If you were short material doesn't it show anyway in the city "train" menu? You wont be able to select it and train them but if you put your cursor over it then it should say what material your missing. But if it's not there at all you might not have researched the proper tech to train the horsemen, if memory serves i've gotten horses before i've gotten horsemen and was able to custom design my "Light Cavalry" and build them. But i play a pretty modified game so it mig

Ok thanks for all the good info guys.
Ok sounds like the majority agree that it comes down to tile placement, So what tiles do you want to look for on the different city types? Fortress and conclaves your good with a 4 on production and a 3 on essence? Towns are pretty much anything else? So a 3/4/2 would be a good fortress where a 3/3/3 would be a good conclave or even a fortress based on your play style? From the argument about production verse essence on the fortresses can't you add a hammer
What do you guys normally make your first city? I fortress, town or conclave? Or does it matter solely based on the tile in which it was built?
Good reading thanks for all the tips.
Ok i've been on this forum for about a week now, everyday (yeah i get bored a work, web dev isn't all that exciting at times). Now let me say that back on oct. 9th i bought a game (pre ordered actually) called XCOM:Enemy Unknown. Loved it, went to the forums. Now i haven't been a huge game forum guy my whole gaming life and wasn't sure what to expect. But i wasn't expecting that, it was a complete bash fest. Out of the hundreds of posts there is only one every once in a gr
I occasionally have this issue also, the no walking thing not the dialog lockup. But it's normally with a single unit that just kinda appears where i click rather then walk there. It normally fixes itself after a little a bit but i've been concerned that it might stay like that as it is a little annoying.
Personally i love steam and wouldn't have bought this game or probably even knew it existed if it wasn't for steam. I'm glad i did get it because it's an awesome game. But steam is also a new avenue of revenue for stardock that it might not have had otherwise.
Ok i'm about 300 turns into a game using your huge i rregular, i did change the water percentage from 65 to 55 (both min and max) just because i wanted more land then what it was set to. But i have no problems and everything runs perfectly. So great job and thanks again!
But what level are you guys when you take a dragon down?
Thanks for the reply, i'll see if i can find the posts.
I'm pretty new to the whole Elemental series and am learning a few things here and there. But one thing that's boggling me is how do deal with that dang dragon or those wandering 'deadly' mobs. I haven't completed a game yet as i'm just toying around with the different champions and such. But at what point do you build enough of an army to deal with them? I've built a number of cities and now these deadly mobs are roaming around my lands killing off units in transi
[quote who="giskarduk" reply="2" id="3275589"]I have been modding games for over 30 years, I have a long long list of games I have modded including The Elder Scrolls series and the worst experience of my modding life was when I uploaded to nexus. Nexus is rotten from the owner down to the players that use that site if your modder. Use it and you will learn this for your self eventually. I never played the original games (unless masters of magic was in this line or was it a different one? idk) but i have played every civilization and total war game to date for untold hours. I can say that a diplomacy win in civilization dang near requires a decent sized military. In fact in civ and total war you aren't going to win any victory condition without a decent sized military as the AI will consume you. You may not be getting the feeling of a victory condi
very cool i'l have to try that out on my next game. Thanks for sharing!
