maybe if you mess with starting speeds, like epic , ai doesnt know how to play?
FireStorm10
wierd i played on normal and had been war decced and wave after wave of armies.
I was one of poeple who preordered elemental war of magic before, and while not hating the game , i was overall disspointed , specially with ai that didnt challenge you. Now i have played i think at least 6 hours of fallen enchantress and i think its a great game, what elemental should be, great stuff having it for free For me ai on normal was challenging , lost first 4 games, now wining my fifth. So im really happy with this, will try further dif
I disagree i played a lot in galciv and imho it was the most reacting feeling alive AI i have meet in any game. Not sure what you mean by cheating but if you mean bonus to resarch resources etc. it said in beginig clearly when choosing difficulty level at which level AI gets advantages.I lawys played the hardest without any advantage to the computer and itwas alwys fun. It was actually the only game i really felt the IA is reacting to what im doing, how im designing my s
:) really appreciate as customer, happy new year to you and Stardock :)
oh superb , i feel my love to stardock again, thats really fair . Hope they can make a great game comparable to galciv2 cause with all the free stuff they give and support for eLemental which i am guesing isnt selling much, they must be atm really loosing some money.
Sure , i will prolly stay interested in Fallen Enchantress, but no preoerder this time, and no buying before reading a few reviews and posts on forums.... On unrelated note i seem to be like a magnet to broken games , whenever i really become interested ina n upcoming game , it usually ends bad.(anyone old enogh to remember moo3 ? i was a strong follower:)) Just recently I bought Sword of the Stars 2 , the first part is great.Well with the second part the developer
Hmm i agree with most what you wrote, about magic and AI. Altough with AI the funny thing is altough it gets very powerful units fast and tons of cities, its really very dumb and doesnt use them (on challenging level) so you can take your time and hit it city by city.I had a power of 9 compared to 50 of my enemy and i got his 4 cities...No retaliation whatsover or any organised attack on my cities...
I am a big fan of Galciv 2 , loved the game and loved in past master of magic so i pre ordered Elemental. After reading initial reviews waited 2-3 months before playing.I wasnt totally disspointed , but sum to sum it wasnt a game i really liked so i shelved it. Now after lots of time , since im sick and got some free time :), i decided to give it a second try, hoping that with the time Stardock had to improve it maybe it finally started to shine. Not reallly:( </p
i would rather play what i have now, than wait till February. i would hazard a guess that most of the problems that we are seeing now will probably be ironed out by the end of September. this will give me oct, nov, dec, jan to enjoy the game, i just don't see the problem here.
You cant make a second first good impression. You cant erase negative reviews(wholy justified or onl;y partly).Imho thi si
Quoting FireStorm10, reply 210 But im pretty confused and saddened by what happned here (supposedly as i havent run my game as written above). A free piece of advice: Ignore the forums. They are full of trolls who, after being disappointed for one reason or other, blow the whole issue way out of proportion. Most people who actually like elemental are playing it and not frequenting the game's forum
Honestly i bought the deluxe version but after reading up all this comments , i havent even run it , i will give startodck a month maybe 2, i got other games to play.I want to have as much fun as possble, be amazed by my first contact . I aboslutely loved galciv 2 got all expansions , still palying agood game thats draging for the last week, so i aboslutely have big warm feelings towards stardock.+ Brad you write funny posts:). But im pretty confused and sadde
To the op imho : no no and no. Mods are one thing and expanding a game, a finished product i buy is another.Like galciv 2. The elemental video looks really cool. As for Starcraft 2 for me it will be prlly like sc1 and all other rts: reasoanbly fun .. if i can slow it down almost to a crawl:).I dont like the element of arcade and multitasking speed in strategy games, and in in sc in multiplayer its like a huge part.Stil i hope the single player cvampaign to be good and fun for me , in sc1 it was fantastic, when slowed down to max:)
IMHO the most important part if you make tactical comabt is the feeling that your decisions really affect the outcome, that there are changing situations that you must react to.Your manoevres really must make a difference, flanking , attacking from rear, possibly ambushes, scouting for those with special units, advantages/disadvantages of terrain...I love empire total war land combat because it is first game for as long as i can remember that actually takes it into account (some of it) .Also
I would agree wioth aesir, new, orginal doesnt mean good ... In fact there are plenty of games who tried so hard to be original it didnt do well for their main purpose and thats fun:) Look on the game concept its 4x game wich is something very old and used , but its done becuase poeple (means us:)) like it. With lots of improvement over the original ideas of course.Same for fantasy setting , imho classic creatures are tons of fun.I mean that using old ideas and improving over
"evolving map" sums it up nicely
An evolving world with little tidbits of information like rumor, people's opinions, descriptions and that kind of stuff would be great. Much of it wouldn't be functional, but it would definitely make the world feel more alive. Things that do change the actual world would be great, too - huge battles, particularly where lots of magic was used, could gain some sort of importance. How such an
It's positive and negative, while you can't do a healing spell in a positive manner, you can steal health from something else. I'm hoping for spells like vampirism and drain life in combination with massively powerful stat hits on the enemy. Death magic doesn't need to be a bunch of devestating attack spells, it's the perfect place to have the best physical debuffs, which are just like buffing your own troops when it comes to survival.[
What imho many strategic games lack is the feeling you actually change the world you play in, that its a live world. I think i read there will be some cool graphic effects on the map, wich is great. I was thinking about more of those tiny cool touches that were sometimes present in galciv 2 for example on the tab of the planet you could read a short history of the planet including the time you conquered it (your input) or reading the people opinion
Currently in many games evil sides have powerfull destructive powers while good side healing/reparing.In case of GalCiv it was defensive offensive bonuses. While at some role palying level it was cool , i alwys had a problem with this as i love to play as evil:) and create ultra powerful veteran units , to preserve wich you need defense+healing/repairing. In some games it was nearly a game breaking exp for me , for example in age of wonders series without your
Actually i love the graphics i have seen , i love the fact they are so other and fantasy-feeling.I tottaly disagree they are bad.
Yep infinie tech and random based is great , so far in 4x games alwys you got at some point to a moment when your reserarch didnt matter anymotr cause it was maxed wich was tottaly unrealisitc and unbalanced for reasearch focused parties.
