravans should not double as spies. 5) Pet peeve; fix the reveal spell. It only works in unexplored areas now - as opposed to previously explored and now fog of war'd. 6) Pet peeve; fix the blistering sands spell. I can'

I'll throw this caveat out there as well: I'm being SPAMMED by three nations who want me to declare war on each other... who haven't met each other. Resolyn: N by NW corner of the map, never seen Altar, wants me to attack altar. Altar: E by SE corner of the map, never seen Resolyn, wants me to attack resolyn. So much potential.. so far to go.

I'll put it this way: This game does not impress me. But it inspires me. I see *SO MUCH* potential in this game. The AI is terrible. The customization available is like listening to only the first verse of a Rachmaninoff vesper ... SO MUCH to go, but you can already see how awesome it could be. I could wax on, but the long story short - I'm playing it and having a great time even as crappy as its current incarnation is. I have high hopes for it.
I customized my sovereign, but I wasn't aware that you could customize factions in this game? There's nothing in the manual about it.
There's a manual?!! Yes you can customize factions.... click "Workshop" from the main menu and you will see "Faction Creator"

Also FWIW and for hilarity, "books of X" work on the quest dragon. +1 base attack is +10 attack for her....

Brain just turned on. Right: 2 points: +1 str to base unit 2 points: +1.5 dex to base unit 2 points: +1 con to base unit 5 points: +1 movement to base unit 5 points: +.75 combat speed to base unit .. etc.
Stardock implemented a different sort of turn processing in GalCiv II that allows the AI to plan its moves, etc. during the idle CPU cycles when the human player is figuring out what to do in GalCiv II, as per a dev journal way back when they were making GC2. This is why Stardock's TBSes have faster end turn processing without sacrificing AI capability.
I figured something along those lines - but it's a double edged swo

One of the things I get out of this thread is that I want to see factions rebalanced... and custom factions mean something. For instance, any custom faction I put together seems to have ridiculous advantages vs. regular factions. Would be nice to see you spend points on the faction's "base unit" the same way you can customize your Sov. IE: spent 2 points, gain 1HP on base units, another 2 points, same deal... have a 7HP peasant/base unit while other factions have 5HP units. Or incr

The bug with Royalty is that it applies its multiplier to every city you own - a global effect. It is (I believe) only intended to impact the city the Royal ends the turn in. Normal city: +1 pop/turn Normal city when you have a Royal stationed there at end of turn: +2 pop/turn (intended use) The issue is that the Royal bonus is currently applied to all your cities. Have 10 cities and 1 royal? +10 pop/turn. (bug) Have 5 royals and 10 cities? +50 pop/turn. (bugggggggggggg

Definitely not fixed... for starters, it keeps swapping units' icons displayed after a while (princess of Tarth shows up as a Magnar Pioneer) ... definitely some leaks going on.

#1) "Guard" units should not be brought up when tabbing through units who still have action (thanks for taking Caravans off this!) #2) "Level up city" should be OPTIONAL and something I can do mid turn; window eclipses the city and the inability to look around before choosing is supremely frustrating. #3) Turn off "AI recommended unit designs" should be an option - 10 different recommended units all named archer, anyone? #4) Clicking on a city from the city list

+1 for option to turn off troop design recommendations (Edit: Say nothing of the AI recommend 10 different units named "Archer")
